Is ZOS closing down EU servers?

    I would interested in knowing what they have for the two different servers. It's possible that they have different equipment so the game is built for the NA and hammered into place on the EU. Since they don't seem to publish that info that I know of, all we can do is speculate. So many unknown factors.

    We have no idea what the NA server looks like. We know what the EU server looked like back in 2014, since they posted a picture. From that, we were able to obtain hardware information, so they likely will never do that again. :smile: Since then, we have no idea what changes they have made, and we don't know whether the EU server was a mirror of the NA server.

    I'm on PC-EU, I usually PVP on Kyne and have no issues at all.....

    But having seen the constant gripes about PVP and guessing they were more related to endgame I decided to try both Sotha Sil and Vivec……..

    If I was a half decent player I would have very few things to moan about, the game played fine!

    However considering how much time I was dead I may have missed a few game play issues! >:)

    On that theory, then zenimax is closing eso off for good (both na and eu servers)

    Obviously it is rhetorical. You stated it to persuade the conversation of this thread. Any reasonable mind would not think Zos is shutting down a server that probably has the highest population of all 6 servers.

    This is correct yes.
    I believe the confusion of location often comes from that sometimes it seems the log-in servers route via the US giving an US IP when people ping them.

    It amazes me how flustered people get over serves because out of the many 100s of games I've played, I've yet to find that game out there that actually has perfect servers - or even servers that satiate gamers in general.

    The NA server is significantly less populated than EU server. (I play multiple maxed chars on both servers daily).

    I rarely encounter a problem in PVE, and only experience lag when large numbers converge in PVP whichever server I'm on. As EU (Vivec) is more populated this happens much more regularly there.

    Despite a few issues here and there, the game certainly isn't broken for me and many others, but it does seem that it is for some. Why this is I don't know, and I suspect neither does ZoS.

    The reported issues certainly aren't exclusive to the EU servers. They also don't affect everyone, even those doing the more problematic content like Cyrodiil, dungeons and BGs. I think one of the reasons ZOS don't simply "fix the servers" is because these issues aren't solely related to the servers. If they were, everyone would suffer equally, but they don't.

    I just want to add that the reason they switched maintenance to do NA and EU at the same time is that they apparently share resources. We were either told, or surmised, that this was the account/login server. I suppose that could be an internet reason for problem, if they have to ping a Texan login server frequently for some important connection reason.

    The Xbox EU server is a deserted wasteland. The cyrodiil campaigns don't even pop lock anymore at prime time. There are entire areas of the map you can wander around with seeing a single other player.

    As for server info -

    They are hosted by Akamai CDN (as are the forums and website), with the NA cluster being in Dallas, Texas, and the EU cluster being in Frankfurt, Germany.

    I am able to quickly enter the new dungeons through the gorup finder tool. The real problems is useless PvP people who think they can tank and dps through it spamming spears.

    PC EU server is in terrible state, that's true.

    • EU players are humans too! We want our maintenances in the least pop time (at deep night) and not lasted for several hours!
    • Animation canceR - is true PvP cancer! When you can't see which actions your opponent do - you can't react properly on them!
