Dear readers,
1v1 dueling suggestions has been out in the waters, and there are both positive and negative crowds out there. Why is dueling so important? That's purely subjective, but it can be a different way of getting better at your character, another form of social interaction between players, form communities, and fine tune your gameplay among friends. This is what makes it different from PvP in Cyrodiil which often can be hectic and unpredictable, and with people you cannot communicate with.
It's all about how dueling would be implemented, being able to meet both crowds. Because in the end, there are those who really enjoy such a feature in MMORPGs, and content makes people stick around, which is in your best interest for ESO's survival.
There are 3 options that comes to my mind:
1. In the Cyrodiil training area one could add a sparring spot, which has a similiar objective as the siege tutorials. You're not a soldier till you've trained the class and tested the effectiveness against fellow comrades.
2. Make dueling restriced in the open PvE world by adding spots/arenas where one can meet up. This could also turn into a social hotspot (as of now there are none?).
3. Make dueling possible anywhere, but add a function in gameplay settings that can turn this off. By doing so one has easily met the main concern you often read: "I dont want to receive duel requests during my focus on PvE content".
And if you come across some elitist bashing your skills, then just /ignore him, as ignore in ESO actually hurts.
