Refine jewelry dust with the appropriate passive unlocked or decon purple quality rings for a chance at getting them.

Or buy them from a guild store.

HAHAHA.... yeah. Grind. Grind, grind, grind. Then hope that after deconning like 50 things and refining a few thousand platinum grains you get maybe ONE zircon.

I dunno why people have such a hard time with mats

I have enough to make a full set of jewelry, upgraded.

I decon the 100s of jewelry pieces I get from BGs.

Got all the passives unlocked right?

One full set? That only proves the point.

"Get all the Passives". The standard answer. I HAVE all the passives. Seriously, the drop rate for chromium is actually higher than zircon.

With full passives, the chance to get a purple grain from deconstructing purple jewelry is quite high, maybe 75%. Check the economy. Purple rings are sometimes sold beneath their value when you consider the price of purple grains. Platinum dust is sometimes undervalued, when you consider that you can make CP150 platinum rings for others to deconstruct for leveling. For a time I was able to keep the Zircon grains and break even from selling the Chromium and making CP150 rings.

    Interesting thoughts. Thanks!

Another way to get zircon grains aside from refining platinum dust, is to deconstruct any “epic” quality jewellery. You may not always get one, but as sotha sil said(to the best of my memory.) the slightest chance is always the best variable.

What @VaranisArano said, he knows quite a fair bit.

Not every player can do battlegrounds that well unless their character is properly built for PvP all up @Waffennacht but a good point nonetheless.
If you see me anywhere. Know that I am sitting back with a bag of popcorn, watching as ESO burns the goodwill of its player base with practices that only disrespects the players time like it did to me and many others...

If a game does not respect your time, best thing to do is move on from it and find something else.

If you go the decon purple jewelry route, theres a couple ways to acquire a bunch, fast.

For PVP: spend AP on the lockboxes at the Cyrodiil town vendors. Those have a pretty good chance of dropping jewelry and its always purple quality.

For PVE: run vet dungeons and hope you get jewelry drops.

For overland PVE: run Dolmens loops and hope you get purple jewelry. Abyssal Geysers work well too, but are slower and require more effort than Dolmens - though you get better loot. This is the most efficient way I found to get green and blue jewelry en masse for leveling jewelry crafting. If you are trying to level other crafts as well, running a chest farming loop will get you a more balanced set of loot.

If you've got the money: buy purple rings from guild vendors.

I loathe PVP (probably because I'm really, really bad at it). but I do have a bit of AP stashed away. What are these lockboxes in the Cyrodil towns?

In Bruma, for example, the specialized gear vendor sells Eagle Eye 3-trait purple coffers for AP (12k per coffer if I recall correctly). The loot tables are limited to only 3 items in this coffer: Necklace, Ring, Bow.

eh....I just got my tank up to CP level the other day and I was low on zircon so I could not take my jewelry up to purple without spending ludicrous amounts of gold at guild traders. Anyway I tanked a trial 3 times yesterday in all purple Ebon Armor and all blue jewelry.......skill>gear ;)

I agree with the frustration but still feel like after the newness of jewel crafting wears off drop rates will be adjusted. Hang in there folks and keep farming those bg/dolmens.

Check the usual suspects among the gear sites for dungeon sets that have a high number of unique jewelry and drop in easy dungeons. Farm it on vet and decon it.

I recommend vVoM for this task. Could be even done without tank and/or heal since most bosses are weak and only one or two would require tanking. It can be done fast and you have a chance to get 8 named jewels (although some drop at the same minor boss).

THE biggest disappointment when crafting jewelry dropped, an absolute ridiculous grind.

    Greetings,

We have gone ahead and closed this thread down since it is rather old. Please keep in mind that sometimes it is better to create a new topic, instead of replying in one that was posted a while ago.

    Thanks for your understanding.
