If you're being carried then you're hardly getting the job done @Valrien

That's my point. When you do no damage and are okay with it as long as the monster dies, then you are most likely being carried.

"Who cares how long it took us to clear...at least I had fun, right?"

My fun per hour matters to me, yours is up to you, nothing can change that. You're assuming a lot by trying to connect the mindset with an undefined number.
There's a lot to a viable build but nothing matters if you get stuck with players who obsess over metrics and won't even look at you twice because you don't meet what they feel is the only playstyle.

You want users to be amazing and have fun and not have to be carried and not carry others? Teach them rather than try bludgeoning your ideals over their heads. It's the difference between "you can make a really awesome set for stamina medium armor at x location" vs "your gear sucks, go away until you get good"

Sometimes a group may have low dps or low heals or a squishy tank. Or no tank. Or no heals. There is no "right" way, only ways that work and ways that don't.

The fact that you have your fun at the expense of others says a lot about you as a person, when you want to play a special build and make a run that much slower.

You said yourself you have your Sorc that can barely do anything but stay alive. Tell me how staying alive but doing no damage is any better than being dead on the floor...I'd be eager to hear that explanation.

My point is you should have your fun, but if it's going to be at the expense of other players then just play solo. The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few or the one.

There are some people that can only play an hour per day and get their pledges done. How is their time any less valuable than yours?

My sorc's job is to stay alive and to keep everyone else alive. It does its job.

And you keep assuming that my enjoyment of the game means no one else can. You have some very funny ideas. Since when is it my job to make sure you have fun? If you're not having fun then that sounds like a personal problem with a personal solution. If you want me to make the game fun for you... I hope you're better at persuading in game than on here.

If someone has a need for a short time in the game then they know what they want and are hopefully capable of solving their fun per hour dilemma by themselves. If they need others to assist, such as in a group event... maybe they should look for players that are already doing that or I dunno... ask?

30k DPS in a raid is low when you include raid buffs.

Sorry but you're honestly just being selfish and lazy

VSO used to be done with 20k DPS, 30k is fine. It didn't include bluffs, how could I measure myself including buffs? Be less of a wise ask.

Why is it that people always invoke this stupid argument, YES it used to be done, by none other than hodor not your average 30k dps dude that won’t unpin the tank on Ozara. 30k dps now is 10k dps back when it was completed at 20k. If not for the power creep, this average dude would have no chance of completing it, just like they have no chance of doing vCR+3 now.
Admittedly, 30k dps is plenty for completing it, but it will be a long and painful run. If that’s your definition of fun, then go ahead and run it with your group of 30k dps DDs.

k great you're solid and fine for most content that doesn't have a DPS check. Legit you sound fine but if it wasn't for the light attack buff from summerset I doubt you'd be getting 30k and anything under 30k is really kinda low. But it sounds like you have 1 part of the puzzle figured out already. Practice more

Until ZOS makes content that requires everyone to be at 40k minimal DPS to have even a chance to complete, the entire DPS argument can go die in a ditch.

20k is enough to clear pretty much most dungeons, even some vet DLC dungeons.
30k will get you through all vet DLC dungeons and most Vet HM Trials, if not all of them.

More than that just means you get a faster burn thru and can start going for Score Runs but ESO is such a casual heavy game that I fail to see the need for Score Run elitism that poisons the player base so heavily. ESO has way too many glitches, exploits, and cheesy set ups to be taken that seriously, IMO.
This is true, its some dps checks but they are low by todays standard. Slimecrawl is the most famous one.
Yes some potato pugs manages to screw up this but that is another issue.

On the other hand higher dps makes it easier and if you run an trial group you would also select among the higher dps players. In one of my guild its an trial group, they increased dps requirement to 35k simply as group got to large.

I don’t see how 30k is enough to do hof hm or mol hm. Hof hm execute is a plain and simple stack and burn. Mol you have to 7 plat push into execute.

Well this is a competitive game.

Actually you have it wrong and I take offense that you assume so. I just haven't reached out to guild mates. Others have helped me and even asked me to join them, so it isn't that.

I don't believe this is a competitive game, in general, but when it comes to Trials and other group-related content perhaps in relation to 50+dps

ESO far from being a competitive game. The only competitive content is trials, and how many groups are actually competing in the trial scene? Only a handful of groups. It's more now than it's ever been but I think it's still only about 6 groups at best (if even that) which is a laughably low amount.

The game isn't set up to be competitive. 99% of the game is ridiculously easy and this is also what causes the divide between the endgame scene and the rest. People don't have to learn to play before it is too late. Of course, there will always be players who are competitive by nature and seek out information, guides, videos etc. to improve themselves, but those are far from the norm.

Because if you go into vMoL with a group of dps that only hits 30k you won’t get past the twins. Your group has to have enough dps to get pasta certain burn phases

You can easily pass them on a group on around 20k dps, easily. That's how the game was when that dungeon dropped ffs...

The key word here is "easily". You can manupilate the conversation with that one word.

No. It's not easy with 8 dd's who have 20k dps on a dummy parse. And it never was. More the fight lasts more adds spawn. And when it comes to a point those with 20k solo parse can't kill adds with their aoe's only, the fight itself becomes even longer. The longer fight means you have more room to do mistakes.

And for those who say "Only thing they do is to stay still and beat a dummy mindlessly and they get 50k dps. That's not representetive." Well, people who can't take care of themself in a raid and yet have 45-55k dps (depends on class) are like shiny pokemons. I haven't seen one yet.

Yes of course. It's about the actual meaning of the word, but I don't speak with much regard to people suffering from Asperger's syndrome here. No offense really. But when people are saying you need like 50k dps to clear that trial, it's just not true. Above average players dealt 20k dps when that trial was new, and they still did it - somehow. Frankly, few did solo veteran dungeons back then, now I and many other's grind many of the old dungeons for monster sets etc. solo, if you got none to help you.

It's a mechanic heavy trial, and if you know every detail about boss health percentage and what not, you can "easily" do it. Not easy no, but it doesn't mean spending 9 hours there despite knowing what you do. Hell, I mean - play Rayman and you can know exactly where to go, but you still fail over and over because that's DIFFICULT. This isn't hard in the same way.

Everyone has room for improvement. With the current patch, it a bit of practice it is easy to do around 40k on every class, And with a lot of practice you can push upwards of 50k+ on all classes on the 6m dummy.

If you are not hitting these numbers, Just keep practicing. If you want to get good then take the time to do so. All the time those who cannot do good dps are spending on this forum post could be allocated practicing your rotation.

All the top end game players were also sh*tters at one point too, You just need to spend the time practicing like we did.

And yet every man and his pet budgie on here would have you believe those percentages are the other way round. Amazing the shite you read in game about people needing to go for "meta" gear when almost all of those being told they need it will never actually require it because they'll never play that content or do that particular content in the manner all these "meta" chest beaters tell them about.

Nothing backs up the "meta" mentality you see on here and spouted by a very, very small fraction of gamers. Never played another MMO so can't comment on how relevant the "meta" argument is elsewhere, but here, it's nothing more than an outlet for a handful try hards to push their pov out into the open like they're the majority. Hell, they're not even the minority as there's other play styles and the likes that out number them too. The people completing these time trials are always the same people without fail. You see a new name randomly pop up every month or two, but I could count on one finger the amount of times I've seen an entire new group of people pop up on the PS EU leader boards over the last year or 2. Doesn't happen, yet people on here and some in game have deluded themselves into thinking 99% strive for this or at least should. They wish.

"oh since you said you're good enough I suppose I'll just invite you then. sure hope you don't waste the time of the 11 other people here, but...I trust you, random person."

side note: if you have "meta end game gear" and do 30k dps I can confidently assure you, you do not know your rotation. js...

    Yeah.

    "I have meta gear" + "I know my rotation != 30k DPS

Yea, makes no sense at all.

He's either lying, or he's not as good as he thinks.

People are hitting 70k single target at hm rakkhat, seen a parse recently this Game is Just a Joke atm If You are doing endgame raiding.

Nobody hitting 70k mate. If they are they are very few in number. Or it's a myth.

Are you sure? Dude, sorry to break it to you but I’ve seen 74k Rakkat parses this patch. Dps is insane this patch and if you can’t even hit 40k then you’re a casual at best.

5800 hours in the game, but still a casual...

He meant casual, as you are not very good, bad wording since casual doesn't necessarily mean bad player, but it was not hard to understand.
