How has ESO influenced your real life?

After my two older cats passed away, a feral stray kitten showed up at my house and I named him Sweetroll. For anyone who doesn't game with me, I tell them it's because "he's sweet and he likes to roll." He's taken up residence in my bathroom sink and he turns 2 today (also my birthday, but I told him we could share it since I don't know his real one). Since he was diagnosed with Toxoplasmosis and Feline Leukemia, he had to become an indoor-only cat. I often call him "the tiny Baandari" because he likes to open cabinets and "liberate" things when I'm not looking.

I also have to stop myself from slamming on the brakes every time I turn on the street named Columbine (and pay attention to the road instead of looking for alchemy plants).

And since I live in the desert, I think of my house as being in Alik'r and always have to remember where I really live when people ask.

Has ESO influenced your real life, and if so, how?

I have a feral that showed up and I named him M'iaq. I ask him 3 questions in hopes that he will run away and give me some peace, no luck so far.

    @Woodenheart Awesome post!!
Has ESO influenced your real life, and if so, how?

It did. After I won my 30 days campaign with purple equipments and 6 months on the game, I was definitely sure there was something different inside my guts. Since then, I have never been the same I was before...

And I never suffered anxiety again

It’s helped me through a lot of tough nights. And still does. It’s an escape. And it’s a release. I can just log in and forget about the world. It’s helped with my confidence and my ability to talk to others.
It just makes me happy. When I can’t play, I obviously go and do other stuff. But I’ll always come back to ESO.
    It’s like home.

I did meet a guildmaster with severe Munchausen by internet - after being emotionally blackmailed and threatened with suicide for weeks, I’m now more cautious with people like this on the internet and in general. Also more prone to notice signs of toxic people early since then. On another note I met people who are now my friends on fb and we chat regularly outside the game as well, we even plan to meet one day. I guess aside from spending 2 months+ of my life playing so far, it was beneficial in these aspects.

ESO kept me sane through a dark period. Between playing and then discovering streamers I really liked watching, I was able to pull out of the darkness. Not only that, but I haven't returned to the darkness in a serious way in a couple of years now.

Also, I've worked through a lot of anxiety and stranger danger issues I've had for years. Not 100% through it yet, but I am so much better than I was 5 years ago. We can also thank Twitter for helping with this one.

I'm connecting with people. Which bleeds through to some degree in my real life/work life. Especially with people that will play ESO with me or at the very least talk ESO with me.

I've jumped in and played with a couple people now while they streamed and I'm not at all getting weird and anti social about it. I'm all chatty on the discord with friends, but can't fricken type in other peoples streams or socialize typing in game. I think I need to join more peoples discords. But I want one of those fancy foot pedals I heard about because I have background noise more often than not.

And on a lighter note, I once named a flame point Siamese kitten Cadwell.

over the years it's been cool to read on the forums how much of an impact eso has had on a lot of folks whom may not be the most socially "dynamic" :)

took me a long time to figure out what group of people I fit in most with...

times like now - very proud to be a gamer...
