I have considered it actually but but I can't seem to get the parts I need from the dung to even test it :OThe_Protagonist wrote: »I have a suggestion for meele setup, did you think about trying Overwhelming Surge along with Zaan and Caluurion? It would make the build full glass cannon, but you would have another source of free damage.
zaan-sload-surge with vma backbar resto. absolute domination!
you'll know it by the tears in tells you get. embrace it. what they lack in actual pvp ability, your vanquished foes will try to make up for in whisper pvp. Unfortunately for them, there is no scoreboard for that. Sitting perched on their high horse - they will alas continue to finish 2nd.
and as we all know - 2nd place is code for first LOSER!

Overwhelming Surge > Sload
Overwhelming Surge:
* Has no cooldown
* Reveals enemies in stealth (assuming they´re the ones closest to you)
* Does similar (and sometimes more) damage than Sload
* Can proc the concussion status effect (8% more damage against that target)
* If you run Skoria, Overwhelming Surge can proc Skoria since it´s considered a DoT

Shackle/Riposte/Zaan, btw. I dread to think what's going to happen when I try putting War Maiden or Spinners on with it. Seems like the second set piece on 2h was a game changer after all...

Talking about opponents who lack PvP ability but crutching on Zaan, Sload’s and Surge. The irony.
What set is on your 2h btw?
There IS an argument IMO which is the high CD you get on these burst proc sets, especially zaan and caluurion. This encourages a gank playstyle with only limited time of combat, cloaking until CDs are up again, and reengaging - which I find increadibly boring.zaan-sload-surge with vma backbar resto. absolute domination!

This. I have played melee magblade for years now, and overwhelming always seems to sneak into my builds again. Its such an amazing set for the aforementioned reasons and doesn't have to be doublebared. Plus it has no CD like zaan and caluurion, and more consistent pressure.

I love it because there are only a handful of "nightmare blades" as I call them. Also, my own mNB is pretty well insulated from nerfs
Sure cripple might be getting a duration reduction, funnel got a cost increase, and random nerfs do happen. But as long as everyone sleeps on mNB everyone will continue to be putty in a good mNB's hands. Their only counters are Mark and reflect, and they're pretty hard counters. But mNB has the tools to deal with them. Certainly in 1v1.
Lol @ Hurricane being a counter, I'm super rusty on mNB and I play with my stamsorc food before I eat it. Tanky DK? Eat them up too. Any warden? Yummy. Don't even get me started on mSorc vs mNB. No one counters mNB in 1v1. I literally never died to a Templar 1v1 when I mained mNB (long time ago). Ever.
Honestly I would hate mNB with a burning passion if I hadn't mained it a long time ago. They are ridiculously OP strong. Good mNBs never whine about balance because they live in a glass house where that's concerned.
I hope that was instructional on what to strive for on mNB for some of you newer players. The world is your oyster.
