I’d say like 90% of my time is spent farming, every now and then I’ll do a normal pledge (most of my friends aren’t on much anymore so I usually just end up farming or killing random things in random zones)

I don't really farm mats anymore. once every couple of weeks I clear out whatever surveys I got from daily writs and that generally supplements more of my daily writs. if I run low even with surveys, I just buy more mats from guild stores. mostly things like silk, or metal bars. I tend to have surplice of herbs and tempers thanks to surveys and those material bags you get from completing crafting writs so I sell those.

The bad thing is, I don't sell mats. I have to farm that much to support my own crafting writ habit! If I buy mats from someone else I lose money instead of making it on daily writs, so I have to spend a lot of time gathering. I do resent it sometime, but I'm not gonna buy from someone who just spent a few hours making mats less available to me during casual adventuring, so I work harder and go to out of the way spots. That's just my choice, trying to save as much money as possible, if I cared less about trying to save up for things I would not have to farm.

I don't farm materials as a primary activity, I just farm nodes and loot every crate and barrel along the way while doing quests.
I did sometimes farm for jute when I started out doing the daily crafting writs, but now I have plenty of mats for crafting.

Same. Doesn't matter which girl I'm on, they all gather while they're questing or whatever.

I just pick up stuff as I stumble across it. I don't go out of my way to farm mats. But, being that I've been playing since Beta, I have collected more mats than I will ever use.

I don't really farm mats unless I have ESO+ running. Otherwise I just pick them up if I happen to come across them.

Do you expect me to start a stopwatch every time I get off my horse to gather a shiny that was along the way?

The only "gathering" I do is getting surveys. All my other mats come from not leaving anything behind when I'm moving about the map doing stuff.

Edit: Needed to add that with the new changes to the equipment crafting writs for lower level characters, I'll probably be closer to the 20-30% range here. Having to only craft one of each item now is a HUGE relief. This was a much needed QOL change that I wasn't expecting and I'm so happy to see. Farming low level mats when you're only getting 50% of what you need from nodes is not fun. This should help a lot!
