Want to get undaunted passives but don't want to wait in queue for dungeons? Make a tank!

LoveForElderScrolls
I was a tank and made a new DPS character and I wondered how the hell am I going to get undaunted passives because 98 percent of the time I didn't have to wait in queue for dungeons as a tank and I really don't want to wait. Then I realized I can make a tank for my new class. Might be obvious for many but still posting it here. By the way, I never queued as a healer. What is the wait time for normal dungeons as a healer right now?

Tanks and Healers are faster / more in demand. And it's easier to spec to healer as a dps I think.

10 seconds to 4 minutes for me. Usually around 40 second.
Also you can level undaunted as dps too, just run some of dungeons solo (fun, challenge and quest lore as nice bonus).

....or make a healer. Ya. Probably better to be a healer if you're new actually. If the healer flails a bit it's a lot less damaging to the group than if the tank starts flailing around.

I use my tank to solo most normal I dungeons if that helps (if you just want passives). I hate the group tool too (some post fake and waste everyone's time) and will only group with guildies when opportunity arises, which is rarely b/c they're mostly trade guilds.

I can do healer for normal dungeons probably but I really became good at tanking and I did the most difficult veteran dungeons with cp 430 tank.

Not only are there fewer tanks/healers, but the good ones don't queue for things because of how bad pug dps can be. I'm not wanting to take 30-40 min to clear a 10 min dungon.

Gotta love tanks! I have my DK and Warden spec'd as tank. DK does all vet (he's better geared atm) and my warden does normal (for quick and easy runs that I dont need to pay attention to)

Exactly. I don't pug on my healer anymore because it feels like the average dps is getting worse and worse these past few weeks, to the point where groups of high CP people can't beat a normal dlc dungeon because they're all doing nothing but hardcasting crystal frags while standing in every aoe waiting for their magicka to come back, while the "tank"/"healer" just heavy attacks with a two-hander.

I find that playing a tank (with a taunt and enough health/stats to survive, block, interrupt, and more or less hold the boss still and CC the mobs) is easier than playing a healer. Whenever I play a healer, I seem to get fake tanks and inevitably I wind up with the boss aggro, so I might as well have played a tank to begin with.

You get points from 4-man dungeon related achieves.

Do the pledges first, then you can specific-dungeon-finder right down the line. Do them on Vet, HM if you can, with a full clear (including mini-side-bosses) and you'll get credit for the Vet and the norm version in one swoop.) You'll also collect a lot of skill points from quest clears in the process.

Some of them can take 10-15 minutes with a reasonable group, less with a lucky and very skilled one. You're also bound to get the occasional speed run or no death, which will add even more points.

Finish off all 4 man in an Alliance for even more points, yet.

Stick to the dungeons with smaller maps and less punishing bosses and you'll hit Undaunted 9 (which is high as you need for all passives) before you even have clears on everything on your list.

25 hours in game and maxed Undaunted by level 50 or shortly thereafter. It's how I do it for every new character I make.

(And for anyone with doubts, I've the timestamp screenshots to prove it, multiple times.)

Healer is definately harder role than tanking, but the amount of terrible tanks make it feel likes it's hard to spam puncture and not to tunnelvision like a horse

In my experience, a good tank makes it look easy. I find tanking to be a very active role, especially during mobs where I'm grouping and crowd controlling mobs for the DDs or positioning and interrupting the boss mechanics.

I don't run a healer for anything more complicated than random normal dungeons, so that may account for the difference I see, but my healers have a rotation of HOTs, buffs, and DPS, so everything else is being reactive and waiting for a party member to need rescue heals in between the rotation. It only gets difficult if I have a fake tank AND a super squishy party member. De-facto tanking the boss AND baby-sitting some low health DD or fake tank is not enjoyable for me. If I wanted to tank, I would have queued on my tank.

    No, you can't.

The only Rep you're going to get from delves is Dungeon Dealer/Healer/Blocker and eventually some named/unnamed enemies.

Majority of rep comes from 4 man achieves and trials.

That's specific to the daily, though.

Otherwise, delves will not count, even if you off the same boss B sends you to 100 times in a row. Enter the delve by itself, and you'll be limited to the 5 achievements listed above.

You're talking months, when you can run the normals instead, or in addition to, and gain it much faster.

This One's On Me achievement also gets you some undaunted points for buying people drinks in each zone.

Typically I would spec any Stam DPS as a Tank until I got my undaunted leveled. Mag DPS I would spec as Healer.

If by rarely, you mean never, you're correct.

You can be Mag and still tank if set up properly. Stam while still healing, however, is more of a Stamden only niche thing.

On any build, you can definitely spec into one or the other, at the cost of only a few additional skillpoints (which you can later recover, if you choose.) if you're just leveling Undaunted, there are several decent drop sets for either role that will get you by, too.

FYI you get 10 Undaunted reputation for each of the delve dailies, and if you can get them shared you can do as many as 15 of them in a single day. This is one of the best reasons to have a second account - so you can have characters sitting on each of the delve dailies (same goes for other dailies) and share them with the character on your main account so you can do all of them in a day.

It takes a total of 1300 Undaunted reputation to hit rank 9, so if you did nothing but the delve dailies (which isn't really possible because at a minimum you'll get a couple of achievements in the process that will also give you Undaunted reputation) it would take you 9 days to get to rank 9.

Is it the best way to level Undaunted? No. The best would be to do pledges & get achievements as well as doing delve dailies. Is it viable? Yes.

Technically, Rube Golberg machines are viable too.

Yes, you could go through an absurdly complex setup to make this work, if you're really that inclined to avoid the actual main content.

In either case, there are plenty of ways to get there. I suppose that's the important takeaway.

Just to test it for some alts I leveled Undaunted solely through 1 undaunted daily per day while doing writs or getting hirelings or whatnot and entirely leveled Undaunted that way for 5 of them, without doing a dungeon let alone a pledge.

When you have lots of alts sometimes you dream up things to do with them. For instance, two of mine just sit next to that crow in CC when they're not getting alchy mats from the Shadowy Supplier in the TG haven nearby. Each day they hand in the stuff the crow wants for jewelry to decon or motifs. 5 of my characters learned that entire motif from those 2 characters' dailies. They already have their ornate armor, ectoplasm and stolen grooming items and such available to turn in each day, depending on what the weird crow wants.

Similar with alts. While leveling them they did their Undaunted Fighters and Mages dailies unless I wanted to take a particular one out for a spin through content or the like.

Have One On Me achievement also grants Undaunted xp.
