Dots...

I like dots. Not polka dots. Damage over times!

There is something so satisfying about throwing your dots on some overland beast and then just standing there watching it die! Big fat yellow crits are great, don't get me wrong. But when you dot up your opponent, and see all those juicy numbers come flying outta their head, It's like stopping to watch a babbling brook... OF DEATH! Seeing the hordes in cyrodiill healing and purging and jumping around trying to live and fight back, knowing that it is futile. Such joy! I can't wait to get out of stupid work, so I can spread my precious seedlings of pain, like a plague, to all of Tamriel!

This seems normal to me...

What about you? What type of damage (or healing, i guess) do you prefer? Huge chunks all at once, or the slow trickle of impending decimation!

I’m low level CP 130 with crafted gear sets and never played PvP. So see my comment from that perspective...

I rather enjoy my healing. I cast an ability to get healed like 2000 every critical hit. And I critical hit about 60%. So it’s cool. I barely need to cast shields. Many encounters I get down to almost dying and a DoT crits and I heal.

Very enjoyable for low level new player PvE

Edit: my toon is a magsorc

Okay maybe a DoT doesnt crit so much as an AoE crits. In my mind they’re still almost the same.

I fell in love with aoe dots from my start...throwing down like 8 aoe's and the enemy has no safe ground...because I MADE THE FLOOR LAVA! Sometimes don't even attack and just run around to see them die from the lava induced floor...

Yes! So much these! The hots ticking away while you kite around, the dripping dot pools of death on the floor! I love the "not attacking so you can watch them die." LOL!

In this game, I generally prefer a heavy hitting ability that has a channel time. That said, I use what would make sense for the character I'm playing. My sorcerer may be a master wizard, but he turns his nose at that "dark magic" stuff. Sure, he knows how to cast crystal blast, but he's a lightning mage. His signature spell is throwing a giant ball of lightning in your face (which with some of the changes the developers made to light attacks, has gotten more effective than ever for him). On the other hand, my slightly sadistic dunmer exile is all about the slow burn. Between grothdar and embershield procs, things melt without him really having to use class abilities at all... haha.

I used to play Dark Age of Camelot. I had a Midgard shaman that used the damage skill line which was made up of dot spells. When you killed people in PvP it would say so and so was killed by so and so in chat. My character’s name was Damdots. :D

So and so was killed by Damdots. :D
"And it's important to state that our decision to go with subscriptions is not a referendum on online game revenue models. F2P, B2P, etc. are valid, proven business models - but subscription is the one that fits ESO the best, given our commitment to freedom of gameplay, quality and long-term content delivery. Plus, players will appreciate not having to worry about being "monetized" in the middle of playing the game, which is definitely a problem that is cropping up more and more in online gaming these days. The fact that the word "monetized" exists points to the heart of the issue for us: We don't want the player to worry about which parts of the game to pay for - with our system, they get it all."

I like burst dmg more on my stamdk. Corrosive Armor to ignore enemy resistance then wrecking blow followed by a light attack then 2h execute. Have the Earthenheart CC if they get slippery.

If i remember right, that was from hilarious video back year or so.
It was a trial boss fight and and TeamSpeak leader was funny as *** with his instructions to his party.
"Now dps slowly. I said f.........slowly" gave it up for me, remember i was loling my ass off.

Sounds like your Dunmer and I would get along quite nicely.

Yes! The hots! Set it and forget it. The ticking green numbers of our life juice, casually reminding us that we are not to worry, but to go out there and dot up the enemy.

Only thing I like better than DoTs are AoE DoTs. Volley, Caltrops, Blockade, etc.

Agree. My magsorc has exactly zero single target skills slotted. From her lightning heavy attack to her LL, Blockade, Boundless Storm and even her ultimates - everything is AoE. Beautiful sparkly AoE! :)
