From this passage:
When our ancestors settled Summerset, our culture began to change. We no longer worshiped the ancestor spirits, instead elevating a few of those spirits to godhood and revering them. A group of elders at this time rebelled against this trend. They called themselves Psijics, the keepers of the Old Ways. They retreated to Artaeum to remove themselves from the corruption of Altmer society. This dislike of the new ways didn't stop them from returning to offer advice and guidance, however.
Did the Psijics rebel against only elevating a few of the ancestor spirits and not all?

✭✭They did not accept that they should worship just a few ansestors and not all
Ironically this led them to become more isolationist rather than less, in time this provided fertile soil for looking upon others as imperfect and hence their tendency to lecture others on their failures while at the same time ignoring their own0 -

the original Ancestor spirits then would have been all of the Et'ada? - all of whom are now known as Aedra and Daedra?

Also worth noting that the followers of Veloth specifically venerated the Daedra (setting aside three they held as "good" (Azura, Boethia, and Mephala), with four that the specifically identified as evil (Molag Bal, Mehrunes Dagon, Sheogorath, and Malacath.) ✭The Psijics wanted an ancestor worship system. Venerating all good people that passed away and exalting them during life sp they have power after death and belittling the evil people during their lives to minimise the impact they have during the afterlife.

Not quite. The Altmer believe the aedra are literally their ancestors. This definition doesn't include the daedra. The terms roughly translate to "our ancestors" and "not our ancestors".No one is saying there aren't multiple interpretations of the lore, and we're not arguing that ESO did it "wrong".
We're arguing that they decided to go for the most boring, mundane, seen-before interpretation possible. Like they almost always do, unless they can ride on the coat-tails of past games.1
