Storage Coffers

I have been known to totally swing and miss on an issue. Once, back in 2000 I think. In any case, based on the description of the storage coffers, I thought they would be completely compartmentalized storage, especially since they do not show up as bank space. So, I didn't buy any until recently.

The fact that furnishings stored in the coffers show up in the housing editor, just like furnishings in your bank or inventory, completely escaped my attention.

So, what I thought would be annoying and marginally useful turned out to be exceptional. You don't junk up your bank inventory with furnishings, but the furnishings are always available at the time you need them, when you go to place items. I don't sell furnishings and catalog furnishings in my head, so at least for me, I don't see a drawback

Thought I'd share that in the event that I am not the only one clueless about this feature.

Yes...it’s a very helpful feature. Fill coffer. Coffer now has your items (monster helms?) and you can go to any of your homes, throw down the coffer, and bam.

I’m not sure the one I hav completely full of filled soul gems in necessary, though. I need to sell some crap off, lol.

unless its changed recently, they dont show up in the editor unless you open the coffer.
as in walk into home, try to place furnishings - they arent there.
walk into home, open coffer, place furnishings - they are.

im ok with this. i dont need to spam my available furnishings list all the time.

I checked again. I put all of my attunement stations in two coffers. They are all available for placement in the housing editor.

I forgot to mention that all the stackable items stack in the coffers (like in the bank), which makes it particularly nice for housing item storage.

Hmm...it doesn't work that way for me, but then I don't have attunement stations in my storage. But, if I want to place any furnishings that I have in my storage, I have to open that storage first. Was the case for me last night when I was doing some decorating.

I'm on XB, so I don't know if it's a console thing or not. Also, maybe it has to do with the type of furnishings. Maybe service furnishings aren't affected by this? Or maybe it's if you have that storage container out in all your homes? I do, so maybe if you have it placed in more than one home, you have to open it first.

My experience with the coffers on PC has been the same: I have to open the container once prior to using the housing editor, else none of the coffer-stored items appear in the housing editor inventory.

There is a difference between Inventory and Storage. Inventory is something your character works with so has to accesible in real time. This is why you can work on items that are in the Bank without taking them out first.

Storage is something that can be accessed but not worked with. So it kind of makes sense you can see your furniture when your in your house. However I am glad that it does not work the same way for crafting at my home, if I put something in a Coffer, i want to keep it.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

Ah, I assumed that meant open the storage to extract items. I'll check when I can.
