Set Pairings w/ Elegance - Discussion

Been runnin Elegance, don't want to change it, anyone have good sets to pair with it defensively? What are you doing for 2 PC Monster? etc. etc.

I've considered going Vampire's Cloak + Pirate Skeleton + Elegance
I've also considered Pariah + Troll King + Elegance
or Vampires Cloak + Engine Guardian + Elegance

Right now I'm running Alteration Mastery + Elegance + Thurvokun - But I'm running Frost Staff Maelstrom on the backbar with Elegant Nirnhoned front bar -

Essentially when I'm not in Overload I'm spamming light attacks, controlling with roots / frost blockade / streak, only double shields -

Skill bar as such -

Elegant Nirnhoned - Degeneration (spammable) - Streak - EleDrain - Radiant Light - Hardened Ward
Frost Maelstrom - Restraining Prison - Ele Blockade - Harness Mag - Curse - Bound Armor
Overload - Crystal Blast - Wrath - Hardened Ward - Bound Armor - Radiant Light

It's effective for ganks - I thought Thurvokun would be nice to pair vs. basically any brawler type and it is effective but I feel like it could be better. Welcome to any suggestions.

If it's for ganks you don't really need defensive do you?

Spinners / Netches / Kena / Slimeclaw for the pew pew

I would say you could stick with a defensive monster set and run Necro with Elegance. The combo is going to boost your light attacks more than running an offensive monster set or a defensive 5 piece.

Or you could go full offensive and rely on shields for defense. Necro/Elegance/Kena would work really well for that. Or run two max magicka monster pieces for even more magicka.

Hey @Beardimus and @jaws343 - I've considered Elegance + Destruction Mastery - I don't want to go Necro because I don't want to have to worry about proc'ing a pet and using Ball.

I'm 100% convinced there is a way to fight a player open field with an Elegance Build based solely on light/heavy attacks.

I'm thinking that the Maelstrom staff just isn't realistic though, because I have to actually pin the person in that spot to be able to get off an OL LA and it just doesn't play well.

I have done Fire Reach + Elegance Combo - it works really well - Wrath + Light (40% LA) + Reach into Overload + OL LA, you can land the LA before they even start break free - so I'm thinking Jaws you might be right - I need to run for max damage - because it's double destro Fire/Frost It would look like this -

Blockade + Restraining (Frost Bar) - Swap to Fire Bar - Reach into OL combo - this way I actually hit them back into the blockade and still get the damage bonus from Maelstrom and have a back bar i can block on - Kena doesn't last long enough for OL builds - besides the old school ones that literally sit on the bar.

I could try Streak on the OL bar for a Wrath + Light (40% empower) + Streak + OL LA.

Maybe - Elegance + Destruction Mastery + Slimecraw - because I basically HAVE to kill them during the 1st reach knockback.

Hey @SneaK I'm not seeing any notes on a new Torug, is it changing? EDIT: Nevermind I see what you're saying - Moon Hunter if I'm running poisons - Torug's if I'm running weapon enchants.

Guys, explain why. I've considered Lich, but don't really care for it to much, why should I go with Lich? I don't think it's better than Alteration Mastery because I need to have some active defense component besides shield spam without a resto staff.

I mean, as a Sorc you benefit most from stacking max mag so it’s sorta strange to not suggest Necro with the pet heal especially since you wanna go double destro.

That said, permafrost and troll king might be another way to passively heal without a Resto staff. Maybe work meditate into the build too and drop some recovery for max mag or dmg.

Shackle does seem pretty nice with the max Stam + Max Mag bonus - especially if I go with Triune enchants and Tri Stat Food.

So does the suggestion of bringing in a Pet for added help with pressure.

I think you're right - Max Mag w/ Necro and Twilight Heal might be the compromise I'm looking for as double destro.

Really dislike pets open world - they bug out and if I see a sorc pet I target it first...

Has anyone tried shields then meditate for sustain?
Also, if you have enough stam (from shackle/amber/engine guardian) dark conversion will heal and sustain you...

If I go with Engine Guardian I can skip a pet and while it's up I'll have Necro -

Dark Conversion just isn't a realistic choice in open world unless you've got LOS on your side. If you get caught in open field you need to make some smart moves if you've got this on your bar.
