Its worthless in that there is no measurable value or purpose in having that system in that category of content. Dont confuse the distinction. No one is talking about diminishing personal values in this game. Its about curbing entitlement for players who want something just because as opposed to having a legitimate reason for wanting it.

Humor me on this one, why would a solo contnet casual player desire transmutation crystals? Aside from the two reasons i mentioned already?

Neither of those reasons you talked about are why I want to transmute gear, and I'm also not a "casual player." I'll use a metaphor that plays off one of the reasons you listed in an attempt to facilitate understanding, though.

The general intent of the transmute system was to lessen gear grinds for 'best in slot' gear, with 'best in slot' defined as 'gear that aligns with the most effective tactic available for completing competitive PvP or PvE group/raid content.' This definition of 'best in slot' reflects the values of gamers who regularly do PvP or PvE raids. What happens if we look at the values of a different type of gamer? As it says in my signature, I focus on creativity. I envision a particular character and work within the game to make that vision a reality. A significant part of realizing that vision is what the character wears for gear. For someone like me, 'best in slot' is defined more along the lines as 'gear that aligns with my character's personality and identity.'

I get that the competitive PvP and PvE raid scene might find this difficult to understand, but I take my version of 'best in slot' as seriously as you do yours. In other words, it isn't "casual" for me. t's very, very serious. Unlike you guys, I don't get transmute system padding if I seek out gear. It's not built into the content that I do like it is for you. When I go opening dozens of chests looking for a stygian jewelry, I don't get any chance of getting transmute crystals from those chests. Worse, that stygian necklace will never drop in the trait I need for my character, because it literally does not exist in the game unless you transmute it. It was the jewelry crafting implementation that really got me up in arms about how transmutation crystals are allocated, honestly.

At any rate, that's enough about that. Folks who play this game for different reasons through different sets of values are unlikely to see eye to eye on these matters... or even understand the other perspectives at all. The developers are aware of it though, and for the most part they do a good job of accommodating it. I understand there are limits to what can be done, but I don't feel like adding small percent chances for transmute crystals from a few overland sources are outside of those limits. Or allowing a telvar conversion, for that matter (though that isn't something I could use).

So you don't think that there should be any other way to gain transmute? Do you think the current alotment is fine?
There are better than half a dozen ways to gain Transmute crystals right now. How many more do you honestly need?
    • Trials coffers
    • Trials end boss
    • vMA
    • Pledges
    • RDF Dailies
    • End boss chance for geodes
    • 1st RftW mail daily
    • Alliance end of campaign rewards.
    • Event boxes

Tel var stones are STACKABLE and can be deposited in unlimited quantities into a bank. You can't do that with the geodes you get from all those methods.

Transmuting a full 5-pc set takes only 250 transmute stones ... which is one (1) 30-day PvP geode over the transmute cap.

There’s really no need to have more stones on-hand than that.

Your needs and my needs are different. I've had days where I really needed thousands of transmute stones to accomplish what I wanted. Imagine you're testing builds for PvP, and you want a full body set of Destruction Mastery which doesn't drop in Impenetrable. Boom, that's 250 stones right there to test something for a few minutes.

It's getting kind of tiresome seeing all the comments in this thread where some players are telling other players what they need or don't need. I think we can decide for ourselves! Jesus, if I only had a transmute stone for every time I heard some know-it-all say "You don't really need this trial/monster/Maelstrom gear blah blah blah..."

Yes... and how many of these are available to solo players who only do quest content?!? Oh, but apparently we don't want to transmute our gear in ZOS' mind. Locking this feature behind content that most solo players don't play is a bunch of b.s.

Cyrodiil PvP is solo content. I never group there, and that's how I get all my transmute stones. I just follow the zerg for an hour and recieve 50 stones.

And you don't need BiS gear as a solo player as there is no endgame solo content other than vMA. You don't even grind BoP gear as it only drops from gorup content.
