We already have a thing happening where a group from one guild takes a keep and some random lone person parks his butt by the NPC so he/she can claim the keep for their guild. Now consider how much worse this would be if claiming the keep actually mattered in some way.
Only way this idea works is if the game can actually track guild members numbers in each fight and even if that were feasible it would promote larger and larger zergs as guilds try to claim keeps.
edited to include this: As it is now a guild can only claim one keep. When my PvP guild takes a keep and we already claimed another we let a player who has a personal guild claim the keep because we find the guilds name funny. You want to promote PvP guilds but a player from a trading guild could tag along with a group hoping to tag all the keeps so the trading guild gets two traders that week.

So they would need to implement a requirement for a guild to gain rewards, like 100 members and at least 50k in sales

that trade guild would have to come defend it...no defense -- lose the keep.

Scoring = when a guild claims a castle, they could receive points per tick, and the longer they keep the castle the more points they score...something like, 1 point for 1 tick, 4 points for 2 ticks, 9 points for 3 ticks, etc.
example, if you held a castle x you would get y points;Resources could be worth ¼ of a keep, so 1 tick for .25 points, 2 ticks for 1 points, etc.
- 1 tick = 1 point
- 2 ticks = 4 points
- 4 ticks = 16 points
WELL, that’s just the initial inspiration and it would seem pretty easy to implement because you just have to make a leaderboard for the guilds, add kiosks and boom!
Other benefits = pvp guilds would become more important, more guild pride, defense of keeps would be emphasized, its like a win, win, win, win.

On this way every Member would have the Option to help his Guild and it would not depend on someone who is Camping the Merchant to Claim the Keep. And for the programmers, it would be not to much work.
But i don't think that a Merchant would motivate many PvP-Players. Longer Foodtimer, mats for sieges(coldfire-Balistas and so on) or perhaps mountspeed and other minor buffs would be nice. But when you Focus it on the Guildmates you have to select only the ones who have earned atlest 25k ap or something like this. So you can Prevent that 500 People in a trading-Guild get loads of Things only because of a Group of perhaps 10 active PvP-Player
