Ability levels after Morphing

I've had some abilities get to level 4 and then I've spent the skill point to choose one of the two morphs. After morphing the skill however, the ability is still gaining experience, albeit at a much slower rate. Does leveling the morphed ability grant any bonuses or benefits?

cjmarsh725b14_ESO✭✭✭✭I didn't notice my abilities increasing as they leveled up, only as my character level went up. I was under the impression that leveling to 4 was only to unlock the morph.0
