Current Sorc-Pet Build ... open to suggestions (please)

I want to preface this with a few caveats.

1. I'm 70 and suffer from a somewhat advanced neurological disorder.
2. It's quite likely I'm the worst ESO player of all time.
3. I don't do group dungeons; period. My hands shake too much whenever I try.
4. I do quests, gather materials, dolmens, explore, and grind delves.
5. PvP is beyond my capability or desire.
6. I've been playing for two months total.

The game would be virtually unplayable for me except for various macros I've setup on my Razer Naga mouse. To that extent, I have a macro that weaves and cancels animations. At my current CP 345 my DPS is a fairly consistent 25K, sometimes higher against delve bosses.

My rotation is:

Shock Reach > LA > Force Pulse > LA > Mage's Wrath > HA (all front bar)

Blockade of Storms and Liquid Lightning are on my rear bar, but LL is difficult for me to use effectively. Critical Surge is also on my back bar. My ultimate is Shooting Star.

Front and back bars share Mage's Light and Clannfear

My character is a Magicka Pet Sorc and I keep Surge up most of the time. I've tried all three Sorc pets, but for what I do in game the Clannfear works best for me.

For gear, I have 5 x Necropotence and 5 x Julianos, all gold except Jewelry, which is purple. Shoulders are gold Chokethorn (Medium). Heavy Julianos chest. My Julianos staffs are Lightening/Shock/Nernhoned (front) and Lightening/Fire/Nernhoned (back).

My go-to food is Longfin Pasty with Melon Sauce.

CP-wise, I followed Deltia's recommendation to 300 and have since put everything into Arcanist, Spell Erosion, and Ironclad.

Mundus Stone: The Mage

At present, these are my stats (with food buff):

Max Magicka: 47.2K
Max Health: 17.8K
Spell Dmg: 1944
Weapon Dmg: 1627 (1903 with Surge up)
Spell Crit: 49.6%
Weapon Crit: 23.4%

I am generally pleased with this build and my rotation. For the things I do in game, I demolish everything. That said, I'm always looking to improve; so, if anyone can recommend a favorable change, I'd be most grateful.

Thank you in advance.

I'm not sure I'd call your build a Pet Sorc build despite the fact you do use one pet. :)

The defining characteristics of a pet sorc build and where most of the damage comes from is the morph of the familiar you don't use. It's the activated pulse damage from the volatile familiar, boosted by Daedric Prey that does most of the damage.

It's actually one of the most laid-back builds in the game that doesn't even need animation cancelling or weaving since you'll be doing lightning staff heavy attacks a lot of the time.

Basically you want to use Surge, lay down you Blockade and Liquid lightning AOEs. activate the familiar's pulse, cast Daedric Prey for the damage boost to pets and heavy attack lightning channel until you need to refresh your rotation. Also, when using Daedric Prey, one of your ultimates should be the Atronach since it also buffs its damage

If you don't think your surge heals are enough and want to have an active heal available you could use 2 pets, the second being the Twilight Matriarch which will also be contributing some damage whether you use its heal in a fight or not.

I have a pile of alts @ CP850 - stamina and magicka versions of each class and my pet sorc is by far the easiest and most relaxed one to play.

BTW, you only have a year and a bit on me. I'll be 69 in October :)

You can use Maw of the Infernal monster set as well, as Daedric Prey will boost the damage of the Daedroth summoned.

Hello, Iselin; thank you for responding (and correcting me)!

When I first started I tried running with two pets, but quickly found my macro rotation is much easier on me than trying to lay down consistent AOE skills. For my style and capabilities this works better for me. One problem I have is holding buttons down, even for 2 seconds; so, doing lots of heavy attacks is an issue.

What I'm really looking for is recommendations on a more suitable Mundus Stone and how to get my spell and weapon damage higher.

Again, thank you very much for responding.

I actually wondered about your ability to hold down the button for the heavy attacks (not knowing your exact limitations) as I wrote my post.

What I wrote is the standard pet sorc build and rotation(minus some light attack weaving which will do extra damage but not really needed unless you're doing harder group content) but the important bit is empowering the pet attacks with daedric prey. Simply swapping Shock Reach for Daedric Prey would be an improvement without changing anything else.

Also... I don't know much about the Naga's macro commands since I use a different brand MMO mouse but most of them feature delay commands between LMB press down and release... at least mine does. You could do a heavy attack macro and assign it to one of you buttons... just a thought.

As to your gear, Mundus, etc. It seems fine except most min/maxers would recommend using Infused staves rather than Nirn these days for slightly more damage.

It’s ok to balance between max resource and power these days. I’d roll the apprentice Mundus if you want more actual spell power. Max Magicka is your baby though. Shields and pet damage should be scaling off of that iirc. There is a ton of content you can clear with what you have

As a macro user, have you Ever been able to cast 5 spells at once?

Edit: I already know the answer, but wanna kill this once and for all

I'm aware of the longstanding 'discussion' PvP'ers have had concerning macros. You'll notice, upon closer inspection, that I do not do PvP. I don't do anything competitive in the game. I don't even duel. Ever.

Fact is, I haven't the capability to do 2 spells at once, some not at all. But thank you for participating.

    Thank you for indulging me.

And to your post. 25k dps is better than 90% of the PuGs I do vet dungeons with. I don't know exactly you're looking for, there's no real improvement to be made, especially if you're not gonna do group content

    Hi!
I understand, why you prefer clanfear: it's "tank"morph, so most of the mobs try to kill the creature, not you)

But just give a try the other morph, scamp. Because of the pet-sorc has the simplest rotation ever. But you have to use the class shield constantly and heal ability (either healing morph of winged twilight or surge; i'd advise surge). Because now you are the tank and your pet is dd) Actually, it's "Summoner" build by alcasthq with self healing abilities, for solo-playing.

And I'd advise you to use withch mothers' potent brew instead that food for tanks: it'll give you more mana recovery.

Also, Lover Mundus is little bit useful than Mage for solo-playing, but the difference is not so big. Actually, you may install that addon and look at your penetration. If it's near 8k or higher, it's ok and you don't need Lover.

P.S. Don't be so shy with group activities, just go to one of the beginner dungeons, and you will see, that it much more simple, than you think)

howdy mate, just a thought here, have you tried to use controller? like Xbox or PS one (tried both, prefer Xbox). i tried it and even though it was... different at first i could not play without a controller now. it's way easier and the controller button setup helps a lot if you have problems using a keyboard and mouse, the only disadvantage i found is that you can somewhat more reliably LA weave with keyboard/mouse. overall it's easier to use controller. give it a try..
