Confused about my playstyle and a few questions.

I have made toons with all 5 classes. I can see the fun in them. Maybe because I forget easily and not as fast I get my play styles confused. Before I wanted a mage so I played on and off for 4 years. Now I am playing constantly so I changed to a nightblade and then the other classes. Now I am playing dragonknight.

Thing is when I play mage, I want to play like a nightblade/dragonknight. When I play those classes I play like a mage. I don't really want to make a new character but restartitis is setting in again lol. So I am wondering what race and class to play. So I want to see the suggestions here. Maybe the suggestions I see I can use with my current toons, maybe I am just playing it wrong.

I like to be a bit more in your face. When playing a mage I was shooting from afar. So now I want to use swords. I tried dual wielding and sword and board and both are fun at low characters. I don't know what they all offer later on. I like to shoot from afar and then close in with swords. I am playing a Dragonknight Orc since I read they can run that fastest. I play PvE so PvP doesn't matter right now for me. I don't know if I should stick with him or do something else. If I should keep with him, what should I be looking for? I like to cast magic spells from afar or up close but like to use swords as well. If I should start a new toon, what race should it be and what class and why?

So I am not making a new thread, I have a few questions.

1)When on a mount and sprinting, what is the purpose of stamina? I just noticed that my running speed is 13f/s and when the stamina is gone the speed is the same. I know when I run I slow down when the stamina is gone. Since that doesn't happen when on a mount what is the purpose of stamina then?

2)Not playing an Altmer or magika race how can I get my Orcs, Khajit and Argonians faster magika regeneration? I am using a staff and heavy attacking but then I am not using swords or what not. Do I put runes on my armour or weapons to get the magika regeneration faster? I tried potions but that only works every 45 seconds, I tried food/drinks but never notice if it's working or not. So at a loss right now to do it. I don't want to be a dragonknight Altmer just to get regeneration.

sound like you want to play a red mage(look up final fantasy), which doesn't exist in TES.

My boyfriend was the same, he mostly played elder scrolls games as a sword using mage. And tried to play that play style in ESO and wasn't enjoying it, he tried playing an assassin type but didn't like the stealth. He settled on an altmer sorc mage which he has a single target hotbar with flame staff, and an aoe hotbar with lighting staff. He mostly uses the conjure tree as he enjoys pet classes.

my best suggestion is mage a fire mage using fire staff, and fire based spells from dragon night.

I play as an ice warden mage tank (ice staff taunt is more my thing I tried sword/board taunt it felt clunky to me) and my race is khajiit.

for magic regain there are food/drink types that do increase magic regain.

what id suggest is personally is make 1 character and stick to 1 character, till you get better.

also for the mount thing, mount sprint isn't the same as character sprint.

This isn't playstyle you are asking about. Playstyle is more about finding out how you enjoy playing rather than what you enjoy playing.

Do you enjoy risky high damage?
Do you enjoy feeling safe and outlasting the enemy?
Do you like AoE working everything down at once or focusing on a single target faster taking that one down?
Do you like preparing ahead of time and lots of buffs or do you like just being able to run in and react as needed?

All the rest are personal preferences as far as looks.

First of all you need to establish what kind of content are you interested in. Overland questing and a bit of roleplay? Casual normal dungeons and trials with your friends on the weekend? Veteran content but with no pressure? Vet DLC dungeons for achievements? Vet trials for fun and goofing around? vMoL progression group? vAS+2 and vCR+3 runs? Leaderboards, "I'm the next Hodor", speedrun/no-death/HM runs?

After you establish where you are willing to stop and be happy with the difficulty you are going to experience we can talk about builds. You have to make a consicious decision that every next step in difficulty cuts your build variety in half. It will be idiotic to tell you to reroll to a siroria/architect magblade with dynamic rotation if you only want to run around overworld picking flowers and so on.

You don't come around as the kind of guy to trade "I wanna be a mage with a sword" for perfomance. And please don't take that as an insult. Majority of ESO playerbase have never seen a vet dungeon and they all have wonderful time playing the game.

Thanks for the comments everyone. I guess from reading the forums, for some reason I kept thinking for the last 4 years that Mage ment Sorcerer. After reading these comments, it finally CLICKED to me that mage is just not sorcerer at all.

I am a PvE player. Never done a vet dungeon, don't think I ever will. Not good enough. Don't care because I am having a blast playing ESO finally. So now knowing that I can be a dragonknight but still be a mage or be a mage and be a warden or nightblade or what ever. I will go to my sorcerer and try and play him like a non mage like I thought I had to play him.

I guess what I am trying to ask is what are the fun spells and abilities. Sadly I have a bad memory. I also have depression. So that doesn't help. So when I read spells/abilities for one class, I forget them when I start reading another one.

When I am playing a sorcerer I like to cast crystal fragements but thing is when they get up close I have a hard time with my staff. So I made a new class and did dual wield and sword and board. I like it, but I missed casting magika abilities.

I am liking dragonknight getting use to it now. I am liking the special leap ability. (sorry I got the name wrong) but at least I am having fun if it's not very effective. So I am just playing for fun, and smelling the roses as I am discovering the beautiful landscape of Tamriel.

I have that as well. Playing that right now. First I had a Dunmer but she didn't seem to do much damage so I went to an Orc. To me it still seems the same damage. I guess I am not high enough level to see the Dunmer bonus ability to fire yet.

I have that as well. I mean a warden that is Khajit. Good to know I can have fun with him. Never thought of using an ice staff since I read it was the worst weapon in the game. Good to know I can try it and have fun with it.

ya i enjoy ice staff, me and my bf try 2 manning the banish cells i think it calls. It was a group dungeon we found in a ruin. Me and him are still low level but managed to get at least to the second/third boss.

i play ice staff as i prefer the heavy attack taunt over an ability taunt. Since i can just hold down the button and weave in my abilities. people can be biased if they are gun *** at following the meta.
