Data use for hotspot

So my home internet is down does anyone know how much data it takes to play this game online I got 20gb hotspot for Verizon?

I imagine it's probably slightly more intensive than streaming a hq movie over the internet. My hq Netflix is 3-5mb/s so do the math.

I googled it, it says some online games take a 1gb a hr but all the info was from 2014 nothing new

Also if you can set it to cut off at a certain amount you could save yourself from getting gouged.

I have Verizon dsl at 2.5 mps its fine for online gaming but it goes out a lot so I just use 20gbi should be able to play 8 hrs without using all 20gb

I'm on xbox so can't use that lol but internet is back on so this can be helpful for future reference.
I've used about 30 mins says I used 500mbs

I used to play tethered to my phone all the time. My plan was basically high speed for the first 5gb, then I would be throttled.
I'd play the game exclusively through my phone for several hours every night (had a job where this was possible) and it never ate through all my data. YMMV but playing games is not nearly as intensive as streaming video.

Can you play online at 600kbs speeds on this game if you go over your data limit for hotspot and your home internet is down?

It does not use much data, that 20G will be well enough for the entire month.

What you want to check is latency and ping, mobile can be notoriously bad for that.

As long as your doing nothing else your fine. I had to do so the other week and i didnt even go through a gig in 3 or 4 days. Pretty sure its about 10-50mbs per hour

You’re fine. I have to use my 10 gb Verizon hotspot for all of my online gaming, and I pretty much never run out. Games like ESO and even Halo only use like 50 - 100 mb per gaming session for me.

Pretty sure you can, I think I’ve done it in the past. You may have a bit more latency, but I assume it should be playable

My carrier allow me to manual throttle down to save data plan and it is like 200kbps when it does. Still play fine.
Just make sure not to download the huge patch through mobile when it come out.

I did 3 hours raids on 4g and it used up about 100mb per hour. Data usage is very low, but doing things like PvP in Cyro will probably use more.

It works well on that. The only thing that will ever test your download caps on mobile is the game patches.
Playing the game uses tiny amounts of data.

I currently game on a mobile hotspot off my cellphone that is limited to 512kbps speed with no issues related to that at all. In fact, it's more reliable than my home 10mbps connection, which is why I'm on the mobile.
You just have to watch out for patch downloads.

On 4g just pve if that would even make a difference it's about 250mb or less an hour.

Yeah actually I forgot that I downloaded something that was about 1gb yesterday. I'd say it is probably close to 100mb/h.

I've used roughly 1 Gb on my phone hotspot (90mbps) playing ESO since 30June till date. Play everyday for 3-4hours, weekends much longer.

Seems like to me this game takes up not much but when I googled it it said destiny took 1gb a hr and I thought take more since I'm using 4k graphics on Xbox one x

From everything I’ve heard, destiny does use a ridiculous amount of data. Faster paced first person shooters typically do use more data, but stuff like MMOs shouldn’t use much

Been playing this game on an At&t 4G lte Galaxy S5 (that's right, S Five) hotspot with 40 gigs/MO for over 2 years and have never had a problem with connection or using too much data. I pvp and do end game content regularly. I'd say as long as you have a solid connection, you're good to go. I'm excited to try the 5g whenever it becomes available in my area.

Edit* Forgot to mention I'm on Xbox NA.
