OK. Giant Clams need to NOT have Alkahest, Guts inside. That's ridiculous.

There are SO FEW of those; there never needs to be ALKAHEST or GUTS (or other crap) in such a rare resource.

Giant clams produce non-nacreous, non-spherical pearls and otherwise do not contain any mother of pearl. You can create fake pearls from giant clam shells because internally they contain a porcelain-like aragonite. But those pearls lack the iridescence and polish of a true gem-quality pearl. It's oysters that are the primary commercial source of nacre.

But in a giant clam you're definitely going to have internal organs and non-potable liquid. That's a realistic harvest.

I know it's a fantasy game, but this is definitely a case where the developer made an assumption based on an inaccurate trope instead of researching how different mollusks create pearls made of different materials.

Alkahest is what the devs use as a filler when they don’t know what to put in something. I have almost 32000 Alkahest.

Sell that straight up. Not even to players, just dump that steamin Alkhest on an in-game merchant.

A stack of 200 sells for 600 gold... you're sitting on 96,000 gold in Alkhest xD

If I did not frequent the forums, I would not know giant clams were something special. I wouldn't even pick them up, once I discovered they were just basically garbage cans. Based on in-game observation, there is no reason to pick them up.

@ZOS_RobGarrett. @ZOS_RichLambert The giant clams contain nothing compelling to pick up. If the intent is to deliver some super special thing with them, they seem to miss the mark by a wide margin.

I personally don't find it that ridiculous because I've played the Bethesda ES games before and have grown accustomed to creatures carrying absurd items, it's just another small staple of the series at this point.

Old Salty wants his Tankard and Boots back, but he ain't gettin them back!

(On the note of Old Salty - the actual ES3: Morrowind game literally had a Mudcrab merchant... a MERCHANT - if that crap can happen in canon in ES, then I'm not about to start questioning guts and alkahest in a clam.)

Farming giant clams for alkahest is a waste of time. You can get it almost as fast by playing some other game. You can get a lot more of it, and much more easily, just killing reptiles in the dungeon there.

Imo if somebody genuinely wanted Alkahest, I would recommend they go to Vivec's Antlers in Stonefalls. Dreugh. Everywhere.

Every single drop is leathers AND alkhest. Every. Single. Drop. (And almost every Dreugh give drops)

It's also a pretty decent levelling spot, not the best, but if you were to farm there you'd pull better than average XP.

What are these Giant Clam thingies...? Haven't seen one yet. Come to think of it, haven't found a single Pyandonean motif in a bottle yet, either.
