It doesn't teach me anything, but I'm not going to look a gift horse in the mouth.

100k is a lot. It's enough for you to buy that motif, gold a weapon/piece of gear.

What's even more important is that money will likely wind up in your pocket as folks want to spend that money, so if you are a good seller, you'll likely see an increase in your income.

This is a complete non-issue and I don't understand why it even warrants a discussion? Login for 28 days, get 100k.

For us experienced players, it may not be a lot. For the newer player, like the ones that are still around from Summerset, it means that they can do a lot of things they couldn't before.

For those of you on xb na, maybe now someone will buy your 100k blue training mothers sorrow fire staff you've been trying to sell in zone chat!

to anyone in a trading guild 100k is the equivilent to a penny

Also not true. Being in a trading guild doesn't mean someone is making gold hand over first, or that they fail to recognize the value of 100k gold. Remember, your experiences are not that of all players. Many players, trading guild or no, are not as good at making gold as you are.

Also a lot of us play for other reasons and aren't concerned with making lots of fake money. The 100k will be a nice gift.

I'm thinking they're going to do longer reward calendars in September and October so they can do shorter calendars in November and December. Doing two week schedules for those two months would mean that you could either complete the schedule before the usual holiday breaks or during the holiday breaks.

I've collected all daily rewards, since they started it. I think it's a nice to have feature, despite there being more important things to do such as fixing things. But why complain or speculate about anything? Just take the free stuff and be happy :)

September is a back-to-school month for their major markets and I'm guessing it's a lower-traffic month because of it. I guess it's an experiment to see if it actually boosts their numbers.

Clearly it's not targeted at the vocal "I wipe myself with 100k bills!" minority on the forums.

I prefer the gold over the crates.
10 accts=1M and I can get what I want with it instead of crap

I get nothing but crap or stuff I don't want with the crates

They will never have direct crates for gold beyond the crowns for gold thing. They make too much off them.

I don't think its a good move for economy.

The only gain I've had is talking people into writs because of it. Alot of my mates don't bother but got psyched for the reward. I pointed out you do writs for one month you get that from hand ins alone PLUS gold tempers and rare mats.

If you have or farm enough mats. The last writ event decimated my mats and style stone supplies. With 15 characters, I would have to constantly farm mats and buy style stones. I don't want to do that.

An extra 100k per account won't effect the economy one bit. Not with the amount of people who have 10s and 100s of millions of gold banked.

1 have 11M gold. One more million is nice but it's not going to impact me whatsoever.

The writ event with motifs dropping like water had a bigger impact than this ever will

I'll add the perspective of a returning player-

I left in November 2017, after being fairly active- and just recently came back for mid-year mayhem and Summerset going on sale. I missed the introduction of daily rewards and it's been a novelty to get stuff for free, even if most of it is useless.

I'm a lot less active now, not really interested in trials or grinds or trading guilds, and even though I'm still sitting on a fair pile of gold from when I played a lot, 100k is a nice boost for the few things I do still want to buy.

I don't see that the gold has anything to do with crown crates, except to measure which is more incentivizing.

When I was a new player, afford bag space a horse a horse upgrades was a serious pinch on the pocketbook. I liked that you had to work for it, but a lot of people won't. Now people get a horse, XP scrolls and all kinds of stuff for free. It gets new players feeling like they progress faster with fewer pain points. This seems to be the typical game design pattern anymore; casual gamers are good money, good money keeps game companies in business. While many long term players have spent a lot on the game, they aren't enough people to monetize all the expenditures for the artists and devs.

I'm not sure why ESO just hadn't gone ahead and sold max level character vouchers in the crown store.

Now if the offered amount was 1 million I’d be impressed. 100k? It seems a lot at the start of playing but soon becomes a relatively small amount. I tend to log in every day and don’t find the gold to be any kind of extra incentive. Crates though I like because I refuse to buy them.
Everything will be alright in the end, if its not alright its not the end.

    ZOS doesn't care about gold.
They DO care very, very much about real money. I highly doubt they'd ever in a million lifetimes let us get crates for gold.

It will likely lead to an short term price inflation, as any smart seller will know that there will be buyers with extra gold on hand that they dont have enough self control to hang onto.

For me personally, I will likely spend it to improve a few weapons from purple to gold. Beyond that, spending patterns will likely be normal.

If ZOS were to offer crates for gold directly (not the gifting system), I could see them doing it for older returning crates the second time around and it would be specifically as a gold sink. They could also add a new type of crown crate that is gold only so they don't compete with their own real money sales. They can make money (and remove the gold sink aspect unfortunately) by completely legitimizing the sale of gifted crates with a cod system or allowing gifts in the trade interface or guild store. You can then safely buy them with gold as you suggest and ZOS gets their cash. Everybody wins in that situation.

I'm not, like, broke. I do writs on 9 girls. But that 100k will definitely be appreciated. I log in every day anyway, what's not to love? I haven't missed a day since June 17 or whatever day it was I started....

History: I started WoW in February of 2006, and never missed a day logging in through May of 2013 when I quit the game permanently. Ditto RIFT from June of 2013 until July of 2016 when I quit it permanently.

Then again, I'm retired - first time retired in 1980, second time in 2005, last time when I retired from my own website design/management business in 2015. So that means I can play games all day every day.... as long as I cook, do laundry etc. too!

What will a free 100k teach us and Zos?

I was curious! For me, if i had access to the data, it would give me an idea of what a good gold sink price for crates would be. so that's one prediction i have! crown crates will be coming soon to buy with gold AND they will not be de-conaable for the gems that give the apex awards.

    What do yall think?

I think you are overthinking this.

I think people are putting way to much thought into this. ZoS is offering rewards for logging in. None of the rewards are game changing in any way. They are mixing the rewards up to entice as many people as possible. Simple as that.

I actually think that this is to test to see how many people are willing to log in daily, for almost a month, to get a 100k pot of gold.

...then ZOS will use that data to say "We had #million people logging in daily last quarter!!!" When they give a report to gamer websites/media.

It's actually a brilliant idea from a publicity department standpoint.

It's still pay to win - or maybe grab to win, or log in to win. There's no way epic dungeon sets should be handed out for crowns - or for free. And when I say that, I'm also saying that I'm one who will never have those epic sets. Now, if those sets are just cosmetic, that would be fine.

I actually don't care about people having stuff I can't get myself. But I do care about the amount of angst on the forums if something like that happens - because all that angst gets in the way of finding out things I want or need to know.

So yeah - I guess this is all about me.... in a way.
