Yep, I have characters on all 3 alliances. Alliance only matters in PvP, and since I don't PvP, alliance doesn't matter.

True, but RPing a high-elf in Morrowind or Dunmer in Glenumbria is not an easy thing to do.

All 3 suck. Both have an equal amount of bad players. Both Zerg hard (and from reading this... I feel like you’re a zergling so it wouldn’t really matter) both have it’s fair share of good players, drama and toxic players.

    To break it down;
AD - Lord Of The Rings; Bowtards. Ft. No SkiLlz
EP - Ahhh durrrrrr, I slept with your MOM last night! HAAAA NERD
DC - *Slowly looks at you, head to toe... taking a moment to really notice the feet* Tehee, *i giggle, as the other cringe ERPer dances erotically*

To break it down to as simple as it can get...

AD - Bunch of Bowtards spamming lethal and have no actual skill.
EP - A bunch of toxic, Day dreaming players that are actually dumb.
DC - Just a bunch of E/RPer’s in Zone chat and do actually nothing as a faction, it’s the small scale groups that do the work.

The first 10 days of playing this game I was in EP and that experience soured me for the rest of my ESO life. Something about Stonefalls man, the dregs just gather. Since the One Tamriel update is pretty equal all around but I will say that it seems to me that the people who choose AD or DC are more likely to be your traditional fantasy fan, Tolkien, Forgotten Realms, elves, knights, etc. for some reason it translates to a nicer group of people (helpfulness in zone chat).

Having said that there are some really great pvp guildmates of mine (helpful, patient and badass) that are on EP so first impressions aren’t everything.

I really love daggerfalls area. Their hero imo was the coolest. The storylines are perfected if you love haunted things or desert themes. We got wyrds with the bloodthorn cults and werewolves in glenumbra. This was my favorite of all the areas quest lines. Zombie out breaks. All within a midevil theme. We have Bretons, orcs and redguards which are all 3 fantastic in their own ways.

I have, but that’s not as fun as hearing other peopke’s takes on what makes each alliance good. This is a way of increasing immersion into the game, not only for me, but maybe by way of nostalgia, reminding people why they picked their own alliance :)

Hey @Actually_Goku , this is an MMO, there is no immersion, unless, of course you're high on drugs. Endlessly bouncing people riding multi-coloured tigers, giant spiders and flaming animals while being chased by daedric beings, dogs, flaming animals and flying nightmares while trying to kill each other and everything else that moves is not terrible immersive to me. Note that this was in Vulkel Guard on your average Saturday morning.

Ebonheart Pact. They dont want to conquest, they just want to be independent. And they have nords and dunmers! They color is red, which is symbol of honor and bravery, and they animal is a dragon! How cool is that?

On the other hand, the covenant want to conquest, and they have the two most boring race in the game (breton and redguard).

The dominion are basicly a bunch of nazis, thinking they are the superior race (poor misguided khajits!). Not to mention, who want to be part of the yellow team, and they spirit animal is a chicken. A chicken!

    Pick an alliance!

I’ve played this game since console launch, in the shadows, purely as a PVE player with only 2 IRL friends, and a few guildies here and there. I know the mechanics inside out, I’m low-key a beast dueller, have played in both XB servers...

But for the life of me, I can’t pick an alliance to start REALLY getting into Cyrodiil! I’m not too concerned about player bases, especially since 1T came out.

    So let’s play a game;

Your chosen monarch, has appointed you the head of recruiting. You need good soldiers to join your cause to bring victory to your lands! Take this opportunity to sell new players into joining your alliance! You can explain why you chose it too!

All input appreciated. Plz help probably the most indecisive ESO veteran in existence.

dont pick any they all suck on all platforms play all three or play bg's

I feel like this is dependent on server and campaign type. From what I can see, EP dominates Vivec on XB1 NA (maybe not recently but historically) and the AD and DC often work together.

But then in Shor, DC seems to have the numbers.

I feel population-wise, it goes EP-AD-DC, with DC being considerably less than the other 2, but with a more PVP-centric base to balance it out.

We hunted the Wamasu in Black Marsh's glades.

We three hearts had no need for blades.

Then they came from the seas, folded steel in their hands.

They burned down our homes and ravaged our lands.

Akaviri brought nothing but bloodshed and lies.

Our families were slain before our eyes.

With three separate people, they shared a cruel joke -

A choice between death or the yoke

But then our three people knew what must be done

To end the oppression, our three became one.

Forged by War the Ebonheart rose

And drove the Akaviri back to the sea

Your choice of leaders consists of:
    - A fat, red-headed drunkard with the temperament of a pouty child
    - An old, washed-up aristocrat whose selfish and greedy lineage would make King John blush
    - Kate Beckinsale

The choice was pretty easy to make back in 2014 and nothing has changed since, so...

    Not how I'd describe it.

    - A Nord who self admits he basicly has no want to rule, who is in an alliance with two of the most xenophobic races in Tamriel? Who have no idea what to do with the throne even if they do win, thus ensuring the continent will collapse if they win?

    - A Warmongering queen governing a race that has a culture built around either inserting themselves into other cultures or conquring them for the sake of 'enlightenign' them, leaving behind secret police and officials that abuse them worse still, who's also dragged her own people into a war they have made several seperate plea's to Daedra to stop?

Or, a man who has a diplomatic history of forging alliances who wants nothing more then to continue an era of peace and prosperity the empire brought, leading an alliance of people who used to be slaves and rightly fear, that they will be again? Who also tried diplomacy with the Bosmer and Khajiit first, saying they didn't want to fight them before the war broke out.

The choice is simple for any sane and moral person. Even if you want to debate war-crimes, the covenants pillaging, burning, and unsavory acitvities are nothing next to mass child murder on the Dominion side, and the mass bombing and then necromantic razing of a entire port town on the pact side.

Obviously the only Faction worth joining..

The characters have charisma, their Queen genuinely cares for her people and the story is less moronic.. The other two factions can barely wipe their asses properly...

Seriously the EB and Covenant are some messed up factions no wonder they lost and nothing changes in their futures..

I don't even need to read the rest of your post.

    For the Pact!

The other factions may try to tempt you with honeyed words and false promises, but don't be fooled! The Pact beckons my brother/sister, we call upon you to lay down your life and stand with us against the frothing herds of the uncultured swine from the Aldmeri Dominion and Daggerfall Covenant.

The Aldmeri Dominion is full to bursting with the cultural and societal hierarchy of them hoity-toity Altmer from Summerset and the tree loving hippie-ism of the Bosmer, both of which have the unbridled appeal of a sack of drowned kittens. Not to mention they all dress wyrd <-intentional and hate fun. Their biggest claim to fame is a smooth talking Khajiit who is better at getting himself into sticky situations than he is at getting out of them. Also, have you ever tried to tour the lands of the Dominion? More sheer cliffs and impassable tree roots than any sane person could ever find enjoyable.

The Daggerfall Covenant is literally formed out of necessity, because the Redguards, Bretons and Orcs are incapable of managing anything by themselves. They're so terrible that Orsinium left the faction. Propaganda would tell you it was because of internal strife, but those are lies, it's because the Covenant is terrible. They also hate fun too and are tried and true baby kickers. Don't trust baby kickers!

The Pact has 3 Gods at our backs and Divayth Fyr! We also love fun and have a lot of mead and sujamma! Also, Argonians! You like Argonians? We got 'em! In droves! Most aren't even slaves indentured servants anymore. The Pact is hot, my man/lady! So hot! Why? Because of Red Mountain! We're hot like liquid hot magma! What's hotter than Red Mountain? Certainly not the Alik'r Desert or Queen Ayrenn! Join us friend! We'll wash away the dirty savages of the Dominion and Covenant, and create a society where all of the Dunmer Pact can thrive!

    Also, Zerging.

We... we... Zerg. Like... a lot. So... easy AP.

    Zerg.

    Signed,
A Loyal Dark Elf of the Ebonheart Pact.

When it comes down to it, story-wise, all three alliances are pretty messed-up.

The story is deliberately painting Queen Ayrenn as a well-meaning idealist and somewhat-outsider among her own people, which makes her an appealing character. (Plus Kate Beckinsdale...) But without her direct power to keep them in check, the AD would degenerate into an expansionist empire of psychopathic narcissistic racists -- which is what you spend most of the AD quest trying to root out. (And Elder Scrolls lore of course goes on to show just how bad the AD got in spite of it all...) The EP and DC are wracked with their own internal conflicts and nastiness too; it's the player's role to sort some of it out and keep everybody focused on bigger problems -- Like Molag Bal and company.

Which makes all three storylines interesting as you sort out the politics, intrigues and petty conflicts between characters doing dumb things... in a way, Nirn is kind of like Blazing Saddles...

PVP-wise, just pick an alliance where your friends and guidies are and build a character for it.

For the story, they're all good. Just pick one that seems interesting to start and work through all three, and have fun sorting out other power-hungry idiots' messes and bashing heads along the way. :D
