Why can't I catch a Dab???

Anyone been fishing in Stormhaven? There's an ocean, trophy fish called 'Dab' of green rarity. I just can't seem to catch him, sank about 600 worms into this sucker!
I had the blue trophy fish about 12 times and the other green one more times than I care to count.

Does anyone know if this is bugged or am I just that unlucky?!

I had the same problem. The drop rates are swapped for the blue ocean fish and the dab.

Just think of the dab as the blue fish and enjoy the extra gold from the blue ones

It will drop eventually.

Switch zones, come back later. I've recently completed the master angler achievement and that's what I did when my luck started to run out in a zone. RNG being what it is, some fish will take a long time to catch - I remember I had maybe 50+ green foul water fish in Stonefalls before I caught the last blue one.

I think I have a Dab, I remember it because it was a weirdly named fish. I don't really fish all that often, and for sure I don't remember which character I caught it with.

Have you tried fishing with others? If you have 2 or 3 others with you, Greens and Blues are about all you pull from the water.

This took me forever as well. I caught over 25 of the blue fish trying to catch a Dab.

i'm having the same problem with the dab. not to be a "misery loves company" type but it's kind of a relief it's not just me.

has anybody heard of any similar weirdness with the Northpoint Cod [Rivenspire, Ocean]? i know it could just be RNG, but just wondering.

Well if it's bad RNG it hit me too, I spent ages trying to get that one and failed, still haven't completed that zone. Can't get the last green Auridon lake one either (can't remember it's name). I get plenty of blue ones though... I'm not sure the Master Angler title is for me

The Dab is there......just keep trying. I have caught it at least 6 times as I have 6 Master Anglers. As someone said earlier in the thread, go elsewhere for a couple of days and then come back and try again. RNG is a bi-atch!

I definitely thought it was about that weird thing people do which is only not weird to other weird people who do it.

I guess it just wasn't really a huge thing when people originally posted this thread, and still not common enough that the new necro-posters didn't meme this thread to death so it could be necroed again.

A "necro" refers to a problem that is no longer current. I consider this issue to be still actual as it hasn't been fixed in more than 3 years. I have been able to finally catch the Dab. I only fish waiting for the Cyrodiil queue so I don't have an exact statistic of how many attempts, but it matches the rarity of a blue fish.

It is the blue fish for that zone, from a rarity standpoint. They definitely mixed up the coding for the alcaire pike with the dab.

And ya Swippy, I had issues with the Northpoint Cod as well. I caught probably 40 to 50 Snakehead fish before I finally caught the stupid cod. If I had to guess the game has a hard time when there is two types of blue fish per water type. A similar thing happened to me in the alik'r with the midget salmon and sand eel, to a lesser extent (caught 9 salmon before I got the eel).

It as brought back after a 3 month gap then another 6 month gap in posts and then finally over 2 years later than the last post. That's definitely a necro especially since the issue is not "broken" and just "noticeably rare", like a lot of things we complain about.

Sometimes a new thread is necessary, especially since this took some digging to find.
