Houses Invisible Wall Borders

Most houses have rocks or walls around the house that we can get on but we can not move around on the entire area. For example, I'm working on decorating the Exorcised Coven Cottage and can get on the rocks and walls around the cottage but can only take a few steps before I'm blocked. This is space most of us want to use, to decorate. I honestly do not understand why the border is not on the back side of these rocks and walls so we can utilize the space.

ZOS, please change this for all houses in the game now, and all future houses. Back up that invisible wall.

Same in earthtear. Entire right side of water has areas I should be able to decorate.

These 'invisible' boundaries are purposeful and necessary but at the same time the location of the boundaries are somewhat arbitrary.

Basically your house is an 'instance' that runs most likely on your own hardware and loads a 'small' portion of the actual game map onto your system.

What is loaded for the instance is only part of the actual game map, not the entire thing. The developers then 'isolate' the areas that is your home and ensure it is fully tests for map anomalies such a 'holes' that would allow you to fall through the map, or cervices where you character can get stuck an not be able to move.

They then include enough of the rest of the game map so that you can see 'scenery' for the areas you can see 'outside' of your home boundaries. That area is not tested and only contains enough of the map data to allow you have a familiar view that matches the 'in game' experience. That area is not fully fleshed out or safe to travel in which is why the place invisible boundaries to prevent you from getting there.

There have been some bugs where people have been able to get outside of this boundary and travel around the 'scenery' area, they were even able to place furniture there. However as you watch videos of what they did the map is not 'finished' in that area.

What is 'arbitrary' is where they place those boundaries and I agree that Zos has mad some bad design decisions in that area. I guarantee they could have given you access to the area you are referring to, but for one reason or another they decided not to.

Yeah, there have been and still are errors. I got stuck recently in my Colossal Aldmeri Grotto. I couldn't jump up or down, or walk in any direction. I had to travel to another one of my homes to free myself.

You can still place items through the zone wall. In your case, where only the dimensions of rocks is at issue, you should be golden. Assuming it's not functional furniture like chairs, etc.

Generally, your limited by the placement distance limit, which is pretty decent. But you can overcome that by setting an item outside the placement distance, picking it up and placing it without manipulating the object. Or, as I did, send your items 200,000+ meters away using Essential Housing Tools by @R_K

Edit: I frequently set items outside zone walls for effect, like large statues or the huge Orcish Braziers. At one point I built a dock and submarine that I put outside the zonewall simply because the structure I had built ended to close to the zone wall.

Why didn't you just use the "Z" button to port to the entrance?
