If they put the Deer back in will that fix it? I get sad about Cyrodiil being broke.

    Dear Zenimax,

I want to preface this by saying I love ESO and have been a heavy supporter of the game since playing it back in 2013 to 2015 and coming back to the game in 2016 up to present. You all had a rough start, but over all you have recovered nicely from where things began. I am not making this thread for flaming, insulting or any other form of negativity it is simply a frustration post of issues that have been plaguing the game for 4 years now and I would greatly appreciate your time reading this.

The performance of Cyrodiil has been something since the beginning of the game that I would say is at best a coin toss of wither the game will run smoothly and people have fun versus the issues I am about to bring up below. Just to put this out there. I have seen these issues on 2 different machines that exceed recommended specifications to play the game and will play other games without any issues like I see inside ESO. My ISP delivers 100Mbps download and 12Mbps upload which is more than enough to play anything online. I have also tried disabling every single addon and playing the game stock right out of the box and still have the same problems. To say the least the issue is far from being anything on my side which is why I turn to you.

    1) The lag: Sometimes I sit around 110ms ping, others I average 250ms Ping and then the horrid side of dealing with 500ms+ ping. I can always tell when the worse lag is hitting because things in bullet point 2 start happening.

    2) Abilities, Doors, Potions, something please work?: I will press abilities to go off and you can see the depression of the ability trying to fire, left clicking to shoot my staff and my character holds his arms in the air only to fire 6 fireballs out in a .2 sec timeframe while twitching vigorously, hitting that potion to heal myself? yea I hear it going off like it wants to work and can see the button depressing but nope nadda, Got a horde of enemies on your tail and your right at the door trying to get in?!?!? E > E> E> E > LET ME IN! I'm in! YES! NO! I'm back outside! OH CRAP! E > E > E > I'M BACK IN! WHEW CLOSE.... OUT AGAIN! and dead -.-

    3) HELP AT <insert keep here>: I'M COMING!!!!! long ride down only to discover EVERYONE isn't moving..... and now I'm moving at supersonic speed..... AND DISCONNECTED. Relogging back into the game..... "Unable to connect, you dont have a valid internet connection....." Hmm my wife is playing on the internet just fine..... my discord is still working and talking to people. Try logging in again, get to character screen. Loading into cyrodiil, kicked again..... Logging in again, Error 303 already logged in? Your troubleshooter says wait 5 min and try again..... I wait 5 min and log back in, yay! oh wait..... now I'm in belkarth..... I guess I'll have to requeue cyrodiil on a friday night primetime..... Queue position 143 O_O........ ALL THIS JUST BECAUSE SOMEONE YELLED THEY NEEDED HELP AT <insert keep here>.......

Additionally I would like to add I have friends that play ESO as well and they encounter the same problems and I am constantly seeing the same frustration and irritation from other players in zone chat as well. Again ZOS I think you guys have made some phenomenal improvements from what the game was doing back in 2015 versus the current game but these issues I bring up are issues that should NOT be happening at this point 4 years into a live game.

I am currently paying an ESO+ subscription to the game and have been paying it since I returned back in december 2016 to present. When I played back in 2014 to 2015 on the live game I also held a sub that entire time too. I will continue to pay the sub in support of your company and more importantly the game itself and I believe there are plenty of other people out there doing the exact same thing so please ensure us that our money is being used to correct the critical core performance issues of the game itself so we can all enjoy what you have created and will continue to create.

    Thank You,
    Defatank

There will never be "perfect balance" in PvP. At least, I hope not. I like the fact people usually tend to find they play a particular class better than another.

An example - I LOVE stamblade. But I can't play them very well and that's after years of practice ("Stamblade is teh ez mode" = codswallop!). I used to hate magsorc. So I made one. Suddenly, after a week, I can play it better than I can my stamblades. That freaked me out. So I made a magblade and I can play that even better! So it's both awesome but also messes with my head. I want to be a legendary stam player! But I'm naturally better at playing the magicka classes. And now that I main a magblade and have redesigned him from the ground up, I don't blame others for being OP, meta, stronk or to nerf things.

Because I've found what I am good at and have the confidence to survive and let people worry about ME instead.

Sure, there are a few things that have been OP - some gear sets or maybe overloading one class with something. But generally there aren't many things that any particular class can do, that bothers me. I've learned to put points into breaking free, dodge-rolling. I've learned that the strength of a damage shield is affected by how much magicka you have as well as increasing them further using CP. Now I have one damage shield (HW) and that frees up a slot for more DPS or maybe utility.

Things that suck are being jumped by a zerg (AD on Vivec - you have no shame you cowardly custards! lol), night-capping/PvPDoor-ing, low population bonuses never working etc, performance issues etc etc. Those sort of things are annoying or can be. They are also the things that do the most damage to PvP and PvP campaigns......IMHO..... ;)

Thank you OP, you put into words here my exact feelings.

Was this game not designed with a Custom Engine? After the lighting patch and moving most everything to server side, I am not sure the game(PVP/Cyrodiil) can be fixed. Due to limited function and knowledge of the engine. As a guess..

ESO is really a great MMO, If "they" would just fix the game in terms of Bugs and performance it would easily be the best MMO out there.

    Nope.

Used the same source for their engine as Swtor. Swtor deleted their equivalent to Cryo when similar issues happened and went with just Battlegrounds.

To improve Cryo alot they need a new engine... not going to happen. Best they could do is delete a bunch of eye candy(the "improved lighting") and go back to client side for toon actions...but that led to massive cheating... so we can't have nice things.

I m no tech guy, but I have a fair share of how online games work in general.
To me it is no coincidence the fact that lag is being at its max whenever you approach a zerg group , whereas in case you approach the same amount of people but randomly split into 3-4 pug (of 5-6 guys each) the lag is there but not as much.

So the very way Zerg groups are meant to be formed, is masively stacking up and spaming healing/shields and/or snares at an almost rigorous periodic way.
If you also consider that most of these teams consist of mostly guys with good internet speeds and most importantly better ping towards the server (everything below 90 is a priviledge to enjoy) , it makes it IMPOSSIBLE for random small scale groups, non zerging full groups, or random solo guys to even imagine approaching that mob.

A low ping + spamming skills (mostly via constructed macros , heh... you all know its happening) is spamming
"requests" to the server . That obviously maximizes the burden for a server that (lets also be honest) works like $h!t because the DEVS have no interest whatsoever to at least install a new ονε.

Spamming "requests" to the server (which by all means doesnt need an ultra mega fibre line, but simply some kilobytes of a connection) at a better , at a lower ping will eventually have you see your skills/attacks being landed with much delay, (the lag you see peaking on such a circumstance).

Lag will be there unless Zos bans massive groups , limits them to 10 people max or at least gives an alternative that will
    eventually help into stoping/diminishing zerging.
I see no other way here, for a game that begun as a great pleasure pvp-wise and ended up as a great discomfort.
I feel cheating (if any) or macroing is FAR less important than the damage zergs are doing to the game's (re)playability.

There is no chance of anyone banning zergs. The game was advertised and designed for large-scale player vs player battles. You also have Guilds that have been around since beta that PvP - basically, you'd be nerfing a lot of friendships by banning players from playing together.
However, zergs are an issue and more needs to be done to stop the zergs of one alliance night-capping and PvDooring when the other two alliances are not online because they are sleeping.

No one is enjoying this kind of game if it is full of lag.
Key word is "advertised". They advertised something (large scale battles) they can not deliver (due to lag and poor customer gaming experience).

"No $h!t sherlock" one might say, this is how the industry survives.
But u got my point wrong (at least I think so)
I am not advocating for banning large scale , i am advocating for banning massive groups
(or at least limit the amount of grouped players) which is the most common way we see zergs being made.

You can still have your large scale, as normal, but with a multitude of groups were players who otherwise would zerg are force to be divided into groups of max 10 people.
It might bother some who use to play in groups of 25 or so , but really its all a matter of getting used to, and above all it might somehow reduce the zerging.
Afterall they all can collaborate via discord or teamspeak and still play together.

We could do no damage to either postern no matter what equipment we used or where we shot the wall. The front door also was taking 0 damage from trebs, ballista, catapult, but by a miracle a ram was able to do damage. The outer front door from prior attempts would just sit there looking at the door but the inner managed to take damage. Eventually we were able to take the keep back, but this..... I dont know what to say for this......

    @ZOS_GinaBruno @ZOS_JessicaFolsom @ZOS_BrianWheeler

I was also in this fight, last night, for what seemed like forever.

I came back to ESO after an 8 month break, and I'm absolutely gobsmacked at how broken PvP is. I was riding the walls at Arrius, last night, and their health kept bouncing from 69% to 100%- over and over- with no one else around. Zone chat was filled with theories about what it was going to take to get BRK to take damage ("We have to own all the resources for more than 5 minutes!" "We have to own Sejanus for walls at BRK to go down!" "Shake a dead chicken over it!")

    It was ridiculous.

I'm not even looking for balance. I just want my staff to fire when I push the mouse button. I just want a wall to take damage when I hurl a rock at it.

PvP isn't broken in an "open for debate" kinda way.

    It's just legit broken.
