Riding Skill.. Anyone else feel this needs fixing?

Have to admit, I've always been impatient, and hate walking in games. So I love the utility of mounts in ESO (though I'd prefer if we could just fast travel everywhere instead on relying on wayshrines)... but it's actually practical as well because you can outrun enemies with your mount. I haven't had a problem with riding skill levelling on my one character, but I can see that people with multiple characters would find it extremely tedious.

I''m much happier with ZOS having expensive items in the shop that are completely unnecessary quality of life things than I would be if they had expensive items that are essential for playing the game (let alone P2W).

And Crown Riding Lessons are completely unnecessary, as are maximum points in all three riding skills the minute you create a character. If people choose to rush around wanting to maximise this and that in the twinkling of an eye at which point they think it should all be account-wide then that's up to them, but it's not the way that MMOs are structured. Play single player games and hack the god mode if you want those sorts of things.

Out of all the costumes and DLC I've spent my crowns on, I probably got my best money for fun worth out of the speed riding lessons I bought to finish out my new Cyrodiil toon. Totally worth it to not have to wait a month to keep up with my raid :)

I get that not everyone think that's worth it, but it was for me.

$160 pay to win in Cyrodiil. Glad it worked out for you.

Riding lessons aren’t pay to win ... 1/10 effort on post.

Because being able to keep up with your group or catch up to enemies in PVP isn't important. Right.

Yeah, it was more like "Pay crowns to keep up with my friends in Cyrodiil right now or pay gold over a month to keep up with my friends in Cyrodiil over a month" (And it wasn't $160)

Research scrolls are the same sort of pay-to-do-this-in-game-thing-faster type item.

Ive got no problem waiting for mount training normally, but riding lessons were on sale and I don't regret it. Saved me a month of frustration with falling behind and getting ganked, which I thought was totally worth it.

What's wrong with me? (Bought 3 of the 10-pack Speed lessons)

Nothing is wrong with you. You got the value that you were seeking. Nothing wrong with that at all. As long as you are happy with it, there is no wrong answer.
Not my quote but I love this saying

"I would pay It for support. But since they choosed we are just numbers and not customers, i dont mind if game and zos goes to oblivion"

It's a total cash trap, and I fall for it every time. But then I'm old, impatient, and can afford it. Totally worth it to me. Still haven't spent a dime a crown crate though :)

I don't regret it either. I always buy max mount speed from the crown store for my pvp alts.

Originally it was said that it was done this way to encourage people to have to log in every day. This was at a time when there were very few dailies. However the game has moved on since then and there are plenty of reason to log in, both in terms of dailies, and the daily reward system,

The riding skill levelling system needs looking at. Levelling 15 horses can make you spend 30+ mins per day just logging in and out of your different characters. That’s 90 hours, or just under 4 days of your life to level your horses in a game.

If ZOS feel like this 180 day mechanic should remain in the game, then they should at least make it take less time to do. Let us be able to level all our characters from the same stable screen. (This can easily be done in a way that doesn’t break immersion “I would like to arrange a horse riding lesson for (insert character name).”.)

Or alternatively, let us be able to level our characters via an app, that doesn’t need to take so long to log in/out of.

It's a completely standard pay to catch up mechanic. I worry about those of you who consider that "criminal".

I worry about those who are willing to accept the current system that is in place.

I agree with the others. The mechanic as it is currently is completely asinine.

Then let them take the riding lessons out of the Crown Store and everyone has to deal with it the same way we all have: by spending time and gold.

I don't know anyone who made 15 characters right off the bat. When they switched riding lessons to be per character and not per horse, I leveled all my characters to 180 over time. After that, it's pretty much just one character at a time, maybe two.

They could probably make it so that you can train riding twice a day to speed it up. But I'm fine once I get 30 speed. After that, it's icing on the cake.

What might need looking into is the problem some of us have with mount/dismount/harvest/mount cycles. There's no point in leveling the riding skills if you have to run so you can harvest without getting dropped to login screen. This is also why I'm not at this point spending crowns on any more cool mounts.

I didn't know that was a problem. Interesting.

I just run Coward's Gear and Darkstride on my farmer so I can run from node to node on foot forever.

*Waves* Nice to meet you. :)

It's a common piece of advice for new players, or in my case old players who are altaholics ( ;) ) - to create alts and start levelling horse riding skill and crafting research straight away.

If you are a PVPer, it's not icing on the cake, it can mean the difference between winning a battle or losing it; getting an AP tick or not getting it.

So whilst you might not have a problem with it (which is great, I'm glad it doesn't affect you :) ), as others clearly do, why shouldn't the system be improved? What advantage is there to it staying as it is? What advantage is there to making people log in on every character instead of just one?

It's been discussed a bit on the Tech Support forum. Some of the issue for me is satband redlag - but I'm by far from being the only one with the issue, and most everyone else seems to have "real" internet....

I'll have to look up Coward's Gear and Darkstride.... I'm so new I haven't a clue!

Its not the best speed set combo, but darkstride cuts the sprint cost by 50%, so I can sprint forever and still fight if I need to.
