What do?! I was playong around 1pm took a break got on youtube and when i wanted to play again i cant even get to the character selection screen. 10 minutes later i got to select my toon but now i am stuck on "requesting character load" for 10 minutes now

It is part of the patch to fix things. The servers wont crash if you give each character 10 minutes to process an action.
