Channeled Focus: Why was the nerf renewed?

These are the patch notes from the latest update.


This ability and its morphs now apply Major Ward, Major Resolve, and all morph effects to you directly for 20 seconds at Rank IV.
Standing within the area of effect now increases the Major Ward and Major Resolve effects by 50%.
Channeled Focus (morph): Increased the cost of this ability to 1891 Magicka from 1080.


This is originally what happened to Rune Focus after PTS feedback was given.

Restoring Light

Rune Focus: Increased the duration of this ability and its morphs to 20 seconds from 18 seconds, and reverted the cost increase to this ability and its morphs.

The original plan, on PTS, was to keep the changes to how Rune Focus operates, but to reduce it's cost as this was adding functionality rather than changing the ability.

Why was this nerf re-instated? Thoughts?

    It's more than fine to increase the cost of Channeled focus to 1891 for what it does now.

    It gives you both major resistance buffs for 20 seconds on cast + 2 other buffs which can be refreshed and additionally grants more resistances when you are inside the rune.

    Could've been done without the cost increase but if we compare it to what other skills do and cost that grant the major resistance buffs channeled focus is in a great spot now.

    In the ends it's an acceptable nerf for the buffs the skill received even if that's a meme at this point for templar :trollface:

    no it's not with the increase in cost it's a nerf to sustain hence why they reverted the cost change. it no longer refreshes as before, it's now a flat 20 seconds and how many times are you actually standing in that tiny rune while fighting in pve or pvp...virtually never

    Are you sure about the renewing of the other buffs? For example the magicka return?

    If yes, i am fine with cost Increase. If not, then nice nerf.

    It really isn't.

    The change to the ability wasn't ment to change how the ability works, but to bring it in line with the other classes with an extra benefit that only worked under specific conditions. The feedback ZOS got on PTS was to revert the costs to live for the combination of magicka-regen lost.

    This is a senseless re-nerfing that feels more spitefull than anything else. Because unless the goal was to control how much magicka we get back there just wasn't a point.

    And to bring channeled focus on par they have to increase the cost aswell as all other skills have higher cost than channeled.

    I hate the bloody names for these skills, sometimes they just blur together.

    But wasn't the ability originally that anyway? Like wasn't that it's original cost? I dont remember the full blown armor cost being that -low-, something is weird here.

    I just logged in, looked at Channeled focus, (confirmed it is the magicka restoring morph, I did not get it wrong) and the cost has not changed. It is still 1080.

    ...Chalking it up to a typo in the patch notes. I almost had a heart attack for a second there.

    Is there a reason why Templar snare from Reflective Light is 3s as well? Most others seem to be 4s.

    EDIT: Actually a few have been changed to 3, not sure why some are 3 and some are 4.

    Thank you for checking and posting!! I saw this in the Live notes as well and was not happy... glad to hear it was just a mistake that was copied from original PTS notes to Live.
