LOL you guys are complaining about a pleasant 34C, in Dammam Saudi Arabia, it's 42C right now, which is much lower than a couple of weeks ago, we go up to 48C along with humidity in the range of 65% to 90% and on rare occasions it's even 100%.

August is pretty painful so we still have a good month ahead of us.

Yeah, as someone who's lived both in France and Brazil (the North, where it's equatorial), I can assure you that the situations are difficult to compare. Warm countries are usually equipped to handle the heat. Even if walking down the streets is a chore, you'll find no shortage of A/C'd stores to stop by, and the A/C is usually cranked all the way up [in middle class neighborhoods and more, of course]. The streets usually have some form of shade. The fact that it's warm all year round also means that you're USED to the heat.

In France, hot summer times tend to work in "heat waves", though in the late years these heat waves are becoming the norm. While the houses are well insulated, they're mostly thought out to keep the cold OUT for harsh winter times, so as to save energy on heating. Most houses do not have A/C. We were so unprepared for heat in 2003 that the heat wave killed thousands, specifically old people.

Now, you couldn't PAY me enough for me to live in a warm country because I like the cold, okay, and while you can always add a layer of clothes when it's cold, there's only so much you can take OFF before you're dying to claw out of your own skin from the heat.

But heat is definitely not easy here too.

We don't have A/C. I'd bet you do.

Yes we do, I can understand how painful it is to sleep at night with out temperature control. Are these heat waves common during summer in your place or is it more intense than last year?

We've been seeing them for, hmmm, about the past five years mostly. Tends to be a month or so either in July or August where it all goes bonkers. Actually (whispering) we've been really lucky this year. Up 'til this past weekend we didn't see much over 25-27c and then BOOM. Averages are 24/13. We're forecast for this to sit on us 'til mid-August.

    I need my distraction! :)

Yes ZOS brings us a constant temperature of 25 degrees, a swimming pool under the house and the sea at 5 minutes walk.

I don't. Gets to 37 here in summer. Been -7 overnight here lstely

Yeah, we get those temps here as well. The minus 7 doesn't bother me a bit. Can always add more (especially if you're a knitter, which I am). But weeks on end with 30+ is really rough. We've got elderly dying. :(

    :'( that is sad.

Not sure why there is such a dearth of A/C here, even the shops can be grudging about turning it on although the past few years has seen an improvement there. Guess it's down to this isn't "normal" so no need to do anything about it. I would tend to disagree as it's starting to become a trend and it's harming people.

Then again, at least we're not in Tokyo. Good Gawd.

This summer in central Europa doesn't have extrem temperature spikes, but it's been hot and basically not raining at all for months on end now. There are wildfires from Greece to Sweden and the harvest is the worst for a long time because of the drought.

Apparently there was a banner announcement as far back as Sunday. Several users in the German community confirmed that.

Can confirm this as well - and I only use the English version of the forums. So it hasn't exactly been a secret. It's been in the forum banner, and it was even shown when opening the game launcher (as I saw it yesterday before launching the game).

The only real issue is that the maintenance is taking it's sweet time, and there is no official thread or posts in any of the patch and maintenance forums.

Big difference is your countries and architecture are built to keep heat out. In other places where the weather is normally mild, it's built to keep heat in. Very few have air con as well.

That, and you've grown/evolved to cope with the heat. We have not. We've adapted to live in our mild climates, so weather like this can be deadly for us--especially the elderly, sick, homeless and other vulnerable groups.

So *** no, I won't be going outside thank you very much ;)

Here in the UK it's been hot for weeks......

BUT the most astonishing thing has been that the kid's have broken up for their Summer Holidays and it hasn't immediately started raining EVERY day!!! B)B)

I'd say rain would be nice right about now but all that would do is add humidity which would make this all the worse. Right now the humidity is only 50%.

It's worse and worse every year (I'm Hungarian). When I was a child the summer was 25/30 C hot, and it was rarely hotter. Now it's above 30 C from the end of May to September. Actually this year is surprisingly mild so far, although the summer temperature has started at the end of April...

They're doing okay here. We had pretty decent weather 'til this past weekend. They're on the third hay cutting and the maize is looking just fine. The corns are in or being brought in so now it's waiting on the maize (months off yet) and keeping the livestock hydrated.

To the west in the UK dairy farmers and other livestock farmers that rely on grass are having to use their winter stocks to feed their animals due to grass shortages. Natural watering holes have dried up as well.

I know. :( The UK has really been hit hard by this. Only the archaeologists are somewhat happy with all the parch marks showing up.

Horrible summer and imagine those up in or by the Arctic Circle?
