I main a magplar, but for the current meta I think stamplar is a lot more fun for small (say, 6 and under) groups.

Magplars are still great for healing and support, but if you are looking to be a kind of all-arounder/DPS character, stamplar feels a lot smoother right now, imo.

Both are in really tough spots. I’d say Magplar because stamplar is not easy to play whereas magplar is fairly noob friendly.

I've been playing pvp for quite awhile on stamblade and magdk already so I'd say more of an amateur than a noob

I prefer mag to stam on templars for pvp, but I tend to prefer magicka generally.

Ive hard switched my templar to stamina and like it, Still have a piece of my heart with magplar though. Might roll another one outside of how I know how that story ends. Still can be good but not if you run alone much. Lets be honest though. Not like stamplar has any way to escape alone when a group comes either though.

Stamplar if you’re a masochist. Magplar if you want to cast BoL until you run out of magic because you’re permanently stuck on the defense.

I have been having fun with both. It just depends on how I feel like playing at the moment. I love how tanky my magplar is and the support it provides, but I also love how powerful and smooth my Stamplar is.

Pffft, who uses BoL with its crappy secondary heal? HtD is the way to go. And using Total Dark flips the script on someone trying to pressure you, letting you go on the offensive. I love when idiots come at me with their ani cancel burst and wind up destroying themselves.

Stamplar is my favorite class in the game alongside Sorc. It has so much raw power, nothing goes 0-100 faster. But to get the most out of it, your build has to lean towards glass cannon and this makes the class much more challenging to play than most. The high damage and pressure comes at the cost of sustain and survivability. But it’s worth it for me. Solo and in duels the class is a bit more towards the middle tiers, but when it comes to open world small scale it is one of the best classes in the game imo....if played right. The class is a premier damage spec, that brings great group utility with focused power of the light bursts and purify synergies.

Magplar is a class that is less damage oriented, but the quintessential healing and support class alongside the warden. Magplars, when playing to their strengths, are less about killing and being the damage superstar and more about providing supplementary damage while keeping the team afloat. Any PvP group with more than 4 ppl is not playing at its potential without one magplar in group. A top tier group class, and more well rounded with more build variety than stamplar which is mostly about dealing damage. Magplar can be melee dps, ranged dps, tank, healer, support, etc.

So really comes down to which playstyle appeals to you more really.

I'm currently having a ton of fun in BGs with a stamplar running troll king, 5 medium shacklebreaker+5 night mother's gaze on front bar with twohander, and perfected asylum one hand and shield. 3 swift on jewellery for extra fun.

Asylum shield is pretty awesome, lets you counter the most annoying enemies (sorcs and gank nbs) and gives you a ton of magicka. It makes kiting enemies so mich easier since they'll try to range attack you and then simply get stunned by the reflected projectile. Against casters you never run out of magicka, which let's you cleanse dots constantly and reflect projectiles.

    Bar setup:

Shuffle, Biting Jabs, Javelin, Vigor, Rally, Dawnbreaker of Smiting

Ritual of retribution, defensive stance, blazing spear, restoring focus, repentance, crescent sweep.

Really good in small scale, hard to kill, deals nice damage (nmg is very underrated on classes that don't have access to fracture).

I haven't finished a single BG with a K/D ratio under 3 on this build.

I say BOL as a general name for either morphs... total dark doesn’t make up for the whole class being *** poor.
