What monster sets do healers use?

For reference, my healer is a DK healer, and this is for 4 man vet content only. I know healers used to not use monstersets but I know that has changed with the Summerset patch. I play my healer a lot and I’ve been wondering this. I tested out Bogdans but it didn’t really proc enough to be useful. I’ve also used Earthgore but I almost never really need it. So what monster sets do you healers use?

    Troll King
Not useful with vampires, but this is their problems
There is literally no any other good Monster sets for healers.

Other option: wear parts from different monster sets with needed parameters, like + healing done, + max mag, + mag recovery etc

If you play in PvP group of 12+ players earthgore is pretty much requirement.
If you play a HoT build on, for example, warden, Trollking is superb.
In small scale environment healers can go with bloodspawn as well, making their ulti gain faster and hence having healing ultimates pretty much on demand.

I’ve converted over to Earthgore on my nightblade healer while my Templar runs Sentinel of Rkugamz (sp?). While the healing proc is minor, the main benefit is the added stam restored. I’ve never experienced many issues with the pet dying because I’m pretty decent with my HoTs, and even though the size of the AoE is minor, the DPS are usually grouped together or it will hit the tank.

While as a healer, you shouldn’t be taking much damage, but sometimes it’s unavoidable, (especially as any slippery minor ads will focus you), so if your tank isn’t wearing Lord Warden, that could be a useful set.

I’ve tried Chokethorn, Sentinel, and Earthgore.

I found Chokethorn effective when I was first learning to heal, it often saved the player who had run far outside my heals without me noticing. It was a good crutch for a noob healer, especially running with other inexperienced players.

I like to see Sentinel when I am on my stam toons for the resource return, but I find many players fail to take advantage of the proc when I am running the set on my healer.

Earthgore is by far the most desired by the groups I’ve run with, and I have seen it pull us through disasterous situations.

I guess the best choice depends more on who you are healing and how smart they can be about taking advantage of your set.

For most vet dungeons, I just use Ilambris. For tougher DLC vet dungeons, I throw on Sentinel (if the DDs are stam-based) or Troll King.

You should join us in healer's Discord https://discord.gg/TfjSbu9

Eathgore is popular for uncertain situations.

    Bodgan for coordinated situations

    Chothken for new healers

    Siental for some trial situations.

Bloodspwan, Iord Warden - people like buffs they provide even on healers

Troll King has some issues, but no nicer in pvp

Shadow clanfear set, throkvun - for pvp uses

Some healer just stack stats or only use 1 piece.

In four man stuff, Bogdans or sentinel of rkugams. They will proc of cool down, earthgore is a waste, it will only proc like once or twice in a boss fight in four man stuff.

True on proc rates, but Earthgore is likely saving a life every time it procs. Bogdans and Sentinal don’t always go where they are needed, and usually just overheal.

Bodgans procs around 8-10 times in the same time. You act like Bogdans does not proc at the same time earthgore does. They heal around the same amount when they do proc now, so there is no reason to not have the one that does the more healing because it does proc all the time.

Sentinel of rkugams is not about the healing, it the Stam return, which is an average of 300 regen in most the boss fights I have seen. That is a lot.

I just mean that Bogdans usually procs wherever your springs are, on people that don’t need more healing. Earthgore will save the guy that ran away to do mechanics (or a less good reason) because it is a smart heal that only activates on low-health.

If you’re looking to restore stamina the Master Resto can provide the equivalent of over 500 stamina regen during heavy healing springs moments (like block casting during Warrior’s Starfall or Foundation Stone Atronach throwing rocks).

Edit: To be clear there are fights where Bogdan is great, like Rakkhat HM. I just wouldn’t call it better than Earthgore in all situations, and I feel like Bogdans scales better in 12 man content.

    I run Earthgore.

I realize some people find it less useful but I feel much more confident in my ability to save a potential bad situation running it.

Redundant most of the time since tanks got Heroic Slash but still, helps do some damage and the 1 pc is helpful so why not?

Master Resto is base 258 stamina first tick of each cast of healing springs. You can stack 3 casts on a target so the player will get 258 x 3 stamina from the first tick of healing springs.

I only wear a monster helm in pvp.

Troll King has been working great for me in PVE, PVP, group heals, self-heals. It's an all-around useful in every situation set.

Cool down on Earthgore makes it too inconsistent for me.

Troll King appeals to me a lot, but I feel like I am not maximizing its potential since there are so many vampires (self included). I usually run Bogdan, Valkyn, or Ilambris since I don't have Earthgore yet, but I have also come to really like Iceheart because it's a nice safety net with a frequent proc and is satisfying for big trash pulls too.

For 4-man PVE I use Earthgore, or no monster set.

All of the healer monster sets are somewhat underwhelming in general for PVE. Effects radii are too limited, sets proc at too high of health and not often enough, or effect goes to the wrong players.

For PVP, most of the sets are situationally useful.

For PVE, I tend to use Earthgore, but it is mainly useful for healing an unnoticed dps standing in red for too long or when the healer makes a mistake. 99% of the time that Earthgore procs, the target was going to be healed up anyways. I suspect that I use Earthgore just because raining blood is pretty (although in PUGs many of the players don't know what it is and move out of it.)

For PVP each set can be strong in different situations.

Right, it is 258 per cast. Springs can be cast once per second, so 258 Stam/s. This is equivalent to 516 stamina regen because regen ticks every 2s. And it’s actually better than regen because it works while blocking.

I use Mighty Chudan when I'm Healing...

It saves me from having to slot and maintain Rune which allows me to devote my full attention to Healing and providing Shards regularly...

I have found that the Healing provided by the 'Healer' Monster Sets is overkill; my Healing (56% Spell Crit) combined with using with me regularly providing my group with damage shields has allowed me to easily complete all 4 man Vet content...

Word to the wise, most of us healers quickly max out our bag space because we end up carrying so much extra gear around. I usually carry 4 monster sets (Earthgore, Troll King, Lord Warden, Engine Guardian) as well as about 3 different light 5-piece sets and 1 heavy, so I can easily swap between PvP and PvE, or swap out to a set like SPC in PvP when another healer in my group is running Transmute. We also lug around a bunch of different potions and poisons to swap for each occasion. Get yourself one of each of the monster sets listed above (previous posters have given some really awesome advice), and be prepared to lug it around everywhere. Healers are, by nature, total pack mules.
