Only add-on you'll ever need: Map Pins.

It shows lorebooks, skyshards, public dungeon bosses, treasure maps and a ton more stuff. I imagine it would conflict with separate mods that also do those same things ... for example, I doubt you could have Map Pins AND a separate add-on for skyshards both at the same time. They'd probably conflict with each other, so one would stop working. The great thing is, though, that you wouldn't need anything else but Map Pins.

You mean cheats right? :* For me it's the mini map. That is the main reason why I went from Xbox One to PC.

Also get Minion to install the mods for you.

Download minion - Get "assist rapid riding". Being able to switch out a skill on your bar every time you mount or manually via a key bind to rapids will change your life. I'm not even remotely joking. The game is unplayable for me without it.

    That and a minimap lol.

Before anyone can advise you on mods you need to explain how you are playing the game. For some, it is unplayable without 30 mods, for some it is totally playable without a single mod. It all depends on your approach - for example, are you looking for shortcuts, hand-holding etc? Marketing mods because you intend to be a serious trader?

Another vote for Map Pins here: http://www.esoui.com/downloads/info1881-MapPins.html

Why rely on updates for several addons when you can have all in one neat regularly updated package?

Just curious, maybe this will help the original poster as well. What are map pins? Why are they needed?

I'm playing with many many mods, most of which have since become vital to my gaming experience. Imma try to make a reduced list of them for you. Since you're a new player, I'm steering clear of grinding add-ons like SkyShard, ChestMaster, etc
    • (Subjectively) Necessary

    Combat :
Light Attack Helper - pretty good if you want to get started on "weaving"

    Crafting:
    MultiCraft

    Inventory :
Advanced Filters - will make your inventory so much easier to manage
QualitySort - allows you to sort items by quality

    General Stuff:
Clock - Tamriel Time - so you remember when it's time to eat and/or sleep
Harven's Custom Map Pins (Markers) - the best thing ever, just, map pins everywhere, wherever you want them
Mer Character Sheet - more details on your character sheet
No Interact - so you stop opening already empty containers
NoAccidentalStealing - so you stop stealing stuff you didn't mean to take on accident
Votan's Adaptative (Video-)Settings - if your computer slows down at times, it will adapt video setting to save the FPS
Votan's Improved Locations - sorts your map location information
Votan's Minimap - a minimap; sooo incredibly useful

    Role-Playing:
TrueExploration - to get that feeling of genuinely exploring a map and discovering new places

    • Advanced

    Combat :
Advanced Synergies - makes synergies easier to see on screen if you're like me and keep missing them
Combat Cloud - tons of customizable combat information
Combat Metrics - if you want to see the details about your damage, regeneration, etc
Fast Ride - for when you unlock the Rapid Maneuver skill, will automatically slot said skill when you get on your mount and unslot it when you get back on-foot

    Crafting:
Crafting Writ Assistant - does what it says : assists you in crafting writ.
    Dolgubon's Lazy Writ Crafter
    Potion Maker (for Alchemy Crafting)

    Fishing:
    Bait Counter
    Rare Fish Tracker
Votan's Fish Fillet - life-saving add-on that will fillet a whole bunch of fish for you and spare your E key
    Votan's Fisherman

    General Stuff:
    Auto Daily Rewards
Chat Window Manager - will automatically reduce the chat window so you have a less cluttered screen
ImmersionToggles - so you pick what UI elements show and when they do; I use them to hide the reticle
More Target Information - very useful when stealing stuff so you don't waste time approaching a NPC you can't pickpocket
SlippyCheeze's Read it Once - so you stop wasting time opening books you've already read; just press E twice quickly if you want to anyway (note - an annoying aspect of this add on is that you then can't re-read books from your inventory you've already read. I circumvent this with Librarian Book Manager but yeah, keep it in mind)

    Inventory:
Auto Category - Custom Inventory Categories
AwesomeGuildStore - makes the guild store more pleasant to browse
Dustman - will automatically "trash" items you deem useless for you
    Item Saver

    Role-Playing:
Custom Idle Animation - you can pick which animations play when you're idle
LorePlay - Emotes, Outfits, and More!

PC/EU - PVE 2H stam orc petsorc (meta, what meta?) ww - terrible dps - mediocre player - fun times - free ww bites to whomever asks so don't be shy if interested

I like Minimap from Fryklin. (I think I spelt his name wrong. I just like his borders and it has the time included. Just wish I knew how to turn it into a 12 hour clock instead of 24 hours. :)

Pretty sure some of these were already mentioned:

    Trading: Master Merchant, Advanced Filters
Combat: Combat Metrics, Constellations, Buff Timers
Groups: Auto Invite, Group Loot Notifier
    PVP: Pvp Alerts
    Map: Map Pins, Harvest Map
    Crafting: Multi Craft, Trait Buddy
    Messages: Postmaster
    Porting: Home Port
Gear and bar switch: Alpha gear
    Adblock: Hide Login Announcement

You probably also want to pick a general UI, try them out which one suits you. (I'm using AUI but that is outdated and not being updated anymore so would not recommend it...)

First of all download and install Minion to keep all of you add ons up-to-date.

    http://minion.mmoui.com/

Use Minion to search on ESOUI.com (switch tab in Minion to "Find More") and download from Minion so all your add on is been kept updated by Minion. After you have downloaded an add on you can now right click on it to get options for what to do.

The most important Add Ons are actually Votan's keybinder as it make it possible to keybind and search for keybind for all your Add Ons in its own section from Settings>Controls.

Add On clearer adds an option in Add On section to select or unselect all with keybind or click in window.

Another thing most people here left out is that from character selection screen (where you pick which character to play after you have logged into account/game server with user ID and password) you can control which add on should be enabled or disabled for all of your character. (There is also a third status where some character have enabled and other have disabled an add on where you can see it is greyed with a dot instead of a cross.) If you later go to Settings>Add On when you have logged into your character, you will now only be able to control which add on will be active for that character.

    Emacs
make it possible to use alteration keys like shift, control, alt etc as a keybind combination.

Auto Category makes it much easier to see what you have in inventory and other places. It places also new item at top of list and create a Sell section if you have items that are to be sold to vendors. It works great with FCOM ItemSaver which is also listed on Auto Category site among a couple of other add ons. There are plenty of filters, some which only add a drop down list to filter by and other a new icon above inventory listed. Advanced Filter is large group of drop down filter that is handy when you are looking for something (even when you have auto category
which keep things more in order). Recipes are a large group that can be messy to sort out which is for furniture, which is food and which is drinks and one of Advanced Filter offer just that so you can see only food recipes, drinks or furniture recipes filtered from each other.

For searching items and to keep track of things across different characters I use Inventory Insight. For this to work you need to log into each of your character once to create a copy of that information that this add on make use of, that is the same method most of add on use when you need to share information across other character then the one you are playing.

MasterThief do more then help you to steal, it offers a way to directly see which character know what recipes and motifs. TraitBuddy and CraftStore Wolfhunter do much of the same, but CS adds feature like a new interface for Alchemy, Enchanting and Provisioning where can get daily Writs ready to craft by clicking on icon for a book. It also have other feature for those crafts which make it a much easier way to level up those crafts. Finding the right combo of traits for alchemy is much easier with CS UI as an example and you can craft several pots with just one click (there are fields to tell how many to craft with each click).

LUI Extended have grown from being most about showing onscreen information about damage, buffs, heals and status to also include a very useful module for showing all information in chat about loot, repair and all transaction/events/changes like moving item to/from bank, increase in XP, AP and changes of Gold etc.
I turn off the in game notification for looting items and can now see in chat what I did get (you can go back in chat which you can't with only a short display of what loot you have got). It is now possible to disable each module one don't need or want to use in LUI Extended.

If you only want to use chat announcement module you can do that and use another UI for showing status of attributes and buffs/debuffs.

For keeping track of achievement there is Votan's Achievement Overview which display achievement in a more easier way to access in my opinion. Combine that with Kyoma's Global Achievements which let you compare across character how far you got in one achievement without changing character (you need to use same method first time as for II to get info collected). This add on adds a small drop down list where you pick which characters achievement to show.
Mer Achievement Filters adds another drop down list to filter between Started, Unearned and earned achievement.

Dye Station Achievement Links makes it easier to see which achievement you need to do to get access to that dye and how far you are to get there.

Goto and Easy Travel adds option to teleport by opening up your main map (default keybind [M]). Open map and now you have a section for all of your guilds members, all your friends and group (if you are being in a group or raid) where you just click and teleport to nearest Wayshrine of that person or you go to section where you can see each zone and click to teleport from those in that list that might be in that zone as you want to go to. Easy Travel searches those list for any member of guild, friend, group or raid that might be there and then count down from 7 second. In the case of Clockwork City you might need to use Goto (members listed) and pick The Brass Fortess (sort by place instead of names) as it seems Easy Travel will not TP, if you pick Clockwork City as destination (probably because that WS is named The Brass Fortess where most people are going to and not Clockwork City [no WS have that name]).

ESO have its own section here on forum for Add Ons: https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/categories/add-ons-and-ui-mods

If you have question or need help ask it might better to go in that section as developers and people keeping those add on updated are visiting those pages more likely then here in general forum or read section for comments (fourth tab from left) for each add on on ESOUI.com as there might be some info from those people working on that particular add on and people often report issues on that section.
