Yes frankly it gets a bit tiresome when you have more than two characters !

The downside would be you would miss out on the experience points for completing it .

I started a new character yesterday and when the Prophet told me to come to the Harborage, I was like "Noooooooo! I don't want to!!" I think an option to skip that would make a lot of people happy.

I would be willing to waive that XP. That's how tiresome I find that scene after doing it so many times.

Let's face it, ZoS aren't going to create a little more dialogue (would need voicing) and program an option to skip it.

Yeah it sucks but it's not like you're doing it on the same character over and over so it's not too bad.

I only did this on 1 character so far, and I didn't know I could skip it, so I spent the time running away from the Prophet to see if it would give the option to skip or I just ran in circles while he talked. See this, THIS is why I really really really want a violin in-game.

It's really not that bad. Run to where you know he's going to stop and wait for him to meander along.

(One of them has the option to 'look into his mind's eye' or not, though I don't recall which one.)

I don't want to skip the history lesson. I want to skip the entire quest. Just throw me the skill points and let's call it a day.

This is the most tedious quest line in the entire game.

It's so boring, even ZoS has allowed new players to forgo it just to get into the game.

If a player has completed the MQ once, alts should be given the skill points by selecting "Skip Tutorial and Main Quest?" (3 second timer).

1st Character: Wow, so that's how the Planemeld happened! You guys kinda should have seen that coming, you know? Mannimarco was obviously evil. Now I've lost my soul thanks to y'all, but sure I'll help you out! Down with Molag Bal!

    ...

15th Character: Dude, old buddy, old pal, I already know how this goes down, whadya say we skip to the part where I agree to help you and you give me the useless jewelry I'm gonna decon and that sweet skill point I'm really here for.

Bit difficult when the entire scene/segment doesn't play out in one continuous part. You need to interact with him a handful of times, so it's not as if you can just leave it until it's done.

    "Yes" it is, then.

They should really impliment some of this so that we dont have to repeat things. Maybe make it as such, so that people who want to do thibgs from scratch again, can. And those who don't, don't have to. I have various characters cause I think I personally learn more about the game and how it works with different builds. But for the second time around I prefer not to do the Harbourage or Cadwell's quests ever again. Even some others like the psijic quest. I'm not going to do that again either.
So an option to start from scratch or continue with what's been done in character creation would be really helpful.
I get why they won't implement it on a marketing prospective though.

Honestly, there should be an option to skip ALL drawn-out dialogue scenes that we have no interaction with. Especially during all of Mannimarco's long diatribes. Every time I've done the Main Quests, there are so many long, drawn out babble sessions that we have to sit through, but Mannimarco's is the worst. Sancre Tor, you have to sit through all of his 'projection' babblings, it drives me nuts that we don't have a 'skip' option... just cut to the chase already!!

When this game first released, it was worse. If you walked ahead of the Prophet, he would stop and stop talking. So you had to do the slow walk with him. At least now you can run ahead and wait for him to shuffle along.

Must be all the Cut Scenes I endured playing Final Fantasy that makes me ambivelent about this. Anyone remember FF10, it took about 90 minutes to get that game started.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

Yep... usually what I do is pop open the skills window and begin planning the next point placement, what I still need to level, etc. Or, just use it as time for a bathroom break. ;)
