    Spoiler
    - The stars are your current rank on the forums! Your rank increases each time someone likes agrees thinks your post is awesome or insightful! You lose points for being marked as spam abuse or as a troll!

    ✭ is below 50 points,
    ✭✭ is 50-99,
    ✭✭✭ is 100-499,
    ✭✭✭✭ is 500-999 and
    ✭✭✭✭✭ is 1000+!

I do know that total points goes up when someone accidentally clicks Like/Awesome/Insightful, but doesn't go back down if then un-click it.
for example I'm currently at 520 points, but 76 Insightful, 261 Agree, 63 Awesome (76+261+63=400)

i'm not able to un-click a feedback button. i'm usually on a tablet so maybe the interface is different than a PC browser's (it's definitely different from my phone's) but sometimes when scrolling i'll accidentally give feedback. if i notice, i then have to decide which of the 3 is most appropriate, as i can change the type of feedback (switch an awesome to an insightful) but i can't take it back.

in my case, i suspect the disparity is from having posts removed. i have 738 points, but my total of viewable feedback is only 611. i sometimes get into long discussions where i pretend that explaining my understanding of something will affect the position of someone who's clearly emotionally invested in their stance, which sounds ridiculous now that i say it out loud. then when the mods arrive at work in the morning it's determined that i've transgressed against the Code of Conduct and my discussion points are removed, but the forum points remain. i remember you from a few of those (you stand out to me as a good reader) so maybe that's part of the disparity?

You can definitely un-click on PC, iPad, and iPone, and Galaxies S6. I could easily see the disparity happening due to removed post as well. However I have not had 100 post removed, maybe as many as 20, and the listed devices are the ones I use. I most often accidentally like on my phone while scrolling. So that is also when I am un-liking too.

interesting! i'm on a Galaxy something-or-other as well. i read here on Chrome. do you use a different browser?

Well I already see two people that don't like the idea that they would have to give great consideration to weather a topic is worth discussing before it disappears.

It was meant more of a "hey take notice of what you are posting before you post it" thing but sure if you want to take my post as serious think about what currently happens:

Not all posts are like this but there is somewhere the idea is so ridiculous (like mine above) that it really shouldn't be acknowledged at all. However, some person just can't keep their mouth shut and the post is bumped back to the top of the pile because someone just had to comment on how stupid the idea was. Was the reply in support of the original idea? NO completely against it but instead of the thread dying a quick death like it should have now people are arguing for and against it and the entire time it is sitting at the top of the thread pile.

Give people a limit on the amount of things they can post and very quickly the ony ideas that survive are topics worth actual discussion.

Perhaps even increase the number of posts they can make reliant on their ability to make constructive points.

Problem with that is, this forum doesn't just exist for us to discuss. It also exists for the devs. They are also part of that audience and its very hard to tell what they do/dont pay attention to or what criteria they use for looking at forum ideas. That means that if someone sees a problem with an idea, its wise to speak up for that silent audience.

I'll give a fairly recentish example where someone suggested that the posting in the forums should be restricted to ESO+ members and that non-subscribers should be limited to Bug Reports and otherwise read-only. I personally think that suggestion falls under your category of so ridiculous it shouldn't be acknowledged. But because of the silent audience, its important to point out problems and disagreements even with ridiculous ideas. Lots of us did, and hopefully made it clear that the majority of commenters on the post disagreed with the idea and pointed out how it would not have the intended impact and there were better ways to accomplish it.

Its worth it to point out when people need to L2Play and change tactics instead of calling for nerfs.
Its worth it to point out that some suggestions about major gameplay changes are trying to kill a fly with a sledgehammer.
Its worth it to point out that suggestions about forum/game/class/skill changes don't always have the intended effects.
    That's all valid feedback.

That's far from the only examples. While its true that not all disagreement posts are more interested in pointing out problems rather than just disagreeing in no uncertain terms, it still serves as important purpose. Even ridiculous posts are worth a little discussion - long enough for everyone to point out whether they agree or disagree and talk about the impact it would have on the game. That discussion is valuable for both posters and the devs.

You idea, which you've acknowledged is ridiculous, wouldn't have the intended impact which was pointed out by another poster in a perfect example of valid feedback. Valid feedback, even if its just disagreement and criticisms, is necessary in a forum even for ridiculous posts.

I wish most people "myself included" could make such posts on a regular basis.

Honestly, I wish I could give it more awesome because it is a perfect example of how a post should be made. Informative, on point, and not a single insult in it.

And just so you know I was against the ESO+ only forums thing as well.

I don't know about that. I suppose if you're looking at it from a "must be productive to have a point" then yeah. But I think we all need a break from the drive to always be productive, always have a point to what we do and destress with entertainment. It's healthy (and fun!).

I get the whole it is all epeen arguement about forum stars. Just like the epeen arguement applies to some people in the game. But both entertain people and both have some value.

I get the most ridiculous mental images when I see folk start waving the 'peen about. :) Oh, I have none of that either. I really don't bother to measure against others.

I don't agree. Sure I make a lot of trashy posts but there are also times where I have a back and forth with someone on something and we can go on for several posts each discussing and debating it. If we're limiting how many times people can post then most threads would just be dead.

Also what happens when someone posts a great new bit of art or a video and I want to simply say "That's awesome!" I'd be less inclined to "waste" a post there then one in a debate about exploiting.

The forums are fine how they are, we don't need limits and if people are really just posting spam and never being constructive then we have mods which you can report them to.

Gotta grind that FP to get the stars...and as we've seen in this post there are people who look for exploits and short-cuts even to rank up in this.

Yeah, lets start the grind i am no exploiter I've always preferred hard-work, So

Guys and Grils, my stat after 24hours i receive the code:

    0 Devs / 0 Insightfull (...) / 0 Agree (ahah!) / 2 Awesome ( <3 )

Am I a future star-harvester (100% of awesome so far) or are those stats pretty low and I will end up just like in the game: a pretty useless son-of-a-Dragon?

I wasn't even trying and i got to 10 stars eventually. You just participate in threads and hope people agree with what you said, learned something from you, or found you funny.

But that doesn't mean just spam "gimme yo awesomes".

ahah yeah, but, i. I really don't like this soul shriven thingy, and, ii. I admit that the look of 10 stars is rather.. impressive. Socially speaking. One star would be enough for me though, I guess.

Anyway, ty guys for all your answers, I was rather expecting to be ignored by all so that's great! (It's like, I have 0 star right now and you cumulate 43 at you 6). It's a bit like when the queue bring a lvl 13 to my team in a random normal ahah
