My selenes tooltip says 16k damage but it only hits for 12k. Why?

Hitting a dummy right now my selenes clearly says 16.4k damage when procs. Im watching it proc and every single time its hitting for 12k....

Bug or? I know in pvp everyone has different resistances so you will likely see different numbers all the time. But if im hitting a dummy shouldnt it hit for what the tooltip says?

Things like these are why console players can never hit as hard as pc. Our calculations on console are bs. There are times where damage just doesnt register on a dummy like on my magblade when i proc my merciless the damage tick doesnt show at all when it hits so im just like .....

Anyone else having these issues?

    seems most tooltips are broken big time. but that's what you get when the development studio is more interested in adding retextured bunny ears to the ingame shop.

    Yes this, and every target dummy has some resistances.

    Dummies, like all NPCs have resistances. More specifically they have about 11k armor and spell resist.

    Target Skeletons have 18,200 Physical and Spell Resistance. Or 36.4% Damage Resistance.

    I get that but on my mag dk on that exact same dummy my tooltip are 100% accurate. And im not over penetrating at all. Same thing with my meteor it hits for the exact amount it says in tooltip was wondering why my stam sorc was diff but i guess you are still right

    I doubt that. The tooltip doesn't know if you've got Ele Drain or Puncture or Alkosh on the target, and it doesn't know if you're attacking an overland mob with 9.2k resistance or a Maelstrom mob with 12.1k resistance or a dungeon mob with 18.2k resistance or another player with 30k resistance.

    As has already been said, that's the outgoing amount, before mitigation kicks in. The tooltips for your actual skills work the same way.

    It's one of the prime reasons you have to be really careful with some sets that do things like heal based on damage done (Bahraha's / Leeching / Resilient) vs say Livewire, and those set get hit twice in PvP (damage is halved, healing is also halved, so you end up with 1/4 of the healing you would otherwise, rendering them basically worthless).

    Yea i know but tooltip always shows non crit base damage so i was goin off non crit numbers

    target dummies have 18.2k resistances. just like trial and dungeon monsters

    overland have half that resistance
