How would you feel about a "Ritualist Class."

with all the threads regarding necromancy throughout my observations of the forum and the commentary made by myself and others, I believe it is time to finally cement it.

How Would the Entire Community feel about Having a Ritualist Class in the world of Elder Scrolls Online Tamriel Unlimited, because as far as I know, the Three class skill lines in relation could be based on "Necromancy", "Reach Magic" and, until I or the community comes up with a third one, "Abyssal Magic"(based on the magics used by the abyssal cabal.)
If you see me anywhere. Know that I am sitting back with a bag of popcorn, watching as ESO burns the goodwill of its player base with practices that only disrespects the players time like it did to me and many others...

If a game does not respect your time, best thing to do is move on from it and find something else.

I'm not "against" such a thing, but I wouldn't ever go there. I don't do the whole necromancy thing, or the Reach sort of stuff, and have no interest in doing those or "abyssal". Those aren't my Tamriel. But that's fine, they can certainly be your Tamriel.

I'd prefer it over a pure necromancer class. I feel like having a solely Necromancer class would pigeon hole it into being a slightly more evil sorc. Reanimating the dead falls under the same class as conjuration, so they'd just be the sorcer's more edgy younger brother.

A Ritualist is open to more interpretation, and likely would fit stam better as well. Also can be way more varied.

Yup. SO not my thing. Never was, even though I've played TES since Arena. Oh. Not vampires either.

you forgot "Briarhearts," certain reachmen who ritually had their heart replaced with a Briarheart, giving them untold magicka capability.

i love werewolves and tbh i wouldn't be against them pulling out werewolves+ vamps and turning them into their own classes. They struggle to be relevant in end game stuff as they are now so it could either be a huge flop or a tremendous success.

As for vampires, the only believable ones I ever ran across were in books by April White. The rest.... eh, nope. Being not-current-day-human(ish), or TES version-elven works fine for me.

I feel about this class like I feel about any suggestion of a -new class-
    I hate it.
I hate it for the very same reason I hate all other new class ideas - because it would need making a new character to enjoy, whioch is no big thing for newer players, but vexing for older hands who already played through the game many times. And I hate it because no matter what new class they might add, it would be extremely aggrivating to find it would have made a much better choice for a old character with months of gametime invested playing through all had it beeavailable back at generation...

    As for this particular idea...

Reach Magic and necromancy would go well together, in a "gravesinger" sort of way. Abyssal magic on the other hand, well... that's a bit like mixing inuit shamanism with caribbean voodoo. Hint - despite being practiced by non-caucasians, its not the same, nor in any way related. Thus it really wouldn't fit with the "reachmage" theme, which would also be a little bit... narrow... in its concept.

    Actually...
Reach magic would make a decent specialization for wardens, since its kinda plant-corruption based - though we might want to expand it a bit in our daydreaming and make it a more general "plant shaman" theme, so its not too narrow in focus... Giving them some plant spells that are for DPS, not healing, yes? For those wanting to play a "natures wrath" themed warden? (I have an alt like that...)

While necromancy would ge a good specialization for sorcerors, who already use conjuration to summon daedra, and that would make it a small step for a mage into summoning the spirits of the dead...

And abyssal magic (or possibly, sea magic) might make a good guild skill line for everyone, and mesh well with an maormer themed expansion someday...

Oh, I do need to add that I find it a bit odd that this seems to be the only MMO which doesn't provide a way for players to "turn to the dark side" (er.... other than Hello Kitty I guess). I wouldn't ever be interested personally, but there are players who want to RP that side. Of course, I'm new - so perhaps I just haven't seen it yet.

As long as Abyssal is distinct enough from Sorcerer's Dark/Daedric magics, ye.
The Warden may be a good example of how distinguished the skill trees could be.

But I'm the person that'd be hype all over a Bard Necromancer hybrid that summoned sp00ky glowing ghostly musical instruments that created buffs for caster/team mates in battle so I'd not take my thoughts to <3

I never wanted the Warden class. All I want is a Necromancer class to be introduced, and sorc to be changed into a completely Lightning based class. Therefore, Daedric stuff could be moved to Necromancer.

Would be interesting to see how a Stamancer would be like. Maybe more poison/earth based? But then that would be too much like StamDK I guess. Meh, I don't care for StamDK anyways so forget them lol

Perhaps we can design the Ritualist to call upon conjured creatures from the Soul Cairn directly, bypassing the “Necro” part - a loophole, if you will.

Skyrim conjurations from Dawnguard featured Mistman and Wrathman summons that were the ethereal undead but didn’t involve raising someone’s ancestors to do it. Mages Guild mages summon Flame Atronachs regularly from Oblivion and the Dunmer perform rituals on their ancestors - take raising the Brothers of Strife to defend Stonefalls for example. Nobody seems to bat an eye at having daedra run around on Nirn and giant, flaming undead ancestors burning boats...

Personally I'd prefer it to be a few new skill lines rather than a new class. That way I could use the skills on my main.
Add a Scribing skill that works like Arcanist beam.
      ---
Veteran players have been alienated and disengaged from Overland since One Tamriel, due to the lack of difficulty, and pushed into dungeons and trials; the minority of content in the Elder Scrolls Online. We can't take the repetition anymore, fix Overland engagement for Vet players. I don't even care if it's not combat related anymore, just make Overland engaging again.
      ---
Overland difficulty scaling is desperately needed. 10 years. 6 paid expansions. 25 DLCs. 41 game changing updates including One Tamriel, an overhaul of the game including a permanent CP160 gear cap and ridiculous power creep thereafter. I'm sick and tired of hearing about Cadwell Silver & Gold as a "you think you do but you don't" - tier deflection to any criticism regarding the lack of overland difficulty in the game. I'm bored of dungeons, I'm bored of trials; make a personal difficulty slider for overland. Make a self debuff mythic. Literally anything at this point.

I would like to have alteration, illusion, and conjuration skill lines added to the game. This could be done by adding a new class, new skill lines, or spell crafting.

A class named "Ritualist" could include necromancer like skills though conjuration, and some bound weapons that would scale in Magicka damage. Players could then have a Necromancer build, or a Spell Sword build within the same class.

The topic of a Necromancer class comes up often, but is much more of a stretch lore wise, and to the storyline of ESO than a Ritualist class would be. Necromancers are also seen in Elder Scrolls lore, and the ESO story as evil. A Ritualist class would be a much more neutral themed class allowing for more role play options.

Doesn't really sound like it would make sense within Elder Scrolls lore, those three skill lines together. How would one be both a necromancer, a proper reachman, and a sload or his follower? Sounds like you would need to have three very different alliegances in ESO times.

Besides, a Templar is a bit of a ritualist, and we already have a bunch of necromancer-like skills while raising of actual fallen enemies (the one thing that's really missing) doesn't seem like it would make sense in this - not to speak of the fact that outright necromancers are always the enemies in ESO stories.

Reach Magic would be a fun theme for a skill line lore-wise, although I can't really imagine what combat skills it should actually have. Similarly, Abyssal Magic does seem cool, and of course my character wants to learn any cool magic they see an enemy do, and it'd be a cool skill line lore-wise, but again I have trouble seeing what the skills would look like except a mix of Daedric Summoning and Dark Magic with a re-skin.

I'm not against it, but I'm not all for it yet. I think that the current classes need some serious work, whereas adding another class will just cause more unbalance, for instance, Warden. Our current classes are vastly unbalanced across PVE and PVP, for instance, Dragonknight.

Having said that, we have what, 3 weapons every single person uses, Staff, OH&S, DW? Bringing in this class will probably demand a fire or lightning staff.

Now, why do we focus on bringing in more classes and builds, when our currents already need work. If we keep doing this, we'll have another Warden case where it's locked behind a paywall (it's Zeni, so of course) and it's either completely useless or OP.
Dragonborn, huh? Was it your ma or your pa that was the dragon?
