If ESO had Kids in it....

This specific topic is not something I am particularly for, given that I would feel really bad if I accidentally hurt even a fictional kid, (lol) but with that said, for the sake of argument, how do you think eso would have been different if there were kids in it?
Kids as town folk, bad guys, and everywhere you would find kids in general.

* The game would be harder for me. Can you imagine a quest where some daedric bad guy disguises himself as an innocent child?

This is precisely the plot of a quest in Skyrim. Well in this case, the Daedric bad guy was influencing the kid's mind, but it's more or less the same thing.

The game wouldn't be much different, really. Children tend to be unkillable in games due to various morality issues so they'd be little more than flavour.

Nay, Unless we can kill them which would be tough to most of the players. I see no harm in hurting pixels. Even Skyrim does not allow you to slaughter a child, you can hit them , but they are invulnerable to any damage, unless you use some sort of exploits of unofficial mods. Why people get so sensitive about kids, Do not mistake me, a murder of innocent adult woman/man is equal to kid, Murder is a murder or torture. A murder of elder person ,kid or adult ,they are all the same in my eyes. If you take a life , age does not matter. Act does. And innocent is a point of view, Being honest only. I would not mind personally if they add kids , the world would feel more immersive and alive, Realistic or Adoption option,Parenting. People are afraid even to talk about kids , they fear to be declared as .. I believe you already know what which is funny. Gaming is so serious these days, A Deadric prince should be able to slaughter anything ,regardless of gender and age, Count me in that category.

Update: Think about it, Is it the same or even the worse,One can indefinitely smash a child in Skyrim ,but one cannot kill it. The idiotic views on today's gaming. There are so many horrendous acts and gore and you are not allow to even incapacitate a pixel kid, It does not make sense at all.

I haven't tried skyrim. I mean I bought it but I got as far as past the intro and was with a guy, later on a woman joined and (being used to eso being the first one of the series I tried), swung my sword at her and she died :0 I didn't nean to do that lol. So good to know. I honestly didn't know it was a done plot :)

You can not pickpocket quest or service NPC, but this is also because of griefing, having an quest giver chase you in an circle so none other could interact would be annoying.
Kids probably not because of complexity.
Remember hitting an kid in FO3 during an gunfight, brat was armed and chased me so I had to run away.
Grinding just make you go in circles.

I can sympathise with thee. I understand as well, the Visuals today are incredibly realistic and one image /Animation is enough to trigger severe phobia. I do not look it from such perspective, when I play games and "hurt" pixels, anything goes, from Underage kids, animals, eldery , gender is irrelevant as well. I shut myself down because all of that is simply unreal and it wont hurt anybody especially if that is an MOB or Single player game. The issue lies in the mentality of individuals, they take game far too personally. You will be potentially declared as mentally ill if you wish to kill pixel kids and slaughtering hundreds of women is acceptable, it is not? ;) What about dogs and chickens!!! Hey! I know couple of dogs more worth than Skyrim kids and far less irritating!

I still find myself saying 'sorry bambi', if I arrow a deer to get the meat for provisioning lolol Sometimes you don't get meat from them and I feel even worse. I'm a little weird when it comes to eso lol. It's the only game I treat like this and the only one I have with animals in, & has some doesn't want to eat me. Not like 7DTD where you shoot or die.

Hey on a different note, why aren't we able to give all npc beggars gold? I think I've given to one before. But most I cant. They can at least let us give them food

Harming children in videogames is illegal is several European countries, it's just easier to avoid children altogether when they would also just be a pointless resource drain, say f.ex. in an MMO.

Another stupid law implementation. The Real life abuse of the Children is illegal and should be severely punished, or Abuse of players, especially Under-rage ones not the Vanquishing process of several pixel virtual kids beings, the Violence in general and addiction can have far greater impact on your mental health in a long run. I find it rather ironic in the end when you mentioned harming, you can infinitely harm children in Skyrim without killing them which is even worse. What about an insane Orc hammering Children in the village That is legal? :) It is indeed. It would be better if you can finish them with one strike. I find it annoying they are impervious to damage, Personally I would go Sithis on them with their constant following around.

In an adult oriented game, where no one ages, when no one ever really dies... who needs children in such a world.

Plus looking at some of the disturbing possibilities mentioned above, I am happy that there is nothing like that in ESO, and hopefully never will be.

One of the most uncomfortable portions of the game for me is combat trash-talk from bandit NPCs
"Keep one of them alive, so we can have some fun later"
simple throw-away line, but it psychologically impacts differently based on whether a male or female voiced character states it
Speculation on my part, but presuppose that male players who hear the line may be less likely to be made uncomfortable by potential implications

with that said, stuff like MxR constantly killing Braith in his Skyrim videos has reached a point where it is so over-the-top as to make the violence relatively inconsequential
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=59VB97bTHfA

but have seen underwear-clad player charactedrs grinding against horses and doing pushups on corpses in my time playing
such occurrences would have potentially been uncomfortable enough for me to turn the game off, had the players been targeting children with their actions instead

there is a fine line between what does and does not get stressful,
but do recognize myself as being the mentally ill one

Twas a sarcastic, rather more gloomy comment from my side , I have to admit. I do mean you will be indeed be declared as one, but I've seen some terrible comments before, People do not think before they say something. Typical. The bandit line is light provocative insult, One should not get upset so easily. I've seen far ,far worse.Quite contrary to your statement ,both men and women can find it distressing as well...
"light provocative insult" -- it is interesting you term it as such
for me, it is a reference to the NPC's desire to do unsavory things to my character should we lose in combat
am not bringing it up to be like "it's a *** joke and shouldn't be in game!"
but reflecting on how a comparatively passive statement can be impacted by a condition like PTSD

again, recognize myself to be the individual with diagnosed mental health issues; not claiming pixel sadism to be reflective of personal values by any stretch of imagination
have also spoken out here and on other gaming forums against people labeling PvP players as 'sociopath' or 'psychopath'
    Vanya wrote: »

I've seen Semi-Naked players in MMO's "Corpse jumping" other dead players {PVP} Using emotes which are similar to sexual act in attempt to provoke or imitate real sexual intercourse which can be indeed at least irritating, disturbing and even sickening, but to be perfectly fair in the end, these players are often doing it for attention. They will do anything for attention, even the most negative one. Stressful again is a point of view
    ...

similar to this, there are fairly explicit and distasteful implications with the act of 'tea bagging'

do agree that stressful is a point of view tho -- my sentiments come explicitly as someone who does deal with being triggered and thrown into attacks reflecting on past trauma
and my gaming history goes back to a time when child NPCs could be killed in something like Fallout, though the game would penalize the player for doing so -- even if it was an accident caused by missing a legitimate target

but am not asking for things to be censored and padded to accommodate me, just reflecting on the possibility of where the game community would get to the point of me simply turning the game off and going back to something single player

Do sincerely wish for more control over my own emotional responses to particular things, but am in regular therapy to that end
it is among my challenges to navigate, and am not seeking to diminish the experiences of other gamers for my sake

Thanks for the chat tho <3

    In an unrelated matter... Just putting it out there. In an attempt to share my opinion;

Even with my explinations and posts above, the phobias and my game play preference, to get real for just a minute. I'm a firm believer that games have no role or responsibility for real life violence. And people who use it as an excuse and get away with harming others in real life will get no sympathy from me.
Games are not responsible for violence in the world.

...how do you think eso would have been different if there were kids in it?
Some quests would suddenly make a lot more sense.

I mean, the "My mom still treats me like a kid even though I am fully grown" thing only works that one time, when next you have to guide a fully grown "lost" redguard two dozend steps before he finds his way home again... that's more of a groaner... as are several other quests where a role that was kinda written for a kid or at the very least juvenile is filled by an adult looking NPC.

Otherwise... the world would feel a bit more realistic, when cities had kids underfoot. As long as they are not too annoying... I see no problem. (And I actually -hate- kids, comes from living fifteen years next to a daycare center... as a nerdy night owl, getting torn from my sl

      Indeed.
Morality and legality issues, in some places.
If there were kids in safezone cities, you can expect them to be unattackable, or at the very least auto-dodging all attack attempts while giving you a huge bounty if you try it.
I wonder if you pickpocketed a kid, what you get ...
Candy? A lolly? Something like that...
Or if they were able to pickpocket you
      ...like in FallOut-II, maybe?
And what a mess that was! The game had one town where kids pickpocketed you, and if they were successful, you could get your iutem back if you intercepted them befor they cound fence it... but in the european version, they removed the kids because they were attackable, but forgot to remove the pickpocketing code... so you had items randomly getting stolen with no way to get them back...
