Now that the Midyear Mayhem is over...

....I know I mostly moan but I would honestly like to thank ZOS and their team for a superb, fun event.

First, it was especially pleasing that they had paid attention to the players' complaints about performance from the previous year - this year performance was MUCH improved (assuming you don't run a bumbaclaart ghetto rig and connection). A couple of things to mention:
  • The queue to get into Cyrodiil is still too large during the event. 241 was the worst I encountered, although it went down fairly quickly (oo-er). If it isn't already, how about increasing the 'flow' to 3-6 players entering Cyrodiil at a time?
  • I noticed a few momentary loading screens after taking an OUTPOST. Nothing to worry about as they were only 2-3 seconds long.
  • Once the 'Rewards For the Worthy' had reverted to normal, it became apparent how rubbish these actually are. The Pelenial good bag made it feel much more substantial - maybe we can get something similar full-time? Just a suggestion. ;)

Last but not least, it was pleasing to see almost no cross-faction (PvP/PvE) baiting or hatred, although some of the zerg sizes were CRAZY due to the increased population. How about drastically reducing durations of buffs (food, spells, others) and damage while in groups of 5/6/7/8 and upwards?

Thanks again for the event and I can't wait until next years - can we have more PvP events like this, please?

Cheers, Bara :)

I had a damn blast OP. Played shor and kastav the whole time, I never got a que nor did I get any lag. Made over 5 mil AP and Also put out 2 pvp videos because of all the great clips I got.

Excellent! I have hours of footage to go through, but dread even starting as it's going to take a LONG time to edit haha

Heard a lot about performance problems, but if people try to go into a campaign with 200+ more queue and then are surprised it's laggy in there it's their own fault. If I ended up in a campaign that was laggy I simply switched to one with less pop or played battlegrounds.

Overall the event was really fun and it was nice to see more people in PvP.

Exemplary usage of bumbaclaart ! And yes totally agree the event was a good laugh this year, would love a PvP event maybe every 6 months!

Really enjoyed BG's this whole time and finally leveled a NB to 50. I have to be honest, under 50 BG's are much more fun because there are no premades, once I hit 50 it all came back at what a crap show BG's can really be.

This event was very profitable also. While the anniversary event was very profitable when it comes to knowledge (outfit styles) and materials, this event was quite profitable gold wise.

I have written down all the gold, tel var and item gains from the rewards of the worthy and event boxes that I have made thanks to the AP scroll. Gold, Tel var and random Hakeijo drops combined resulted in a gold gain of roughly 780k for me, alchemy ingredient drops not even included. Considering I did the same as I always do, that's a considerable gain for doing nothing special but just playing.

I wouldn't mind a small bit of tel-var to drop in the rewards for the worthy.
It was a nice little supplement to what I already had, and made getting those boxes worth getting.
I fully agree, outside of the transmutation crystals, RotW need something more than the gear. Let's face it, if you're in Cyrodiil already, you don't need the gear drops because you already have your build, and aside from a few sets, they don't sell very well and are basically vendor trash.
Rewards of the Worthy don't feel very worthy.
At least increase the gold reward...let PvP'ers actually earn a living by doing PvP.

This is the reason premades should have separate queues. I don't care if I'll have to wait longer for the match, I want to enjoy it when started. Right now I only queue for BGs with TSed premades, tried random once, untill it was against other randoms it was pretty fun, but premades with dedicated healers, tanks and runners are impossible to beat even with best randoms.
I'm done with this game because of ZOS pushing us into Vengeance, because they don't know how to fix Cyrodiil.

Exactly. I'd be more happy of alchemy satchels + random recall stone + gold.

I had no problem with the zerg sizes or organized groups running during Midyear Mayhem.

That's what Cyrodiil is supposed to have! Its a large zone for large scale combat! Yeah, sure, its got room for small scale and solo players, but the whole map design and objective play favors large, organized groups.

I just find it sad that the persistent performance issues have diminished the PVP population enough that Midyear Mayhem's high population is a highlight on the year and not a regular occurrence.

i saw a conversation in zone said the following:

(player 1) "i cant wait till this stupid event is over so we can return to normal pvp"

(player 2) "DONT WORY, WE HATE YOU TO!"

that type of communication dominated the past 2 weeks and i hated the ques, i hated that lagg and i hated the whole experience, i hope it never happens again.

That's kinda sad. I love seeing all the new faces and new players joining in. I really enjoy watching them learn how fun PVP can be. Maybe they have fun and stick around in PVP. Maybe they have fun and don't stick around. Maybe they hate the whole experience or decide it was meh, just not for them. Anyway they work out, they learn something about PVP - and that's pretty important in a game that balances PVP and PVE together.

I understand that it can be a pain when you can't play in your home campaign because of the high queues. But honestly? I'm willing to take leaving my home campaign PC/NA Vivec to go to Shor for the duration in return for the benefit having a whole bunch of players excited to try out PVP.

You'll never get rid of those queues. That is completely on the players. ZOS added servers in an attempt to draw players away from the bigger more popular servers. But when youre jumping into a server, it doesnt matter what your experience level with pvp is, you will want to jump in with the larger groups in hopes of getting to that achievement faster. No one wants to jump into a server that seems to have no pop according to the meter. That means all the achievements revolving around the event will take twice as long if not longer to achieve.

The simplest solution for players that were in that 200 long queue would have been to fill up another server. There were enough of you and if everyone in the queues in the other factions had done the same youd have had more than enough people for the event/achievement same as the big popular servers.

im not asking for the "players" to join another server.
no, im asking Zenimax to Force new people into new servers, and allow the existing campaigns to stay as they are and locked. only allowing those who allready are in those campaigns to be allowed in their campaign.

Its entirely possible that some of those players in the 200 queue were playing in the other campaigns while waiting for the queue to pop. On the rare occasions that I wanted to get into PC/NA to play with guildies, I would play in non-poplocked Shor while waiting for my 100+ queue to pop.

But I agree that anyone newer to PVP or wanting the achievements is better off in the more populated servers, and I'm alright with waiting in queue when they all come to the bigger campaigns. I'd rather that they have a good time in PVP than jealously try to guard "my spot" in the campaign.
