Stuck on child of bones in coldharbor

My wife made a new Templar but when she gets to the child of bones with the prophet the camera pans up and glitches out saying break free but u cant, and no other buttons work, I tried get me unstuck..were on PS4 any ideas?

No we really can't get out of the child of bones fight..tried everything but he keeps incapacitating her, and the break free won't work

I’d check the controls menu and make sure that break free is actually bound to something. I made a new character yesterday and had a similar issue with dodgeroll.

I'm with Ferrofluid, check the control scheme and make sure the button you think is for Break Free actually is mapped correctly. Happens to all of us.

I think there may be more of an issue here than controls not being bound to a key properly. I'm not even sure if that's a thing on console - I seem to remember hearing complaints from console players that they couldn't change the way their controls were bound, but maybe that's old and they can do that now.

Anyway, I could be remembering wrong because it's now been a while since I last did that fight, but I didn't think there was even a phase in the Child of Bones fight where you needed to break free at all... So it sounds to me like something may be badly bugged.

Are you using break free properly? Try binding it to a different button and see what happens.

Try a different controller first. It can happen that one will stop working in the weirdest ways.

There are three console controller profiles but I think break free is the same on all. I use a Razer Raiju - so can remap buttons - but as break free requires simultaneous pressing of two, I don't think it's even possible to remap that.

Make another Identical Char, use the skip the tutorial option. Watch that part on youtube. Break free lately seems to decide it doesn't wanna work.

If you own morrowind or summerset I don't think you can skip that part since it's not part of the tutorial with those. Did she happen to equip the assassin personality? Idk if it's her first character or not, but if she equipped that it may be the problem because that personality is extremely buggy and causes stuff like that when I use it. Other than that I can't think of anything that would cause that to happen, might need contact support/file a bug report if nothing works to get past it.

Not sure if this will help but... When you go to do the break free, hold block first and then press attack. I know the game says both at the same time, but block needs to be pressed first. If attack is pressed even a micro second before block it wont go through.

I just finished that quest yesterday on a new character (sorcerer). I do not recall being incapacitated. But I did not stand next to the Child of Bones.

Equip a distance weapon (staff or bow). Stay out of melee range. Keep moving around the Child of Bones, and keep attacking with your ranged weapon ( press R2 button). If you have any distance attack unlocked on your templar, like Sun Fire, alternate that with the ranged weapon attack. The Prophet is with you for that battle, and will help some. Likely it will take a while, but the Child of Bones will fall.
