Scale Improvement mats

I play in Kyne and I’m pretty disappointed that I basically can’t craft Jewelry for my characters. It occurred to me that if the improvement mats were scaled so that lower levels required less, like maybe even using grains instead of platings, and fractions of honing stones and dwarven oils, it be a lot easier to test the builds I want out.

Not going to use lower level gear long enough to make it worthwhile.

Besides, you can craft the jewelry, it is upgrading that Zos wanted to be rare and special. They may change it some. Who knows.

For now, trait change is our best use for the craft.

In Kyne you do use it long enough, and on more than one character.

I’ll see what the difference is in white jewelry, but I know from experience it’s going to be significant enough to favor Just farming dolmens, which means you’ll probably have to take a couple levels in the process, which scales everything, and means less time to play in Kyne.

You don't need to improve the jewelry to test the sets. If you test everything at base level you still get an idea if it is worth using and improving.I only improve sub level 50 gear because I have the mats and can. If I ever make below level 50 jewelry it will never be improved, but at least I will have it.

I disagree because if were true people wouldn’t bother improving anything at all.

Recycling low level gear for continued use against new players in Kyne is a questionable playstyle ...

Not singling you out, @Gbnicholson1 ... but I've met a few cancerous players that never graduate to vet.

I play in vivec and shor, i actually started in Vivec.

If you have more than one character that can use it there’s no reason not to save it. We have options in Kyne to test sets without using 1000 rubedite and being pitted against people with gold gear, i]I don’t see any difference between using the same gear and Kyne and sharing gold gear between vet toons . Most people who are in Kyne aren’t new players at all, maybe vet players should graduate to Kyne?

If you’re not going to be crafting low level gear why are you forming an opposing opinion to people that are?

Agree, I save my non-vet sets too ... but not for the specific purpose of griefing other players in Kyne. As a veteran PvP player, I often simply level up on PvP guild off-nights in Vivec, Shor, and so on.

We have options in Kyne to test sets without using 1000 rubedite and being pitted against people with gold gear,

I don't understand what you're saying here. Rubedite is for CP150-160 gear ... which is way past non-vet PvP.

Most people who are in Kyne aren’t new players at all, maybe vet players should graduate to Kyne?

This doesn't make sense either. Are you saying because other players do it ... it's OK for you to do it too?

If you’re not going to be crafting low level gear why are you forming an opposing opinion to people that are?

I thought that was clear in my above post, but I'll re-iterate:

I support anyone and everyone crafting low level gear for new characters ... unless said gear is used towards a questionable playstyle that griefs other new players.

As the other forum-goer mentioned, you don't need gold gear in non-vet PvP (since you level too fast anyway).

How is non-vet crafted gear greifng anyone?

It says without using rubedite, not with.

I thought I was clear, but I’ll say again, I’m saying vet players should test builds in Kyne. Pts doesn’t have enough people, and like I said before it costs less mats. 130 steel ingots and 14-18 honing stones and 21 - 27 dwarven oil vs 960 rubedite, + 28-44 grain solvent, and if you want to be competitive the tempering alloy. You get the feel for it from your blue gear at low levels and if you like it enough you make a set for vet and gold it. At no point did I say anyone need’s gold gear in Kyne.

You keep saying greifing but as I understand it it’s synonymous with harassment, so I don’t really appreciate your accusation if that’s what you’re meaning to say and I also disagree. Firstly, only they can decide if they are being greifed, they probably appreciate the challenge like I do with good players using a decent build, I wouldn’t want to test it against someone inexperienced, nor would I want people who’ve played the game to feign an ineffective build so they don’t melt me, that would create a false impression and leave me thinking I’m all good for vet when I’m not. That kind of set up for embarrassing someone actually does fit the definition of greifing, at least more than someone getting upset that someone else is using crafted gear does. Secondly, it’s a reportable offense, if you reported that people are using a crafted set in Kyne they might think you’re submitting a troll report.

The way I see it, instead of saying, “okay I know everything there is to know about a game that has lots of changes every few months, I’ll just buy skyreach runs and grind dolmens to level up my other characters for vet pvp”. I am instead saying “I’m going to take my time and test different builds out in a cost effective manner and maybe even stick around here to always be able to test things out to be a better vet pvp player, and level up a little slower but be more comfortable with the character when I get to vet”

Now I will say with non crafted gear it’s easier to get the sets at vet level, which is the majority of the sets in the game, so that might be something to test in vet pvp, but that’s more for a pvp thread not a crafting thread. And like I said, those sets are also currently the best way to get a competitive jewelry set for a nonvet pvp character, which is ridiculous because there are 5 different kinds of mats for crafting jewelry that are basically going to not be used because it costs so much to improve them.

This would also benefit new players with fewer resources and if they scale the improvement mats down they’ll have a better chance to max out gear if they want to.

We’ve heard your concerns about Jewelry Crafting, and we’ve been working on a few changes to help address them. The change to the value of Master Writs was a big part of those changes, but it isn’t the only part – or even the biggest! We’d like to inform you of some of the changes we’re currently working on for Jewelry Crafting.
    • First, we’ve noticed that some players will leave Blacksmithing resources alone in their search for more Jewelry Crafting materials – which can result, in the long run, in a zone having too few Jewelry Crafting Seams for players to find. To help alleviate this, in an upcoming PTS patch, we’ll be adding a small amount of Jewelry Crafting raw material to some (but not all) Blacksmithing ore nodes. Not only will this encourage players to harvest both Blacksmithing and Jewelry Crafting resources, it will also result in more Jewelry Crafting Dust being mined overall (as we are not affecting the yield of existing Jewelry Crafting Seams at all).
    • Second – and this is the big one – in an upcoming PTS patch, we’ll be significantly reducing the number of Platings it takes to upgrade a piece of Jewelry. At maximum rank in Platings Expertise, it will take you only a single Terne Plating to upgrade a ring from White to Green, and it will take only 4 Chromium Platings to upgrade a ring from Purple to Gold – both of which are half of what it takes currently on Live.
With these changes, we aim to make the experience of obtaining Jewelry Crafting materials, upgrading Rings and Necklaces, and completing Jewelry Crafting Master Writs more enjoyable and economically beneficial. They should arrive on PTS sometime soon – and be included in the final Live release of the Wolfhunter DLC pack.

    Thanks guys!
