Doesn't feel the same way to play male characters for me. I think it comes down on how you view your characters. I find each character to be a different shade or tint of myself. This also comes down most of my items from crown store are things I like as female, so little options to feel fashionable.

Still this sure is interesting poll. Always felt ESO had higher population than other games for female players. Also most females play females most of the time which is interesting.

This is something I've always felt: each of my girls is somehow "me". They all comprise some parts of the me who lives in the real world, but each of them has components that don't - or sometimes cannot (magicka etc) - exist in the real world where I live.

It's one of the things that makes playing multiple girls so much fun for me.

I'm a male and every single character i own is female. 7/9 if i make more they will be female.

Because they are far sexier and pleasing to look at compared to males..

Also have you seen most of the male races in ESO? Especially Orcs, yeah i use females..

Which is funny cause ive seen some outrageously pretty Female Orcs. Especially their eyes, i don't even understand.

I know its eye of the beholder but can you link some screenshots because i've never seen one.. ESO male Orcs look like a bus has Smashed into their geriatric faces...

Do you know how to distinguish whether it’s a guy or a girl that plays female character?

Girl - small / normal breasts
    Guy - max size breasts

    That easy ;)

I tend to RP my gender, because I'm not a female by nature so I try to stick with what is natural to me.

PS: I personally play the Elder Scrolls games with a main char I feel is the essence of everything I love most about it. Which is DB and TG. If it weren't for this franchise, I'm not certain what other ache-type would be my overall favorite in all RPG's.

The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind was my first of the franchise and it shaped how I play RPG's and even the reason I'm in love the genre. Hail Sithis!

    Sincerely,

    Hails-to-Sithis

I'm very surprised to see the majority are males playing male chars as I mostly come across males playing female chars. That being said, playing the game for almost 2 years, I have never even made a female char, I just don't see the appeal. But having a good looking dude (by my standards) character makes me play the game more and improve him, to the point I'm scared to change his race because he might lose his looks and I'll lose my desire to play. I wish there was a way to keep it same as much as possible between certain human-like races.

Also none of the options. I'm female and play male and female characters equally often. I have more female characters than male ones, but that's mainly because I don't like the looks of human males for my characters. Otherwise I'd also have an equal amount of male and female characters.

As I recall, the statistic is 17% of individuals will preferentially select avatars of the opposite gender in games and other social systems that permit it. There's little variance by gender, so guys aren't more likely roll female characters than women are to roll up male characters.

That said, it's been almost ten years since I read up on this. Additionally the lit didn't distinguish between online games and things like IMVU Second Life, and social networks. I also don't remember if there was any distinction between online and offline environments. Somewhat obviously, there was no discussion of semi-private, online environments, like Dark Souls.

But, off the top of my head, the number you're looking for is 17%.

Female and always play female, all races and builds. I tend to elves, khajiits and redguards, but I'm not very elf-like, Greek and definitely not a furry in RL, but if you think you can persuade me I'll try anything once. For personality, goals etc I try to change with each character. Usually I play one with my own name, that looks like me, and behaves like I would (bit brassy but nice and always up for drinks and food, loyal but cowardly). I would like to play as a chap at some point, but I fear it would feel like a Shakespearean cross-dressing comedy.

I like to sink into character I play that's why I play almost always as a male... and because my gf would be like "So, you would like me to look like she? You think she's prettier than me?" - that would be a death sentence.
I'm done with this game because of ZOS pushing us into Vengeance, because they don't know how to fix Cyrodiil.

Got my mmo start playing Shadowbane for about 5 years where certain classes are gender locked (Huntress, Fury, Warlock) so have no problems playing female toons. It's an RPG after all. Also my naming convention is after Sumerian mythological figures so I have to represent Inana, the Queen of Heaven.

I’m a male and have 4 characters. 2 males. 2 females. Make StamDK, Female MagDk.

None of those characters are me. They are characters in a videogame lol. Who cares.

In this, as in previous games, I prefer playing female characters. (I am female). I do have a couple of males toons, but I rarely play them. Honestly, I don’t like the looks of the male characters in this game. Every time I make a male character, I wish I’d made him female instead.

In my time playing the game I've made only one male character, and he got deleted moments later.
I was just trying to see how feminine I can make a guy.

All female here.. it's just easier if someone starts getting a little to friendly to stand my ground from, well, familiar ground xD

(Every single time I've been on a male character wind up getting 'hit on' and wasting a bunch of time goofing off because it amuses me... but 'that' is not what I'm here for xD)

I'm male and I have 2 toons, 1 female and 1 male, played equally

but I always used to say that if I was going to play a game where I had to stare at an avatars backside for hours on end then it might as well be a female backside I'm staring at
