Non Meta tank specs, how are you liking the Wolfhunter DLC?

My PVE main for a few months now has been a khajiit nightblade tank. It’s been a fun challenge figuring out some of the harder content with this spec like Dragonbones hard modes and pug VDSA.

Wolfhunter on vet isn’t too bad but tanking the hard modes on a nightblade has been a nightmare.

I mean it’s pushed me to my limits and it’s been a real struggle. My group got our MHK hard mode clear in the first session but we had to replace dps a few times before settling into a solid strat.

Still working on March HM progression but the bleed bug is very hard to deal with without Magma Shell.

The hard modes in these dungeons specifically feel like they were designed with only a DK tanks toolkit in mind.

I’m finding some success on my non-meta spec but boy is it a fight.

Haven’t really tried MHK hm much so can’t speak to that.

Cleared MoS hm last night tanking with my altmer magden in some tank-ish gear (Thurvokun, cowards, armor master, 2pc endurance). So, seems off meta is fine in there. But yes, with the current bleed bug, you have to be careful and coordinate with your dps to make sure you don’t have the bleed on you as you go into a hunt phase. I’ve survived a handful of times with it on my warden, but more often than not it’s a death sentence without magma. Next clear of it I’m thinking I’ll use my argonian tankblade. I’ll try to remember to come back here to pass along feedback regarding the tankblade experience in there!

Personally been trying out Sorcs tank. Found bound aegis timing bit wierd but maybe that's just be. Otherwise been having fun on my 4th tank.

Pets on your sorc tank ? I played around with a PetSorc tank on the pts but it felt really clunky. Not enough bar space.

And ya I agree, bound aegis timing feels a bit weird, block casting it doesn’t feel quite right either.

Went into MoS hm with another group on my argonian tankblade, which uses a more traditional setup (earthgore ebon alkosh). I wasn’t really getting enough synergies, though, so I swapped to cowards. Also felt pretty good on it overall. I liked being able to pop that siphoning healing ult if I went into hunt with a bleed on for the major vitality. I think I went into hunt with a bleed 3-4 times but didn’t die to any of them thanks to that. Being able to time stop the wolves was decent but the skill was really useful for stranglers, since it meant I could cast it over them, run by, and even if I got caught the stun would free me. Major evasion and dark cloak are of course as wonderful as ever. For the few pulls I still had alkosh on and was using debilitate for speed, I could definitely feel the difference with the halved major expedition duration. It didn’t feel too bad on my sustain but I think that was more so due to me forgetting to recast it often as opposed to it being cheap enough to endlessly spam. Didn’t clear with that group yet; got to execute once but I think that was only the second time they’d seen it.

you can start kiting the boss before you push into darkness phases. they happen at 80 60 40 20 15.

Honestly i'm struggling to log in these days. Tanking on NB is not fun like it used to be and DK I find boringly easy - it's also not my main. Constant dreading of patches with things like removing the extra 30% damage redux from bolstering darkness do not help PVE NB tanks. (That was the NB magma shell, just not as good...)

Still needs work but 30k health the pet ft useless to me for 2 bar heal when there's vigor, surge, dark msgicka passive, dark deal. Though I did consider Sor health tank or shield using it and just use overload and trade ultimate for Magicka, but than had anidea with 2 hander.

As usual, these were definitely designed with certain classes and gearsets in mind, which is utter BS.

There should be zero content where major changes to setup should have to take place or significantly increased difficulty should be placed if not running a certain class.

A skill here or there, perhaps a piece with a different enchant is one thing. Full revamps across multiple characters should never be required, so long as the initial build is reasonable.

With these two, even more so than other dungeons, your group has got to listen. The bug just makes it even worse.

@Merlin13KAGL what would you say those classes/gearsets are? For MoS, the only setup that seems to me like it’s disadvantaged is magplar because it doesn’t have a strong source of major expedition (probably would end up resorting to speed pots or a cast time skill, although the magplar healer in my clear group didn’t end up using either). Again, haven’t really spent time in MHK yet, so maybe there are certain builds that’s highly restricted to.
