What the H do I do with this 307 legendary JC master writ?

Ain’t nobody crafting that lol

Why are these crazy high JC writs dropping left and right? Whoever designed all this JC stuff needs to go take a walk and never return

They increased the writ value of JC writs drastically to make it more worthwhile since it's so costly to make them. Someone will buy it from you I'd say

A chromium grain is currently going for about 7k on PC. A plate would then be 70k.

4 plates (to go from purple to gold) would be 280k

3 zircon plates (to go from blue to purple) would be another 60k

So it will cost a player 340K+ gold to craft the jewelry for a 307 voucher master writ.

Conclusion: If ZOS isn't willing to re-think gold jewelry in general, voucher values for legendary writs still need to go up by about 1.3-1.5x what they are now

If I got one of those now I would treat it as a long term investment. I would put it away in a storage box and leave it there in the hope that in a few months, or maybe in a few years I would have enough chromium to make it worthwhile to craft it.

Since gold jewellery is meant to be hard to craft to maintain a rareness and promote trials then top end crafting for jewels should really award something else instead of master writs or make the writs award a lot more vouchers. But why gain vouchers via jewel writs when you can save your gold/plates and do woodworking writs instead?

More valuable to sell the mats and buy other profession writs.

More money needs to be spent on maths lessons at ZOS

And what item or items have held their value over time? None. Zos isn’t going to change the vouchers per writ based on current market value of items in each server.

Before the update, I offloaded those for 1 gold a voucher as a sort of protest to ZOS and so that even if the buyer doesn't know how ridiculously expensive it is to make them, they wouldn't feel ripped off when they realize their mistake.

After the update, I have increased it to 10 gold a voucher, which is still arguably overpriced, but generally assuages my guilt for allowing such a wallet-destroying abomination to exist.

The ones that, despite time, are still hard to get. You don't get a Chromium Grain just like that, it can take even days to get one, farming it or not. And now imagine getting 10 Chromium Grains to make only 1 Chromium Plating.

Jewelry nodes overland are not everywhere like nodes of blacksmithing, clothing, enchanting and so.

Unless ZOS changes something, I don't see why price would go down.

This is a fantastic point. Clearly they've set JC up as a niche craft only to be done when you absolutely need it. Having master writs for this in the first place makes little sense, especially for legendary items where the cost is so much greater than the legendary cost of other equipment.

Instead of a chance at master writs, we should get a chance at double upgrade mats or just a bag of random upgrade mats or something.

Actually you do get a chromium grain just like that. I just got one for doing a writ(check patch notes)

Jewelry nodes are everywhere, they share the same location as blacksmithing nodes and they also made blacksmith nodes a chance to drop jewelry mats. (Check patch notes)

They also reduced the amount of plating needed by half to make it easier, again check patch notes.

Give it time prices will go down.

But even if prices go down to match tempers (I don't think they ever will), you still need 30 purple upgrade items and 40 gold upgrade items.

So 40 gold mats at 5k gold (current price of tempers) is 200k, and 30 purple mats at 500 gold (rough est of purple upgrade mats) is another 15k

Jewelry costs will never drop lower than 215k for legendary, and this is an estimate that assumes years of value depreciation. And for what it's worth, all of my math has been based around the reduced costs introduced from wolfhunter.

Side note, I think it's kind of ridiculous to base arguments around pricing we might see in 2 or 3 years. 2 or 3 months, sure, but not 2 or 3 years. The same can be said for ZoS' strategy regarding these writs / JC in general.

    Edit:

    2 other points to consider:

    1) Not every play has access to jewelry crafting, unlike the base professions. This increases scarcity of the upgrade mats (and mats in general) because you have less characters doing dailies

    2) JC is extremely long / grindy to level compared to other professions. Many players have still not maxed out JC, and it will be a long, long time before you see the average player with more than one character at 50 JC. This further reduces the pool of gold mats, which let's face it is mostly going to come from these dailies.

No, they changed the amount of platings required for each tier: green = 1, blue = 2, purple = 3, gold = 4. 10 grains = 1 plating.

Maybe find out the in-game @ name of the person in charge of jewelry crafting and send it to them. :D

I almost feel bad for selling the old ones at 50gp each ........ almost

Guess I need to raise my prices to maintain ratio parity.

Still a waste of an inventory slot which I had to pay for.

    Also

Recently I've noticed I never get a double drop with jewellery nodes as I do with all the others, even with the surveys. Was this deliberate or just missed?

Another option for balance would be to reduce the base level quality of a master writ to Superior (blue) and have the more rare writs be Epic (purple). No one is going to spend 300k+ gold to complete a 300 voucher master writ. From my experience, obtaining Zircon Platings is comparable to obtaining legendary level tempers for other crafts.

The wife and I are on Xbox NA, I'm sure she'd buy them. Do you sell them personally or through a Guild Trader?

I destroy all mine. They are not good value.

Also I am struggling to find enough platinum to maintain daily jewellery crafting writs.

Only 1 of my 4 crafters does jewellery dailies as I am always short of platinum ounces, even after spending time farming for it.

There seems to be a lot of individual bots going after blacksmithing, cloth and wood nodes, especially in Craglorn. I expect this is part of the problem. (I report each and every one for botting, but it doesn't seem to help reduce their numbers. Starter areas are worse for bots. PC/NA)

So I don't know about other crafters, but lack of raw resources seem to be my problem.

(I won't buy platinum ounces from guildstores because of the possibility of buying from bots, which will just exacerbate the problem.)
