Now the $4000 question.....Magblade or Stamblade? pve...and yea, im stuck on which damnit.

Title says it all....I am stuck on whether to stick with Magblade or Stamblade. From the responses I have gotten BOTH kick butt...so, what makes one out shine the other? Seen Gilliam's vids and all but no really clear answer there either. I ask mostly due to my lag issue...constant 380 lat....and worry that it will affect me getting out of the bad as a stam class and it already affects bar swaps (keeps swapping back).
And true, it really does just come down to personal preference but they are both fun as hell, thus my dilemma. I'm aware magblade are the beasts of endgame and all that but that's not me, casual and all that is my speed. Just hate to invest the time into a toon only to struggle later on in dungeons and such. So just curious if any others have same issue and if so how have they managed them...or just said f it and played on. Cheers!

At this point just choose the one you will enjoy better. Would you rather be stam based or mag based?

Reckon I am going to stick it out with stamblade...I have a MagDK and a Sorc so think my best bet is sticking it out til 50 and see how I go. Leveling kinda sucks since you want all the skills now but that's fine, it will give me time to learn the class.

Stamblade means you need to be melee which sounds hard to pull off with your latency.

Personally I would go with Dunmer magblade.

Depends on your play style I suppose ... and whether you will primarily play solo or in a group.

Lag is lag and it makes gameplay difficult whether you play as a magblade or a stamblade.

I tend to do most solo, open world and quests and junk. will be doing dungeons and such and yea, even as magblade I have had issues with lag...bar swaps mostly.

I’m not a vet, having started with morrowind. I tend to dig Magicka toons so I rolled a magsorc for a long while. Started a magblade with the new level up rewards program and haven’t looked back. If you choose magblade, you will not be disappointed. The rotation isn’t easy but really it’s not impossible. Good ranged dps, really good dps tbh. It’s insane

Stam sorc, easy rotation (8 skills instead of 10) best aoe dps which is great for trash, easy survivability with passive healing via crits. It is arguably the best class for solo and 4 man content.

For nightblade, magblade if you have high latency.

I have wrestled a bit with the same question. My youngest char is my first NB. She's already respecc'ed a couple times between mag and stam. Currently stam. I tell myself I can either start another one as a magblade or simply respec to mag later on. My first char began life as a stamsorc, then converted to magsorc and loves it. I also started a new sorc as a stam sorc and love that one too.

I guess my point is that it is not an irrevocable decision since you can respec or start an additional with that runs on the other fuel. Lol.

My nightblade started as a stamina based sap tank, then to a DPS, then to a magicka sap tank, then destro/resto dps, and now he is finally melee magicka. So, you could really start with either. I think the biggest question you need ot ask yourself is when you want to be proficient with melee combat? Because, if I remember correctly, my magblade was fairly terrible with melee combat until I was stacking champion points, and had gold gear. Granted, this was around launch on consoles so...

I love my stamblade. I cant stand the poor sustain of magicka characters. My stamblade can easily just get out of the way of incoming attacks. No need to rely on a mag shield.

You can potentially do great damage with both class specs: stamblades hit harder, but magblades have greater survivability, and are overall much easier for solo play. Also, if you are going to be interested in end-game content at some point, then the new mini-trials are more suited to magicka classes, though this is probably going to shift the more familiar groups become with them. It really does come down to personal preference, the only downside I can think of is that in my experience (I also play with high ping, though not as high as yours) is that magicka skills are better behaved with lag than stamina skills, especially endless hail and caltrops. Maybe that's just my experience though--whatever spec you choose, I think they are both really strong, with fun playstyles.

Stamblades are powerful in pvp. However, their ultimate incap is being nerfed next patch.

Mag blade allows you to be invisible a lot longer.

I’ve played both stam and mag NB extensively since launch. As others have said, It’s really a matter of playstyle preference. Personally I enjoy stamblade in pvp as I find it more versatile (mix of melee and range) and is an overall more difficult and less forgiving play-style which I find more fun. You’ll see a lot of stamblades, but not a ton of great ones. Same scenario supplies to mag blade I suppose but magblade is probably one of the easiest classes to be efficient in PVP.

They are the same class, but the two are apples and oranges. Dont think of it as magic and stamina. Think of it as range and melee. The best ranged class is a mageblade, and the best melee class is a stamblade. There is not a wrong answer here as both are kings of their particular hill.

As is typically true, a ranged character is going to pull a bit less DPS, but usually that comes with an easier time surviving. A melee class is going to pull more DPS, but it is higher risk. Both are at the apex of rotation difficulty as well.

Most trial progression groups start with 7-8 ranged characters and work towards a more even mix as they master the content. As a lot of people want to be top DPS in their raid, competition is generally a little more fierce for the melee spots if that concerns you. Mageblades will also have an easier time with solo content, and can effectively replace a healer in 4 man content. They are certainly more versatile than stam, but if DPS is all you care about, stam for the win.

The best answer, make both.

I really hate to say this, but it depends on the race of the character.

My very first character is a Nightblade. And, a Breton. At first he was a hybrid and all was good. Come 1.6 I took him Stamina. Could never make him work, he was always weak and squishy.
People kept saying it was because I did not have Vigor that did not help.

I parked him for a while and for lulz, rolled a Khajiit Stamblade, I like crits. Night and Day difference. I then made my Breton a Magblade. Another Night and Day difference. So, now I have 2 Blades that are fun to play.

Why not both? I play both regularly in PvE as well as my stamplar. If whatever reason you can/want to only play one, you're the only one who can decide which is best for you.

Make both. If you are drawn more to one after a couple months, spend some extra time on it.
