i returned after a year or so...dont i get summerset by simply being an eso plus member? i just started the game and it is asking me if i want to purchase summerset...please refresh my memory, but i thought one of the perks of being an eso plus member is getting these things for "free"

No, counts as a chapter and not a dlc, Morrowind was the same but has now been given dlc status and as such is free with ESO plus.

    Heyho...

Eso+ contains all the dlcs correct, but Summerset is a Chapter ( like Morrowind before ) so you have to buy it.

Summerset is a chapter like Morrowind was - and chapters are not part of ESO+. You should have Morrowind now though, because it has been converted to a DLC recently. This does not include the Warden class though, which was included in the Morrowind chapter, but is not part of the Morrowind DLC.

It is likely that Summerset will become a DLC as well next year and be included in ESO+ then. So either buy and play it now, or wait and play it next year as ESO+ content. But eventually jewelry crafting, which is part of the Summerset Chapter might not be in the DLC version.

ZOS cleverly (in their opinion) invented a new name for DLCs: "chapters", thus circumventing their promise that all the "DLC" content would be free for ESO+ users.

It introduced jewelry crafting, and the psijic guild class tree. And the usual, new armor sets.

Aside from that, if you like exploration, the area is quite beautiful and has, in my opinion, some of the best level designs in the game to date. Traversing the area and simply exploring on a mount has been lots of fun for me. It also continues the story where Morowind/Clockwork left off.

As others said, no, the newest expansion is a chapter. While we can't be certain, it seems likely that when the post-Summerset "chapter" launches, Summerset will become part of DLC and thus ESO+, because that happened last time.

That'd be a heck of a wait, though.

Just like they got rid of their promise that "there will be no pay gates with ESO" when they released the game

And while there was a mandatory sub, there were no pay gates. Wonder if there could be some vague connection between the two things.....

And the dlc is free to eso+ members; granted, they had to wait a year for Morrowind, but it is available in the crown store now. Have to buy the warden class separate, but the dlc is free.

They should really just add warden to the base game already so they can buff magden to be as good as the other classes in pvp and pve without having to worry about the inevitable pay to win backlash feedback they would get from meta class mains

What they call it doesn't really matter. If you go read the agreement you will see ESO+ gives you the content available in the crown store. Summerset is not available in the crown store. That is the difference.

Same thing like in WoW - you must buy new expansions no matter how much you pay othereise. )) It is fair imo cause it provides much more content than normal DLC.

so technically it IS a DLC, but they label it differently so they could make money off it...

Nope, if it were a DLC we could get it in the crown store. So technically it is something else. I have had ESO+ since it has been offered so for me personally I would like to see these things be DLCs. Chapters though give the game a chance to attract new players that might otherwise not try the game so I don't mind so much. It is a trade off that to me helps keep the game alive so I accept it.
