Race Against Time - The REAL MVP for Magplar

I've looked around on the web, in the forums and in game and I have not seen any appreciation for this skill anywhere. In fact, I saw several threads talking about what utter garbage it is.

So I'm here to spread the good word of my lord and savior, Race Against Time.

That's right. There is a morph OTHER than Channeled Acceleration. Let me show you what this bad boy does:

zMvH5m0.jpg

"But Inarre, why would I use that when I was forced to be a vampire for the last 5 patches due to no mobility/no more shield stacking with heavy armor/nerfed shields in PVP?"

I am so glad you asked, my fellow Magplar. I was a vampire too, until I took an oil to the face. While I was laying, my corpse burning on the ground, I asked myself... "WHY?!" And then, a little voice answered me. I'm not sure if it was the sound of the fire crackling in my ears, or Arkay, but I knew. This blessing was a curse... And as a healer, I could not risk it. So I've been a reformed woman since Orsinium. And BELIEVE ME. I have paid the price. I even paid for extra support beams in my house and watched as they crumbled around me as the zerg climbed in the battering ram.

"But Inarre, what if I want to continue to cry about how ZOS want's me to stand in my house?"

NO MORE, friends. It is time to leave the old ways behind. We no longer will be forced to the dark side just to live another day. My Psijic brethren have shown me the way of running at reduced cost, the way of using half the magicka I would to do the same as a vampire AND maintaining my magicka regen in retreat. That is not all. They have shown me a nifty shield, how to shoot orbs at people while I run, AND the way of purifying and healing myself at top speed. The kicker? I can do this all IN STEALTH.

Join us in the revolution my fellow Magplars. Let us be the flag carriers in every battlegrounds match and show them what we REALLY can do.

yes I love this skill on my magplar in pvp..extra dmg and the ability to move around the battle field quicker is much more beneficial than mist form. it has also saved my ass more times than mist form ever has.. clense - race against time

I would definitely consider this. I use mist form and invigorating drain on my back bar. I would probably put javelin on in place of drain.

I just wish it was like 5s.

I switched to this skill as soon as I unlocked it, dropped vampirism, and haven't looked back.

I don't think the ability is quite as good as you say it is, since it still doesn't offer me what Mist Form did. With Mist Form, I knew I could get from point A to point B without anything hindering my movement (well, at least once they fixed the snare poison). This still won't offer you a real counter to snares unless you're conveniently placed near LOS, which is why I often run it with Forward Momentum (yes, even on magplar).

I thought it was really short too, but after using it I don't find the short duration a problem at all. It's super cheap so it's fine to spam, especially for someone with good mag regen.

Oh interesting! Thanks for commenting I will have to try it on my stamplar. I wasn't sure if it was a good option for its cost.

One of my Templars is a Vampire and uses this over mist. I tend to forget to recast it in fights but that's not a flaw with the skill, it's a flaw with me.

I'd use it on other characters too if I didn't have to slog through the questline over and over on each one.

I can see it being useful. I guess dps might wish for the minor force but speed/immovable/invisible pots + hasty prayer= 3 seconds of minor and plenty of time (close to 1 minute, definitely longer than the potions cooldown) in major expedition

    Quick question. Or two.

How do you make up for the 10% Magicka and Stamina recovery you are going to lose if you get rid of Vampire?

I would really like to no longer be a Vampire on my Templar healer. The recovery is really nice when I run trials though and I don't have problems with staying alive.

PvP I usually only use mist form to get me from the front of the keep to the back flag and other similar situations. Not sure the Race Against Time skill will help with that?

I have the Psijic skill line done but I don't see how using the skills will help me not be a Vampire. Insight would be appreciated.
and then the parrot said, "must be the water mines green too."

I'll speak my opinion but hopefully some other templars will hop in too.

Personally I have no real issue sustaining (Breton) though of course it got a bit more challenging after Morrowind.

I currently run 3 pieces regen jewellery, small pieces divines, regen mundus. Most often I wear Olorime and Mending in PVE I think my healer currently has 75 in mag regen for CP... 100 is totally advisable though. I think I have 75 in due to vMA lol. And I ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS have channeled focus down. Always. If I start to feel drained, I know its because I was bad and didn't buff up.

The only place where I have found it more challenging to sustain is in a trial where you have to spam purge. But even then there are a ton of ways to help your magic regen. Something which has been irreplaceable to me on my tank and allowed me to go full health stats is meditate, so I've been experimenting with this on my healer as well. I try to work it in to sneak in a few precious seconds of speed-regen, no longer than a heavy attack or when I know my team isn't going to take a ton of damage (think, prayer phase after you've relocated).

I think a lot of the things that challenge healers with regen also are that they don't take the assistance that the DPS are getting. Grab one of the other healer's orbs before you spam your own, slot IA and heavy attack an off balanced boss, light attack in between your heals or debuff rotation, make sure elemental drain is down before you throw down your wall of elements. If you're really feeling drained, slot radiant aura for the 10% regen bonus there (I might even slot this semi-permanently until you feel more comfortable if you do decide to get cured).

Something I'm playing with is how my rotation plays for purge heavy fights using asylum resto to reduce the cost. There are tons of other options depending on build and content, too, such as maelstrom resto or Jorvulds (if you use jorvulds to reduce the number of times you need to combat prayer for buff - dont use this with asylum resto imo).

There are tons of other little tips to improve regen on a healer, but I think it comes down to just getting "used" to it. The 10 percent, while nice, doesn't make or break it for me. That however may change if changes on the pts go live for channeled focus :weary: I know my original post sounded a bit anti-vamp, but I meant it more tongue-in-cheek to be funny. My intention was to praise ZOS for giving Magplars an alternative way to access mobility. If you LOVE vampire, or you use their other skills/passives and you find that you don't want to or can't give it up I think that's great too. There are totally tons of vampire healers out there who do great with it. That just wasn't me. I didn't like the playstyle, and I'm very happy that now I can enjoy mobility while choosing not to play that way.

Race Against Time in that situation, in my opinion, is more useful for me and my raid group... For the soul purpose that I can purge and heal AS I run through so my team is getting support during the breach.

If you run in a group of vampires, obviously this is no problem. Y'all just mist in through the seige ! Mist form is still really good for your own personal damage reduction. Let me make it clear that the psijic line is a really good option to assist with regen and speed when used correctly, but it will not replace vampire if damage reduction is the reason you are using it (although some could argue blocking intermittently with the shield may help reduce damage taken). What turns me away from it (mist form) is solely the support role I've chosen to take and the issue that I cannot help my team while I am channeling mist... And they need my help the most when we're breaching a keep.

This is awesome. As I was writing this post I was thinking that there HAS to be some vampires using psijic skills out there. Your regen must be through the roof!

Been running this since the first week of summerset on my magplars...essential for a Gankplar for extra speed in stealth and extra crit dmg. It also really shines when you load cp into sprint reduction on an Argonian with potion cooldown enchantments and the skooma smuggler set active!

The stealth really surprised me. I stealthed and thought "for sure this will break stealth". When it didn't I was like "HOLY ***. THIS IS BETTER THAN RAPIDS".

Oddly enough not really. I forget why but the set up has one of the lower regens among my characters.
