New magblade sustain question

First off I’m running 5 MS/5 Siroria/2 Valkyn Skoria with maelstrom backbar fire enchant and MS frontbar weapon damage enchant.

I’m currently using swallow soul as spammable and am trying to understand how you magblades don’t always run out of magic? I’m obviously doing something wrong... I can hit like a truck but can only do a few rotations before I’m completely zapped.

@Hostee , I've been there too just two or three weeks ago. I ended up taking Atronach just to practice rotation without getting interrupted all the time by running out of magicka.

The gist is to keep up Siphoning Attacks, weave light attacks, and shoot spectral bow as soon as ready. Weaving LAs means a lot on magblade, it's how you get a lot of magicka back, even if you skip just a few, the impact on sustain really feels. And spectral bow is your chance to get every fifth skill absolutely for free, and deliver good damage at that. 20% of rotation (in ideal case) without spending any magicka makes a lot of difference.

Are you using ele drain? Are you using Siphoning Attacks? Are you activating you Merciless Resolve procs every fifth light attack?

I use Elemental Weapon instead of Funnel Health, it's cheaper.

I'm new to magblade, running BSW/MS/Zaan, at first I had a lot of sustain issues and could barely do half a 3M dummy before being zapped.

If you have Psijic then try Ele Weapon as spammable, it's cheaper and damage pretty much the same AFAIK. You just miss out of the self-healing which I don't miss in dungeons. Not done any trials.

Depending on jewelry glyphs try using one or two recovery and witchmothers brew. Since having a bit of practise I no longer need witchmothers and run max mag/health food instead. Need a lot more practise weaving before I can ditch recovery glyphs

Much of this already covered. Just kind of putting it together. For a 3M test, you can easily sustain on a magblade by running witch mothers, keeping your siphoning up, supply elemental drain, switching to elemental weapon, using spell power pots and weaving in light attacks between skills.

Witch mothers gives you great magicka recovery
Light attacking gives you magicka back via siphoning attacks.
Elemental drain applies minor magicksasteal, giving you magicka back.
Elemental Weapon is cheaper than swallow/funnel
Spell power pots restores magicka immediately and increases your magicka recovery by 20%

You should also have the medicinal use passive so that your pots will always be active, as long as you reapply your pots when they run out.

To add: putting 75 points in Arcanist will give you 14% magicka recovery which helps tremendously.
