Why I cancelled my sub .. what about you?

Now first and foremost , before anyone starts up with the “nobody cares” toxicity that seems to occur when anyone posts anything that may not line up with what they agree with , I wanted to share why I cancelled my sub. I would also encourage others who have cancelled to state why as well . Who knows , maybe we can actually get a response . Or maybe we can just leave our experiences here for future potential buyers of the game (granted they actually visit the forums ). I cancelled my sub due to issues going unfixed for so long . Trial bugs and the whole month PvP was unplayable to be precise . It seems like if it doesn’t involve you giving them money from the crown store , it’s on the back burner . How about you ?

Ah, but ZOS probably does. I do too, because if enough people stop subbing, you can forget about further game development.

Surprised that ZOS doesn't send out a "Why did you stop subbing" survey to be honest. For the record, I still sub but between the twice-in-the-past-year console PVP game-breaking issues, and now the washed out HDR implementation, I'll admit I'm starting to waver a bit. It's been more bad than good for me the past year.

I have no plans to stop subbing. ESO provides well over half of my entertainment and it's a great value compared to going to see a couple of movies a month. Especially when you get sucked in by the likes of Infinity War. Terrible movie. There, I said it.

I stopped subbing because of PvP & the lack of updates in regards to it. If I were ZOS I would have weekly posts addressing what I did that week to try and improve PvP experience, tests I ran, and feedback I've incorporated. ZOS has done none of those things in regards of weekly address; Communication IMO is important no matter how small & the severe lack of it shows how much they care.
This is not a shot to Brian wheeler because IMO he is the only developer I can rely on as he seems to give a damn, everyone else has yet to show me.

That is like me. I still sub but I don't buy crown crates no more. Once the game becomes unplayble for me I will stop with ESO+. For now since I am only doing PvE I am not having issues that effect PvP but if I ever do that, then it might be time to find a game that can do it properly then.

I stopped subbing when Morrowind came out because it wasn't included in the perks. I only subbed for the DLC access, but since that stopped being a perk, the subscription lost a lot of its value for me.

I stopped subbing when they released the Crown Crates. I truly believe with those they don't need the money from the subs. Please note, just because others and myself no longer sub, it doesn't mean we no longer support the game. I buy the chapters, have bought crown packs although now with gifting crown items the packs will probably no longer be bought.

Subscriptions are a drop in the bucket compared to Crown Store sales. ZOS doesn't really care about subs and learned this the hard way when they tried to implement the game as 'sub-required'... it just didn't bring in the revenue they needed. Thus, their marketing began to revolve around Crown Store sales... and THAT is where ZOS makes there money.

I stopped subbing when I thought there was a bug with stats on wolfhunter pts. As it turns out, the bug was actually a fix and the lower stats were the correct amount after the bug fix.

Then I started thinking about all the nerfs we have endured, on pve side of things. Some of them were because of pvp imbalance, some were not. I worked very hard to get my dps to where it is, and everytime I bump it up a notch it seems like I'm bumped back to where I was with some kind of nerf.

Then I looked at the current state of pve. Everyone is running siroria or relequin. Those sets are over performing by a large margin. And guess what, another nerf is coming to those sets eventually. They came with summerset expansion so it may take awhile for them to get nerfed because people paid money for the expansion, but trust me they will.

And then I look at the sustain, it's just horrible. I have to play a boring heavy attack build just to not have to fight with resources the whole time. And when we spec into regen, damage goes down ayway. And to make it worse, recovery food has low health. So either we either have to do lower damage AND have super low health. Or put on a health glyph and do even less damage.

I still play daily, but honestly I think the only reason is because I've invested so much time already into this world.

ZOS, fix the game, stop pushing out updates and breaking more things. Work on what is broken first. Then, you will get my money again

    Really wanna know why:
    General
Respec costs are now actually 1 gold per skill point in the UI, and will remain 1 gold until a future incremental.
The original intent for reducing the respec costs were so PC players could regain any skill points that may have been lost with changes made to the Devour ability. We’ll be fixing that underlying issue in the next console patch, so there isn’t a need to adjust the respec costs. In addition, we didn’t want to introduce any of the UI/purchasing issues that occurred on PC with the console update; this included the wrong gold amount being displayed, and not being able to purchase a respec if you didn't have enough gold, despite it only costing 1 gold per skill point.
Apologies, everyone. Due to a publishing error, console players who qualified for the Flame Atronach Wolf pet and 5 Ouroboros Crown Crates during QuakeCon will receive them the next time we perform maintenance on console, which will be September 12 (the same day we'll award the ones for the Bethesda Gameplay Days event).
Just posted a reply in a different thread, but just so you all are aware too, the change to HDR was intended to aid in some overly-saturated assets found throughout the game but it had some unintended consequences. We’re continuing to evaluate the changes that were made in today’s patch, and will keep everyone updated on the status.

If it was intended then why is there no mention of it in any patch notes? Why has PC not had any problems with HDR? I will be canceling my ESO+ auto renewal until this is resolved.

The missing patch note was completely my fault. It was sent to me, and I forgot to add it. My apologies.

    That's why.

We get told that if it is not in the Notes we shouldn't expect it to happen for console

Then we get "publishing errors" and completely forgotten about.

I don't pay to be treated like second class, forgotten about, and straight up ignored

I think it would be interesting to see the breakdown by revenue source... Crowns vs ESO Plus. All we have here is baseless idle speculation. Personally, I do not think that ESO Plus is "a drop in the bucket" compared to Crowns. For all the talk in here about dropping subscriptions, I expect that it is mainly that. Talk. I think the majority of the active players are currently subscribed to ESO Plus. The real question is how many of them purchase Crowns in addition to that.

Seriously, the updates are why I subscribe. If they stopped doing them to take time off for nothing but bug fixes, I would have little reason to pay them. I'm all for fixing bugs, but if they want to take extra measures to fix bugs, they have to make that an investment and do it along side the updates.

The game performance issues are kind of one of the reasons I keep subbing. I figure they need the money that badly and I'd rather not see it go into maintenance mode forever. They've got to be ramen-for-every-meal destitute to be going this berserk with the crown store, I mean yeesh.

    Xbox wise...lies, lies, poor ethics

Initially it was due to not recovering crowns after paying...for months in a row (year 1)

The second time it was the same reason but they lied and announced this was fixed. Turned out it was not (year 2)

This time, I thought to test to see if it was resolved. It as not but the last straw was that I pre-ordered the digital CE edition for Summerset and somehow i got everything except that. The ticket went on for over a month resulting in them saying they would refund me and i would need repurchase it again...but never received a refund

Edit: side note is I passionately disagree with ESO Plus being setup for exclusive features that aren’t available for purchase otherwise but I refuse to use eso plus just for a crafting back and inventory space as it’s an intentional design to force a sub when it was marketed that it wouldn’t be required...now turns out it is required

While I do check the forums from time to time...I think that was the last straw. Performance hasn’t been so bad on the Xbox one x however the crashing continues even after using an external ssd and wired 1 gig connection

I think people on this forum take things far too seriously (I know I have, at times, with that darn sprint bug in PVP :/). ZOS is a business. If they don't make money, ESO ends, plain and simple. If you don't want to pay for a sub or crowns, fine. But if everyone doesn't, we'll all be finding other things to do. People make mistakes and everyone doesn't get what they want. Sounds a lot like life.

Sometimes I'm cruising through a dungeon, or fighting a big battle in PVP, when I just stop to look around, and marvel at what I see. ESO is awesome. Voice the frustrations in a constructive way, but don't let them blur your perception at what is really an incredible achievement.

I have to buy the chapters anyway...I'm not interested in the dungeon DLCs...i'll just need to buy some crowns for any future zone DLCs...

Unsubbed over a month ago due to performance issues, but also mostly because I wanted to play other games, which I am soooo enjoying single player right now I don't even want to come back to ESO. :# Mayyybe will sub again for one month when Witches Festival comes around.
I honestly just want to give up on the game altogether, too much time invested though, they really need to fix the servers if they want to keep loyal people here who have stuck with it since the beginning, but lately it seems all they care about is new players and lots of new crown store cosmetics to gouge their wallets.

If a business fails to provide a quality product, or the product is not what as advertiosed, then their customerbase has every right to pull the rug from under them. If you are the type to mindlessly throw your money at a company/businesss of their service then you're in for a rough ride in life.

You should also try to refrain from using any words more complex than those used by a small child due to the fact that said enforcers have made it clear that their vocabulary pool is aenemic.

Well I finally cancelled my sub today, and will not be returning to the game anytime in the future. I've been playing for 4 years, and no matter how much I've respecced, re-armored, practiced my rotations, basically everything in game to get better, I was horrible in PvP, I did Maelstrom for 2 years, and never got passed the 4th boss, vDSA was an elite club of players who decided who was and wasn't allowed to continue to the end, never finished any of the DLC vet dungeons, never won any Battlegrounds, and to add to all of this the toxic community decided I was a troll, trolled me, reported me and had my account suspended 3 times. Well I'm done as of today. This game is no longer worth my time.

P.S. the huge amount of bugs in this game and the lag in PvP was another reason. Poor quality, and even worse community.
