Is the Dark elf extra flame damage significant?

I run a Mag NB with flame staffs and zaan set. Would changing from a Brent to Dunmer be worth it ? How much extra damage is 7% for flame damage of the dark elf

It's a dps increase for sure. Wether or not it's worth it is another question.

For dummy burns with zero sustain so you can get those crazy parses dark elf is the way to go. For extended fights high elf is just as good imo due to the added sustain (dark elves have to compensate for that so in the end dmg is very similar) .

Breton lacks the elemental dmg bonus that high elves have, with roughly the same sustain. It is clearly the weakest choice between all three races BUT the difference is minute. 2-3% most likely. If that's worth giving up those cute breton features to you, then go ahead and racechange.

Not really, even for flame damage skills you already have so many bonuses that it works out to much less. Typically at a minimum you’ll get about 32% from CPs, 8% from Minor Berserk, and 5% from Minor Slayer. This means you are going from 145% to 152% bonus, and 152/145=4.8% increase. You may also get more from Soul Harvest, Master Architect etc.

Many of your skills are not flame damage, like Soul Harvest, Veil, Funnel, Elemental Weapon, Path, Impale, and Assassins Will.

Breton also gets 3% cost reduction, which saves you nearly 100 Magicka every time you use a skill (about once per second, with the exception of Assassins will which is free).

So it definitely depends on your build. Dunmer benefits more if you are using Force Pulse, Elemental Rage, Wall of Elements, and Inferno staff light attacks. If you get most of your damage from these skills then it may be worth considering., but it won’t be a massive difference.

Edit: Also Breton spell resistance is usually better than Dark Elf flame resist because it applies to Shock, Frost, and Magic damage, as well as Fire.

Depends on how you want to play.

My main is a Dunmer Magicka Dragonknight who uses only Destruction Staff and Ardent Flame abilities, so I'm build purely towards fire in the first place.

If you're trying to get that 7% from just monster sets or something though I would say it's not the way to go. Only if you're trying to be a fire god. Specialization. I'm not very well versed in the NB skill lines, so I don't know if they have any innate fire attacks. If they didn't, I probably wouldn't choose Dunmer but Altmer instead.

Altmer is generally the better choice for mages imo, though some cases challenge that.

Yes it'll make your magdk and magsorc a little more gameplay friendly.. in all modes..

You definitely notice it, after trying a breton and orc magDK and deleting both..

If you only do PvE yes use Dunmer. If you only do PvP then use Breton. If you do both then Breton is probably better

It will make a diffrence but it’s not going to be huge, as a test, try slotting flawless dawnbreaker plus the passives on a stamina charecter an see if you notice the boost because its about the same, race is more important for leaderboards and so on where every little counts. My magic dk is a nord and she works a treat :)

For extended fights the dark elf passives are far superior. In your assumptions high elf is just as good the numbers are quite different. And dark elf comes out on top. 3% is huge.
