problem is not so much engine as the idiotic work to update everything. Altmer furniture is an good example with its low resolution textures, it might been the first sets they made, then decided to increase quality.I mean, WoW is still going strong 14 years after release, and they didn't have top-of-the-line graphics even back then. Graphics are nice, but I have a hard time seeing a mass exodus of players simply because the graphics aren't the best. New graphics typically means a new game engine, which is expensive in of itself to either buy the licensing and modify to your own needs or building one from scratch. On top of that I believe there are over 60,000,000 items and over 10,000 NPCs that are within the game. Updating graphics isn't as simple as just patching the existing game; you might as well use the money to create a new game.
TES 6 will be an single player game, it might have some coop but that is it.markdeloma wrote: »@Raraaku I agree. But actually they do not need to buy a license for a new engine. They make it - themselves. I just hope that something new developed for TES 6 will go to online version.

We are all eager to see the announced TES 6. But I have a question. Sooner or later this series of this game will step into the next era of graphic quality. How can release of TES 6 influence on online version of game? How long will TESO exist with simplified graphics and effects? Will it remain in this form for a long time as the world of warcraft or step into the future with a new series of TES?
What do you think about it?
Its going to die, stars will fall, doom will come.

TESO is not an Online version of TES. No matter how much ZOS keeps pushing that marketing angle.
TES6 will have zero negative effect(maybe a slight temporary dip in active players) on TESO.
The Creation engine does support Multiple players now though(See Fallout 76), so assuming they can scale that up they could move the ESO code to a future version of the Creation engine. Although this would take alot of time and money, which makes it unlikely.

single player games have fell off the map for the more cooperative games now. if you do get a single player game your maximum play time is gonna be 40 hrs of playtime thats it thats not even a week of playtime. mods might give it an extra 40 hrs of play time(if they even support mods for the game or not just killem out right like they did with fallout 76) so really it wont even touch this game at all. it doesnt take long for a single player game to get stale anymore.

Single player games are far from dead, it is just that they do not generate the same continous stream of revenue from subscriptions and microtransactions like the online multiplayer games. Some companies want to change the mindset of players to one that would see the games as a service like any other. Anything you want, you pay for. You want it again, you pay again. No lifetime service for the meager price of the original purchase.

By the time Bethesda gets done monetizing Fallout 76, I expect that you will need to have TWO credit cards on file with them, so they can roll-over when the first one gets maxed out.
I think that ESO monetization is pretty oppressive, now. I don't even want to think about what wonderful new monetization ideas will come over from Fallout 76, once that game releases.
