DK Magika Tank questions

benoit_mmob16_ESO
For a DK Magika Tank what is the better setup?

- 5 Heavy armors, 2 light
- 5 Light armors, 2 heavy

Also what will be the set or armor that you will be recommending?

Thank you

I don't use a DK Magika Tank but I would 5H 1M and 1L or 6H and 1L. I do have a magic Templar tank and that is what I use on it.

Sets are ebon and Plague doctor at the moment but probably going to try different sets them PD. As farm as helms I use Lord Warden now but may change to bloodspawn or 2 magic regen helms.

What level are you assuming in Undaunted Mettle?

Typically Tanks will run 5-H/1-M/1-L to take full advantage of the Undaunted Mettle passive, with the medium and light armor pieces pertaining to the Monster Helm set.

Ebon Armory and Plague Doctor's is a good set-up for any tank, but especially newer tanks as Plague Doctor gives a massive health boost at 5-piece set bonus, and Ebon is essentially standard thanks to it granting your entire group +1k max health within range; which is always great due to adding survivability to the DPS members who are understandably pretty squishy. Even with food buff a DPS will still need around 1k more health to prevent getting one-shotted in Vet content where the margin of error is a lot tighter. Plague Doctors is also fairly cheap, with the most expensive pieces coming from 1h and Shield pieces (I run my Plague Doctors set on 3 jewelry and the sword and board on both bars when I'm using it).

Also, try to be sure your Stamina is higher than your Magicka for resource management purposes. A lot of skills that grant synergy based resources, like Luminous Shards, restore whichever resource pool is higher (Magicka or Stamina), and blocking is expensive resources wise and it can be hard to weave in heavy attacks. Especially if you're new to the dungeon/trial and don't know the boss mechanics yet.
